Right below your feet: the 250 metre vertically suspended rock’s face belonging to the Hunerkogel - and you don’t even need to climb it first. Nope: everyone can experience it without needing to exhaust themselves thanks to the one-of-a-kind platform made from glass, the Dachstein Sky Walk. Surrounding you: an amazing mountain panorama. Hello and welcome at the Dachstein Sky walk, the most spectacular viewing platform of the Alps.
On cloudless days, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the “Hohen Tauern” all the way to Slovenia and Czechia. Interesting detail: the Dachstein Sky Walk is situated 2.700 metres above sea level and is therefore, even higher located than the viewing platform at the Niagara Falls or the Iguazu Waterfalls in Brazil, for example.
Experience amazing sights - inside and out. Maybe you’ll feel a little squeamish in the beginning, but after the first few steps you’ll immediately forget all about it. And don’t worry, safety comes first at the Dachstein Glacier. The visit to the Sky Walk is totally safe. The steel construction weighs about 40 tons and is more than capable of withstanding storms up to 210 km/h and 8 metres of heavy, thick snow. The Sky Walk can accommodate up to 150 people.
Alongside the viewing platform by the top station, there is also a circular trail waiting for you. The trail guarantees beautiful views of the spectacular Dachstein East Wall and the most beautiful mountain tops of the Alps. Additionally, comfy beach chairs invite to chill, relax, catch some sun and enjoy a snack.

In February 2011 I stayed at the Aldiana Hotel in Bad Mittterndorf for a week. Logical, an excursion took us to Austria's most easterly glacier, the Dachstein. With "The Simpson" in the eternal ice and the Skywalk an unforgettable experience! Excellent!

when I climbed the Dachstein in 1970 nothing like this was there. You hired a Guide to take you up to the Top.
The ride on the gondola up on the balcony was awesome too.Definitely do the Skywalk, 5 fingers and the walk out to the mountains after the ice cave. You won't regret it.

Thank you for a superb video. However I am extremely confused on one point. From where did your journey up the mountain start from? Despite the reference in your heading to Obertraun (which is on the north side of the mountain) in the actual video itself there are references to Schladming, which is on the south side.

Today , From hallstatt by bus . 3 hour stay there, by train leave for Vienna . A good idea?,at 12:30 .p m. I booked seats from hallstatt to Vienna . Just a few trainstation ahead i can pay trai fee just to hallstatt . No problem ,right? I hope I can make it .cross my fingers for me. 😂
Wow wat een prachtige opname weer! Wat maken jullie mooie reizen. Ik zag dat je ook bovenop de gondel kunt staan. We hebben dat afgelopen oktober van de berg Männlichen naar Wengen gedaan. Onze zoon en ik moeten wel telkens hoogtevrees overwinnen maar een ervaring om nooit te vergeten met prachtig uitzicht op het dal van Lauterbrunnen. We hebben nav je video een reis naar Zermatt op de planning staan maar Oostenrijk kan ook toegevoegd worden.
