I'm two weeks in my new job as a case manager. I LOVE my job. (hour long paid break, my own office, company issued phone and laptop and credit card). At my company, it's required to have a Bachelor's in social work, psychology, or anything human services. Our caseloads are supposed to be 8 clients, but when understaffed you can have 14 clients. My caseload is 9 clients. We assist them with housing, goals, medical needs (usually from our team nurse and prescriber but we also help book appointments, drop off meds or other basic items and also accompany those who need assistance to their appointments.) We can also take them shopping until they can clothes shop themselves.

Do they train you on the job on how to be a casemanger? I have a bachelor's in psychology but I have no idea how to do anything case management related.

Case manager are essentially a advocate. You co-create the plan with the clients and search resources in the community. Housing, insurance, food etc. What form of Case Management are you in? Housing, behavioral health,? Let me know and I’ll assist

So where does the nurse case manager fit ? What if I want to get a job at the social secuirty or welfare office ?

A nurse case manager is specialized. RN are used mainly In utilization management and transitional care. Welfare services are the case manager that are non clinical, they work on Food stamps, section 8, cash aide. Their roles are specific to low income families and disabled populations.

Says who? CPS is responding to allegations of abuse or neglect. A keen eye and strong listening skills is the key to that role. Age and life have nothing to do, with the SYSTEMS response to abuse and neglect .
