I saw Johnny A in Portland, Maine with these guys, maybe on this tour. He put on a really entertaining show. By chance, I ran into him the next day at the local Guitar Center. Funny, likable, down-to-earth guy, with deep roots in and great respect for the music. Terrific guitarist. As milowagon says, there's a lot going on here. This is one of my favorites. At the show he told a funny story about his Mom getting him tickets for the Beatles concert I think at Shea Stadium when he was a kid. He definitely deserves to be better known.
I believe all of us are given a chance to follow one direction or another in life. Johnny appears to have chosen one that satisfies him and allows for increased chances for artistry. He could have run towards all the notoriety & money. Wouldn’t have translate into greater happiness. You were very fortunate to have seen him play life. Peter Wolf knew what talent was out there when he asked Johnny to join. Just great sense of melody….go buy Johnnys records.
That was fantastic. This is one of my favorite album songs by the Beatles. Johnny you did a magnificent job on this one. The Bass and Drums were also very solid. I will be checking out more of your stuff.
Awesome! This became one of my favorite Beatles tunes after I saw Help the first time. Nothing like a random English countryside jam surrounded by tanks.
TH-cam turned me on to this great player. Total master of tone and effects. Count the number of times he changes the effect patches, very subtle. Love this version, stayed up til 3 in the morning to rip it off. Unknown in the UK, but I am spreading the word. Thanks for posting.
@@akbarlebowitz8151 I would say a touch of Marvin in the solo (the standard Beatle solo - it is reminiscent of something like FBI) but all the rest alternate picking like Atkins who is god. :)
I was recently lucky enough to meet Johnny before his appearance at a Sam Ash in NJ. He couldn't have been nicer, and I was blown away by his playing and tone through a pair of Fender DRRI amps. Purely inspiring. His Epi model sounded fantastic, and was shocked to hear it has an ebony board. I finally had a chance to play his Gibson sig model, and after 30+ years of playing, it may be the finest Gibson I've ever played. I'm hoping to pick up the Epi version very soon. This video is on constant rotation...just love it! Especially that amazing crunch tone.
Great stuff ! Had a chance to see this played live on several occasions, and had hoped to hear a studio version, but it is at least, on the CD of "O.N.N." Brought my Gibson JA sig. model to a gig, and I thank Johnny for taking the time to check it out and play it a bit. This man should be a household name...he's that good. Dan.
Just an awesome interpretation! Wonderfully rich array of notes and accents, augmented by ultra tight percussion and smooth flowing bass. So grateful to discover!!
I have been fortunate enough to get to see and experience both Johnny A. and Eric Johnson at least two or three times performing at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC. I have met both of them in person and in addition to being two incredible virtuosos on guitar, they both were very personable and autographed several CD’s and LP’s for me which are in my music room. Do not miss them performing live if you get a chance. They don’t get any better. You will be stunned at the level of talent and the command of their instrument that will be displayed.
Interesting guitar tone. I mean it's appealing. I'm used to playing metal but I'm liking this. I'll have to look into all that is contained in his guitar rig.
Fantastic cover,of a fantastic tune ( Only the Beatles ,could write at this level, and not even use it as an "A" side ) I used to live in Boston, and never crossed paths with this guy. Watched an interview with him. I NEVER give kudos to Beatles covers, but this is the exception. His tone is remarkable, somewhere between a Les Paul and a Gretsch Chet. Apparently he designed this guitar from the bottom up,working with Gibson. Tone means soooo much, when your playing with your fingers ,at this level. How has Johnny, slipped under the radar. In respect to them not using this track,I'm assuming it is the dropout ,after second bridge,I think it was ? Too bad. He kills this song, they should reshoot it ...
Excellent rendition! Great arrangement. But the director of the video so totally screwed up the blocking that the primary camera which is shooting Johnny front and center, is almost totally blocked by the audiences heads. The editor could not work around this massive error, thus marring and ruining this otherwise decent video. The director didn't notice this BEFORE the shoot started that he MIGHT have a problem? Sheesh.
PERFECT!! I've seen Johnny several times in the Boston area. He's a guitar Einstein!! Supurb to say the least.... TPR ~ facebook DOT com/SightNSoundMultimediaLLC
Johnny A is the sound of fine wine.
Johnny is just about one of the best of "our time".

The highest compliment I can pay is hearing you play this great led me to immediately play my Beatles after this fantastic performance.

Pure fun and very entertaining, but a very serious musician. Great stuff.
Great sound, can feel the Shadows in there as well
More like Chet Atkins.
@@2011littlejohn1 How about both?

Very nice John - even went to your show at Newbury Comics on 114 in 2001.

Amazing instrumental cover 🤗
Thank you Gary for sharing your music tastes...I truly enjoyed this...
This should have been on Johnny's first album, and in his Transcription book, very nice!

Johnny A is the best. He's like. . .if Chet Atkins rocked.
WOW!!!!!
Nice!

I recognized your name from a few decades back, when NPR (or our local affiliate?) played Walk Don't Run. How's that for flattery?
1:40 ❤
So damn good! Does anyone know the name of the drummer?
Chris Farr
the night before = tutti frutti + man of mistery
Gran representación, si señor
Would make George Harrison proud.
He didn't say George wrote it.
@@rockradstone Sir Paul wrote it but George did play guitar on it....
I f*cking love this :)
Who needs a singer.
Johnny Aced it!
Top Macca song.
Buena versión. Se realza más en un instrumental así el carácter rockista de este tema de Paul McCartney. Es muy bueno
Johnny A seems to know what non-hit tunes to cover.
