According to the search I just did she was 14 when this was recorded. It was used in the movie "Con Air", but they felt she was too young to sing that for the movie version, so Trisha Yearwood was asked to record that version.
It was the movies producer who said Leann sounded like she was sining to her teddy bear ( I think the movies producer let Leann's age basis himself). This was part of 3 record deal that was signed with Disney. They asked to have Leann re-record. Wilbur Rimes who was in control of Leanns career at the time refused ( she was 14). So they got Trisha to re-record the song for the movie. When Wilbur/Curb Records found out that Trisha Yearwood had recorded it for the movie, they decided to release Leann's recording to Pop radio. Leann's recording set many records on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Most weeks in the top 40 (62 weeks), Most weeks in the top 10 (32 weeks), most weeks in the top 5 (25 weeks). Most weeks in the Hot 100 (69 weeks). The Song was # 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 of all time (initially), in the revised 2021 chart she is #6. The song never reached #1, because of the untimely death of Princess Diana, and Elton Johns Tribute song to her Candle In the Wind (in which all proceeds went to Diana's Charities) It kept How Do I Live in #2 spot for 8 weeks.
"Diane Warren wrote "How Do I Live" for consideration for the 1997 action blockbuster Con Air soundtrack. She ran into LeAnn Rimes at a restaurant shortly following her win as Best New Artist during the 1997 Grammy Awards. Warren told Rimes that she wrote the song specifically with Rimes in mind, promising it to her. After she recorded the song the next day, Walt Disney Pictures, the company behind the Touchstone Pictures label, decided that Rimes' recording had too much of a "pop" sound, and that Rimes, then 14 at the time of the recording, was too young to sing about the subject matter of the song. The company then turned to Trisha Yearwood for the re-recording, to which the latter agreed. According to Yearwood, she was unaware of Rimes' recording prior to being approached by Touchstone Pictures to record the song. Yearwood's version, which utilized a more throaty, country-western vibe, appeared in the film. When Rimes' record label, Curb Records, heard of the release, they were reluctant to release Rimes' version until Warren personally called label founder Mike Curb and urged him to release Rimes' recording as a single; her version was then quickly released to mainstream pop radio on the same day as Yearwood's rendition."
Leann's hits were Blue, Commitment, Nothing Bout Love Makes Sense, Can't Fight the Moonlight, I Need You, Unchained Melody which there is a great live version from the American Music Awards in 1997. She also does a great version of Prince's Purple Rain, and the country classic I"m So Lonesome I Could Cry (live performances).
Absolutely beautiful. LeAnn Rime's voice is one of a kind. Full bodied and emotionally charged. Fell in love with her when I first heard Blue. Fabulous. Thanks Craig. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
How do I live was from 1997 ... I was in that time just 2 years older than her, and listening to american charts so often I could. This is for me her best song! Greetings from Germany
You've probably heard this song, but you may not have heard LeAnn sing it... This was the theme song to the movie ConAir, but it was sung by Trisha Yearwood. Big controversy in 1997. LeAnn, then 14 was supposed to sing it, but her version sounded to "poppy" for the movie execs and they wanted her to re-record it more country, and the 14 yr old, "who knew everything of course, as they do at that age" refused. So they gave the song to Trisha, who nailed it as well. Well Miss LeAnn recorded it anyway, and they both released in 1997, like really close together. Split some Country Camps in half, people had definite choices over who they preferred. I love both of them...but I edge towards LeAnn, her twangy sound fits it a little better for me. My then husband preferred Trisha, we literally bought CD's of each of them...yes back then we had to "buy" CD's! 😅 Enjoyed your reaction. LeAnn has had a somewhat rough road, but her vocals have always blown me away since I first heard her singing Blue at 12 yrs. old. She's a great talent.
@@rexjdk Oh okay, maybe I don't remember because I never cared for Carrie's storyline unless Sami was involved. Because Sami was my favorite character when I was growing up.
First time I saw her was when she first released "Blue", she was opening for Waylon at a big outdoor concert in Louisiana that I used to go to every year. Amazing voice. She was just a kid then.
She and Trisha Yearwood recorded and released this song in the same year for Con Air. Leanne was just a baby at 14 and knocked it out of the park with the range of any adult performer. Trisha is the current with of Garth Brooks.
Beautiful! Please react to LeeAnn on her collaboration with country singer Eddie Arnold on "Cattle Call". This was a huge hit for Eddie back in the 60s and LeeAnn coaxed him out of retirement to do this with her. It is so great!! Thank you!
This song is beautiful. But it makes me sad. My best friend in High schools mom passed during our senior year. And this was her song for her mama 🥺 still is the song she listens to for her mama
She's absolutely gorgeous and beautiful, it's the theme song for the Movie Con Air Staring Nicole Cage,it's a good you outta watch it, loved your reaction, hope you and your family have a Blessed day 🙏
Here's an artist that has had a more stylistically diverse career than most, Marty Robbins an American singer, songwriter, Actor, multi-instrumentalist, and NASCAR racing driver. "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife-- sung by Marty Robbins" my grandmother loved listening to Marty Robbins. This was one of his popular songs that I remember.
This was a unique song. It was also sung by County Music star Trisha Yearwood. The only time that 2 artists played the same song at the same time that I remember. I was amazed that a teenager sang this song better than a veteran singer.
Well, Carole King and James Taylor simo-recorded "You've Got A Friend" in the same studio on the same day, but King (who wrote the song) allowed Taylor to release the song a few months earlier than she.
LeAnne was on The Masked Singer over here, and she won. Here is a video of all her performances and the reveal. I really think you will enjoy it and you will hear what an amazing singer she is....th-cam.com/video/X5kpsrSvzAE/w-d-xo.html
When this and Trisha Yearwood‘s version were both released at the same time, a radio station here in Lubbock used to play a duet which was an engineered version of both of their songs smooshed together. it was fantastic! I’m not sure who put it together, but I tried to locate a copy unsuccessfully for years. I did find an engineer duet of this on Napster with both of them singing it, but it was not the same one that I used to hear on the radio and was not quite as good. I have that and listen to it from time to time.
Great song! Should check Trisha Yearwood's version as well. Both were released the same day. I love both versions but have to go with Trisha's being the best one for me. She brings the emotion and maturity to it.
I prefer the Trisha version as well. LeAnn’s got a great voice, but her age and thus probably the reason for her diction of the lyrics “how do I live without chew” versus Trisha’s “how do I live without you” makes me prefer Trisha.
This was also recorded by Trisha Yearwood - I think both were released around the same time. I prefer Trisha’s version better. Trisha’s version is the theme song for the movie “Conair”. I would love to get your reaction to her version 😀😀
The only issue I have is "chew", Sometimes singers sound like they are saying chew instead of you. Once you hear it you can't unhear it! The trick to keep this from happening is to sing "oooo" . It will sound like "you". Yearwood's recording doesn't have this problem. "Chew" can totally ruin a song for me. lol
LeAnn does well on this song, but she’s still a young girl trying to interpret a mature song. Trisha Yearwood released a more nuanced version of this song at about the same time. I forget which version was used in the Kevin Costner movie, ConAir. Trisha Yearwood: now THAT’S a rabbit hole worth pursuing. Thinkin’ About You, On a Bus to St Cloud, The Song Remembers When, She’s in Love with the Boy, There Goes My Baby, Everybody Knows, and more. She was married to Robert Reynolds of The Mavericks (seen in her Thinkin’ About You video). They divorced, and she later married Garth Brooks.
I just listened to Trisha Yearwood’s version again. Her version was the one used in ConAir. Nothing against LeAnn Rimes - great voice. But comparing the two versions, LeAnn was still a young girl. She kind of bashes/belts her way through it. Listen to Trisha’s version, and you can hear the nuance, the dynamics, being delivered by a woman who has actually experienced love.
Trisha Yearwood recorded it after Leann and won an award for it. Leann sings it much better than Trisha but was thought to be too young to receive an award for a love song. I believe she was only 14 when she recorded this.
I believe she was 14 or 15 when this came out! Yes, Trisha Yearwood sang it also and some prefer hers over Le Ann's but come on, look at the age difference! For as young as LeAnn is she did a fabulous job of it!
You've probably heard Trisha Yearwood's version that they used in the movie Con Air. I think it basically came down to they didn't want a possible award winning song from an R rated movie sung by a 14 year old. Other one to check out from her are I Need You, Life Goes On and Probably Wouldn't Be This Way or her cover of Amazing Grace to name a few. Keep giving the great reactions 👍
Shes not the original but she does it better Wynonna Judd is the original singer LeAnn Rimes I believe she was 14 or 15 she was the youngest female singer ever
Her voice is so Luxurious! Put her up against any female for power, depth, range, tone, and all her little nuances she adds. LeAnn is Stellar! ❤
LeAnn Rimes has a beautiful and strong voice !
I guess it's the "music geek" in me, but I like the surprise aspect of the key change at the fifth measure @0:40 . Enjoyed your reaction, as always!
Most Beautiful song
Leann Rimes has always been able to shock and thrill her audience. She is amazing. I hope she starts to make music again. 🙏🙏🙏
According to the search I just did she was 14 when this was recorded. It was used in the movie "Con Air", but they felt she was too young to sing that for the movie version, so Trisha Yearwood was asked to record that version.
Disney said she sounded to country is the reason they got Tricia Yearwood to sing it.
Thanks for the input. I’ve always wondered 2 singers would release the same song at the same time
It was the movies producer who said Leann sounded like she was sining to her teddy bear ( I think the movies producer let Leann's age basis himself). I prefer LeAnn's version
This song was also in the Coyote Ugly movie along with more of her songs.💯

Which quickly passed Yearwood's version, and went right up to the top of the charts.

And, of course, this song-which was a MAJOR hit as well.
Yeah, this is one of those many top love songs. Its been played a ton in movies, radio, wedding receptions, etc. Its a beautiful song.
My wife and I saw her in concert about 17 years ago, and she is fucking amazing. Her voice is so powerful and beautiful
Absolutely beautiful. LeAnn Rime's voice is one of a kind. Full bodied and emotionally charged.

one of the greatest voices ever.
This song was in the movie, Con Air with Nicolas Cage.

Leanne Rymes's version was the theme song for Days of Our Live's Mike and Carrie in the 90's, She actually appeared on the soap,
@@rexjdk yeah I'm not a soap opera watcher, so never saw that.
@@rexjdk I use to watch that soap when I was 4 in 1994 with my mom and I don't remember seeing Leann on there.

soooo good soooo young, what a crystal clear voice LeAnn owns. Love all of her music. Ya this was kind of a monster hit.

Leann has shiv an awesome voice
Love her. But Trisha Yearwood sang this in the movie Conair. You really need to check out trisha Yearwood .
Walk away Joe is my favorite.
There are so many of her songs that I love ,to even name. The same with Leann. Love them both.
From the movie CON AIR !
George Stait's birthday is May 18th. Please do a George Strait review day, like you did for Reba.
Yes it was on the official Con Air soundtrack done by Trisha Yearwood who also does it beautifully. Great song and unbelievable talents!!
She and Trisha Yearwood recorded and released this song in the same year for Con Air. Leanne was just a baby at 14 and knocked it out of the park with the range of any adult performer. Trisha is the current with of Garth Brooks.
LeAnne didn't release this for ConAir, just Trisha.
She has a song called "When Ten Thousand Angels Cried." Definitely worth checking out.
Also, her song "I Believe." (DEFINITELY this one... I might get annoying again, just to see you do this one. 😂😂😂)
It's funny that her age was in question. A teenager is in love all the time and gets hurt frequently. I think she does a magnificent job on this song.
Beautiful! Please react to LeeAnn on her collaboration with country singer Eddie Arnold on "Cattle Call". This was a huge hit for Eddie back in the 60s and LeeAnn coaxed him out of retirement to do this with her. It is so great!! Thank you!
So good for someone being so young at the time of this recording. Such an enthralling performance.

My favorite LeAnn Rimes songs are “Commitment“ and “On the Side of Angels“.
The song is in the movie Con Air
I agree with Arlene. You need to hear Trisha's version. Her voice is more mature and smooth.
Trisha has some great songs.
This is my favorite version of this song. Great reaction.
Nice reaction, she does a lovely version. If you get the chance please check out the one by Trisha Yearwood, whether or not it is a reaction.
Yup. Trisha did it first. It was featured in the movie "Con Air", starring Nick Cage.
@@amandagarcia3668 no Leeann did, Trisha redid it because they ( movie ppl) felt LeeAnn was to young to have the needed emotion for the movie

Leann did it first, then Trisha. Because they said she was to young to sing the song for the movie. I prefer leAnn's version

Trisha Yearwood did it for the movie Con Air
It was a competition between her and Trisha to release it first... big debate
