I enjoyed this video so much, too! I love learning about all the dolls and talking about dolls. It's like we're all just having fun together with dolls. Thank you so much for your videos and all you do for the doll community :)
I really enjoyed this video, despite these dolls are not ones I would collect. I really appreciate their age and I understand their significance. I do love Pongratz dolls and would love it Rachel if you would do a talk and presentation of these dolls one day.

Love Stanley’s witty humor, definitely made me chuckle. Love the doll content! While I don’t collect antique dolls currently, I love learning about them
I know very little about antique dolls, so I appreciate getting a close-up look with some information. I remember taking some books out of the library about antique dolls when I was a kid in the 80s, but I never owned one and stuck to modern dolls. However, I still find older dolls interesting. A tour of various dolls from one manufacturer like Jumeau would be good because then we could learn some of the defining characteristics of that brand.
Would love to see a Jumeau video especially if the Jumeau in the red cape is featured. That doll is spectacular. This video was lots of fun. Thank you for sharing.
@@RachelHoffmanDolls yes I recognized her as a 1907. For some reason i love that mold more then the earlier Jumeaus. Can't wait to see her if you do the video. Take care Rachel

Hi Rachel I love this content. All your videos are so interesting. 👍🏼👍🏼 If you did a video every day...I'm there! 😉 This vid was so informative for me. I just recently purchased 5 reproductions. I really enjoyed this video. I'm glad Holland Diane is much better. Also, thanks for sharing some of your Antique doll knowledge with us all. Rachel, I think it's a great idea to develop a list of specific doll videos like this one. Yes, I would love a Jumeau doll video. Also, it would be nice if you add Brus, German, & miniature dolls to your list. I also love miniature cabinet dolls, preferably 8" & under. Those are easier to collect for those of us who don't have large homes or small apartment where space is limited. Would you kindly please show us close ups of the tiny dolls in the wood cabinets you carry in your shop. I had suggested in the past if you could do a video on them so I'm still hoping. Serendipitously began written communications with Lynda Marx: I had at the time recently discovered a Marianne de Nuñez antique reproduction Bru bébé and began asking questions on eBay. Unbeknownst to me, the late Mrs. de Nuñez -- a very gifted doll artist in her own right and a member of NIADA -- was a contemporary of Lynda's. So imagine my eyes popping out of their sockets when the great Lynda Marx replied. Before long, I had purchased a true-antique doll from Lynda's own collection and purchased several antique reproduction dolls by Lynda Marx and by Lynda and Alan Marx -- including the sweetest JDK asian toddler. And, Rachel, you're spot on about the details of an antique reproduction created by Lynda Marx and the time that the doll artist invests in sculpting, painting and sewing outfits for the dolls.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ HUGE shout-out to Lynda!💐 (Lynda, I'm commenting under my YT name, but I hope you remember me by my mentioning discovering Marianne's antique repro Bru bébé.)
I love learning about the more antique, dolls, especially through your videos or Linda’s or other presenters…thanks so much for all this informations for it helps us to appreciate dolls & their history, which leads me to my question….Through a sewing group I belong to, I learned about women’s “Pockets” & how they made them, used them, some history…( I just received the book, The Pocket”, a hidden history of women’s lives). anyway, are there dolls whose costumes feature the “pocket” which was worn underneath a women’s skirt, that are specific kind of collector’s items? The book, The Pocket , does show some dolls with their outfits & their pockets…..just curious, for dolls themselves reveal so much about history….I’m just fascinated by these “Pockets” in general, probably because I never knew about them, until the presentation…..
When I got my first doll with human hair I was totally grossed out by it. Speaking about AM dolls...I recently won on ebay auction the most gorgeous 390 A4M. She has beautifully painted eyebrows & eyelashes, nearly full hair eyelashes, gorgeous blue glass eyes and beautifully painted lips. She was sold as damaged but it's not noticeable. Hello! I really love these videos and I was wondering if you would considere doing a video explaining jumeau dolls, or in different antique doll "brands", and when is a doll considered "antique" or a "collectible", bc I am new to this and I'm kind of at loss. Like, I have two antique dolls passed down from my grandma (not branded), one made of plaster, I think, from arround 1940, and one made of plastic, from arround 1970... maybe. Either way, I know she had a couple more that were "fancier" and I was wondering if I could identify them, but I don't know how. Either way, these videos have me really hyped. Thx for making them.
I enjoy anything you do. However,I cannot afford one. I love fashion but have only one FG ..rest are beautifully done repros..I am interested in all dolls.
I am collecting dolls more seriously and deciding what scale of doll to focus on (1:3, 1:4) Could you make a video on different doll scales? I love antiques. Maybe you could show the dolls with accessories or furniture so we can get an idea of the size.
That's such a fantastic idea! Knowing the right scale can make a world of difference in how you enjoy your collection. We'll definitely consider creating a video exploring different doll scales and showing them with accessories and furniture for better context. Thanks for suggesting something so useful! 😊✨
Rachel, am I correct that the bisque used in antique dolls was white and the flesh color was painted on the outside, so if you look inside the doll's head the bisque will be white? And reproductions are often made with flesh colored bisque that does not need to be painted, so the inside of the head will also be flesh colored? Maybe this is not always true, but it seems that this is what I have usually seen in antique vs repros.
It depends on the type of doll. There are artist reproductions that are made in the right way with an artist signature and sometimes they may have different colors of bisque. Speaking about dolls that were made to be frauds and look like antiques, they are made in the same way as an antique with paint on top of the bisque. I would say that most are made like the old way - with a white or pinkish color bisque and then painted.

Hi thank you for your information, I am so exited to know about the old dolls, My Father got me a doll, first let me tell you about me, I was Born 1945 so hi must got the doll when I was about 5 or 6 years old, The doll walk I held her hand and she stared to walk moving her head one side to a nether, she had teeth and her hair was braided and put on her ears, like prices Leia in Star Wars and her dress was different colors with with collar, and with shows. I don't No how to descriver her, she was not able to set down, I guess because she walk. I love her, My Aunt and I move different times and I just don't remember how I lost her. Can you Possibly help me to find one. At the time I was in Mexico. In 1965 I move to the USA To South Bend Indiana. Presently I am In Boise Idaho. Your help will be greatly Appreciated. My Name is Lolita.
Hello Lolita, thank you for sharing your special doll memory with us. Dolls like the one you described, with walking and head-moving mechanisms, were quite popular in the 1950s and can be a treasure to rediscover. While I can't personally search for the doll, you might find luck searching online auctions, doll forums, or specialized doll shops that carry vintage items. You can also consider attending a doll show or contacting doll experts to help you in your search. Since you originally got your doll in Mexico, she might be a unique regional piece, making her extra special. Wishing you all the best on your journey to reconnect with a cherished part of your childhood. Your story is heartwarming, and I hope you find your special doll again. 🎀

Sure, you can find them that big once in awhile.
Do you ever attach a wig to a bisque doll?
Sure, but I don’t glue them or anything.
@@RachelHoffmanDolls So then how do you attach the wig?
How many of those dolls are actually hunted
None.
How can you date an antique doll head ?
You say that you going to do 1 video at day but is not true.
I said that was my goal and I filmed each day but one last week. Even if I filmed one a day, they take several days to edit and upload..
