这集太悲 悲到极致有种凄美 刻到心里头难受的紧。每天 每小时 每分钟 都不知道有多少东西在流逝，留不住。国粹的美到现在才品出几分味道，好剧！好本！好演员！

Chen stole my heart so many episodes ago. He is just an interesting charachter and I was waiting so badly for him to come back into the story. Shang has such a brotherly relationship with him its so beautiful.
We, westerners live in an undesiring cake-eater world without real emotions and meaningfull aims. This sophisticated amazing series helps me discover the constant pain and never ended joy and all the emotions of my spirit to feel again.
Yes, this is a touching drama. But I believe westerners or not, each person is responsible for pursuing his/her own happiness; don't let your happiness rely on another person or on any circumstances.

The consumer society we live in is not making us happy but exploits and degenerates in emotionally. The way she treats people including Mr. Cheng isn't good. She treats people like trash. We hating on her is not by accident.
Not really she married him when she was 22 and he was 17. He has been a loyal husband. she tried to find him mistress because she was busy with the son but gets upset if he's fucking other women.

这两集当真是两个绝美的人生。商老板放手妹妹，陈韧香舞台自尽。世间好物不长存。就是商老板坐在床上，不感叹陈韧香的离去，却钻在仙人步伐失传，让我一下子出了戏
真的，这已经不知道是第几次看这个情节了，但是每次看到多多拔剑，然后看向自己的脖子或者割向自己的脖子的那一瞬间，真的太感动泪目真的是泪目我真的是认识多多之后我才知道有这么一个剧，我一看，哇，真的好中国风，我真的好喜欢

Boss Shang is very aware of the fragile consistence of his old tradition, of the "old" tradition of the Peking Opera... so very far from all the evidence and development and way of life, and taste and arts of the "new", unsafe world of the near future. People watch movie in cinema, now... what will be with that old stuff, uncomprehensible to the new generations? it is so very true... I admire the actors here, the depth of the dialogue, the truthfulness of their mood and mindfull thoughts.
Do watch ‘Nothing gold can stay’. It's another great Chinese period drama.

11:42 (earlier and forward...) = such a stunning historical reconstruction of a busy street in Shanhai! su much details and vivid elements! and what a difference to Beiping! here we see a very "modern" city, more "westerned" as the imperial capital... I observe the costume of the people... also in such a details the director and team have worked in order to achieve perfection, I suppose. There is a lot of different kind of dresses... The lady on the extreme left has a white dress, very elegant and "à la mode", with a big touch of western taste... and all the others are wearing modern/western man's suits or, sometime, but no more as the majority like in Beiping (!!) , the traditional,, common long "tunica", as also Boss Shang like to wear.... And then, the street is still wet from the long night's rain.. the brilliance of the grey colour give its flavour and temperature to the dialogue of the two main characters, in this sweet and peaceful exchange of thoughts and feelings.... that is a masterpiece indeed!

这集有点红楼梦中查检大观园，晴雯冤死的意思了。是该一点点繁华散去的感觉。前面即便再困难，再走头无路，却总给人感觉前方充满希望，总会柳暗花明，否极泰来的。可自陈一死，这个故事悲凉而无可奈何的基调就定下了。霎时相聚终究一散。
动荡的年代，几位主演最后能够明哲保身地活着就不错了，还真是没法期待太多😂😂

So much happened in 1 episode.
I do not agree with the approach of Shang Xi Rui of not telling the truth to his sister. Truth may be painful but is necessary in life. And the biggest mistake is that he gave up the Jade pendant. How he can trust that guy? I would not trust a gambling addict stranger around my family, no matter how much remorse he shown.
And I did not expect Chen end to be like this, really dramatic. I feel bad for him ;(.
