      @@AndreaGonzalez-gq3jo Hi Andrea! You're certainly not alone 🙂 At 16 you have a fantastic opportunity because the earlier you can apply these principles the more it pays off in the future. Don't worry about technical stuff too much, the basic idea is to:
      1) "live below your means", basically meaning spend less than you earn
      2) Invest the money and let compounding take over (type 1000x1.10 into a calculator and press = a load of times, you'll see how it works).
      I can recommend Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Richest Man in Babylon as good books to get started- I wish I had at 16!

Something I did not see mentioned in this video (but super good info if you are younger), is to get insurance earlier on. Most important part about getting debt free asap into residency is about living VERY cheap. Basically keeping your student habits and not falling for lifestyle inflation - or feeling you "deserve that expensive .... " now.
      Lifestyle inflation = everything.

Coz it’s really difficult to take out time to explore new things while practicing medicine. I have also noticed that the risk taking ability is very very less in doctors as we have been trained that way that we can’t take any risks with our patients....Hello I’m Dr Pulkit from India and I feel wonderful to meet a like minded doc through this online platform

    Can you make a video on how to prepare for the medical career when your just in middle school? And is it easier to become an optometrist or ophthalmologist? What's the difference?

    • @kirespinoza
      @kirespinoza 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In high school, volunteer like crazy, get good grades, and be involved. Get into your school’s health science classes and be in involved with their HOSA program (if they have one). Other than that, nothing really matters until you are in college.

    • @Patrick-yu6ps
      @Patrick-yu6ps 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      An ophthalmologist is a doctor who finishes medical school (where he/she learns about the entire body) and then completes residency training in order to exhaustively perform any treatment on the eye including surgery. An optometrist goes to a 4 year optometry school and learns about treating the eye. While the two medical professionals may work closely together, they are entirely different careers and there is not any way for an optometrist to become an ophthalmologist without first going to medical school. An optometrist is like the primary care provider for your eyes, prescribing you contacts, glasses, and performing minimally invasive procedures. An ophthalmologist handles the more invasive procedures and more serious eye concerns. Optometry=4 years after college, ophtho=8 years after college. Both are doctors, but optometrists are OD’s (optometry doctors) whole ophthalmologists are doctors of medicine (either MD’s or DO’s). It’s pretty early to be getting ready for graduate school, but if you’re watching these videos in middle school, you’ll be fine as long as you stay disciplined. Just don’t loose track of the goal and get good grades. More is needed, but that has to be the foundation.

      if you are going to consider a combined direct med program like the above comment mentions, I’ve found that a lot of those programs like it when applicants have research experience. It doesn’t have to be much either. For me, I just emailed a local university professor to see if I could shadow one of the projects he was working on. Also be aware that these combined programs are extremely competitive, usually taking about 20 to as low as 6 students.

    2:31 I mean
    Sure, personal financial decisions are important.
    But there's no denying that we live in a pretty systemically broken economy right now and that the rags-to-riches American Dream isn't actually achievable for everyone. Social/income mobility isn't as simple as just applying yourself correctly
    I think there's space to recognise both things: that the system is kind of fucked, but that you also have the ability to make the best of it.

    horrible advice of not trying to time the market. big hedge funds and smart money prey on people with that mindset. they want you to do that so they can steal your money. learn technical analysis. anyone who knows technical analysis will outperform a buy and hold investor. markets move in cycles. most people end up buying near the top and then they lose their money because they listen to people like you who know nothing about trading in financial markets. thumbs down from me solely because of this point.
