    Living in Alton I walk my dog frequently around Dimmingsdale. Beautiful place. If you had walked a mile or so UP from the tea room you would see distance markers to Alton Abbey...which was what Alton Towers was previously known as even though it never was an Abbey. It was just a way of bigging up a then modest country house before it became the biggest private residence in Europe at the time.

    How close is it to the towers? Is it possible to walk from the park to the tree?

      Its 2.5 miles so about a 45 minute walk to the actual park - you can see the rides and hear them from the area of the tree in this video.Thanks for commenting.

    Tell the kid to show the tree more respect and not to climb it.

      Danielle, the "kid" is my daughter and she was 7 at the time, also at what point did she climb it?? she stepped on a root if you watch my video. All of my children have been brought up with the greatest respect of nature but your not telling me you never climbed a tree in your life!!!!!!!!

    • @danielledewitt1
      @danielledewitt1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Garry Gadget I had a climbing frame in my back garden so if I wanted to climb I climbed that.

      Thats good, so did I and so has Lily, but as I stated she never climbed the tree in my video - she is too nervous to climb tree's and has never climbed one yet.Have you visited this chained Oak by any chance?
      Im pretty sure its been climbed more times than you and me have had hot dinners - but not by me or my children.

      At 17:48 you can see her step on a root - this was the extent of her "climbing"? hence my original answer to your comment ?

      Garry Gadget She climed on the very old trunk of the very old tree. What if god forbid she slipped or lost her footing. No I haven’t visited the oak yet but I will.
