    The road bike rider when riding with 1 hand was in fact calling his wife telling her: I've got a great target, good speed practice and I will be home 5 minutes early!

    • @hoekie3652
      @hoekie3652 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Wouter Scholten Haha, it looked more like suffering to me. And he got out of sight. No target anymore. Personally I don't let road bike riders suffer. I just don't give them any illusions haha

      No gain without pain :) But it's normal for any high speed practice, no different from trying to catch up to mopeds or mini-cars (moped like) going 45 km/h, or even some tractors (that go much faster than allowed sometimes). Road bikers who ride for sport/competitions don't see that as suffering but as a challenge and for high speed practice... Perhaps slower cyclists who only ride to keep in shape get annoyed? I asked a guy who rides a 45km/h fast-pedelec if road bikers get annoyed, when he overtakes, he said no (they use him for speed practice). Fast-pedelecs, mopeds, velomobiles are all just different from a standard bicycle, they have motor or aerodynamic advantage, so it makes sense to not see it as competition.

      @@wouter_scholten Well, many roadies think it is competition because they don't know better unlike you. Good for you. When you consider both are human powered you should/could call it competition. Human competition. Just one rides an UCI approved bike and the other one rides an UCI banned bike because the UCI knows they are faster. No shit sherlock. Instead of choosing the fast bike UCI decided for the slower bike. So unless someone rides professional competitions there's no reason to ride a slower bike. Unless perhaps someone only rides uphill all the time. And Of course the speed pedelec is not annoyed, he's riding a 'moped' and looks like one haha. Did you ever ride a velomobile?

      @@hoekie3652 : Late reply from my 2nd account: I meant that the road bike riders did not get annoyed at the s-pedelec rider riding faster than they are riding. It's not quite the same as a moped because a s-pedelec rider is still pedalling so it can give a feeling of "hey, that cyclist overtakes me!" :) But those road bike riders don't get annoyed because they know the differences, they just use them for practice. I didn't ride a velomobile yet, but I'm curious, could be great fun for long distances. I find 100+ km rides tedious on a standard bike... For various situations such as 1) daily use to go shopping for groceries, 2) for rides of short distances of say 10 km, and 3) to get around a city, recumbents and velomobiles are more hassle than an upright bicycle because of size, weight, turning radius, and your field of view which is reduced even with mirrors.

    Put the road-cyclist in black into the vélomoblie, he'll take off :-) 70 km/h easily.

    Ça serait bien que tous les cyclistes sur route se mettent au vélomobile. C'est quoi l'application qui permet d'afficher la vitesse instantanée, en bas?

    Salut,
    Je m'intéresse au velomobile.
    Quel est le gain en terme de vitesse moyenne sur un parcours d'une à deux heures peu vallonné par exemple ?
    Sans assistance évidemment.

      Sur un VTT, je faisais 20km/h de moyenne. À la même puissance, je suis à 40km/h de moyenne dans un vélomobile.

    • @hoekie3652
      @hoekie3652 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      These velos really are that fast. if the riders wants to and has the legs.
      BTW I'm riding a velomobile for a year now, have a mid speed velomobile model. And I've never had a roadie even come close in speed. A handful have tried but back of really fast.
      More over I sometimes just ride at a speed I can ride all day long. Enjoying the ride and scene. Even at those speeds many roadies can't keep up. Above 20 miles or 30 km/h aerodynamics takes over. Riding against the wind even sooner.

    disappointing speed for a velomobile on flat roads. id have thought youd be blasting past the roadies at over 30 mph (50km/h). its unrepresentitive and might give the impression theres only a slight advantage when in fact its night and day speed difference
