Thanks for the video, it's highly informative. Is it possible to have the midi playback the chart as it looks, with the rhythm corresponding with the chord symbols?
Thanks much for the kind words. To answer your question. Yes! You can insert the notes you want to be played back as usual before applying the Rhythmic Notation style. You can even do this for bass and piano by using layers and assigning different sounds to each layer. This can get tricky though.
@@popjazzkeys Thanks for the reply. Do I need to put in the voicings for the playback, or is there a way for the playback to play generic voicings based on the chord symbol?
@@JP1979TRP Jason, Finale can play back chord symbols, as long as you start out with a template. I recommend the handwritten jazz template, to make sure it understands the chords you enter correctly. But honestly, I am too picky about how I want the voicings to sound like, so I disable chord playback and enter my own voicings.
Great, thank-you. I'm also hoping to find a video on using slashes and then some rhythmic notation over top but in a different layer, so that the drummer knows to play both things.
@@JorgeSilvestrini HI can you link me with the video you're talking about in your comment please ? the one with rhutmic notation over the top of the melody thank you
Saludos Guille - si me gustó mucho el video y estoy siguiendo a Thomas. Si necesitas alguna ayuda en el programa en Español me dejas saber. Tengo algunos tutoriales acerca de Finale y otros programas en mi canal de TH-cam.
Absolutely we can. Finale offers many options to customize a default document. We can change the chord library in many ways. For example, by importing the jazz chord suffix library. Or you can creat your own chord suffixes using any hand written font you like. You can then safe your document as the default document.
Awesome tutorial! I have a problem that you did not seem to mention in this tutorial: when playing back the rhythmic notation, I hear the chords played in the correct rhythm, but I also hear the entered note. Do you have a solution for this problem?
REALLY NICE!! One of the best tutorials for finale!!! Thanks man!
I had no idea how to create rhythmic notation in finale and this video helped me figure it out. Thanks!
Man you are heaven sent!! Thank you!!!

Hey John, I know I've done this before and created a video. If you haven't been able to do it, then I might be able to help you.

Great vid! Was also wondering what font this is?
Fantastic, I’m hoping this will work in Finale 25 for Windows.
It certainly does work with the latest version of Finale (25) for Windows and Mac.

Did you figure this out?! I'm having the same issue.
Hi there, there is a way to MUTE only the notes if you go into Score Manager and edit the staff from there!
