The river used to be a top ground if you knew how to fish it back in the day.. We should wade in across the river from opposite of blue lagoon at a place we called fig tree and walk the banks and fish with my late uncle.. There are some big fish abit upstream were you were alongside the golf corse, huge perch, rock salmon, big kinggies, grunters salmon and alot of times we got smashed, couldn't stop our kps and never knew what we hooked and lost it used to be scary🙈!

I grew up in Athlone area in the 60's and 70's and fished Bue Lagoon a lot. Great to see it again rom th water and producing fish. Only caught Bream and Mullet in those days on sardine mostly....
