I don't comment much on youtube videos but wanted to say something about Michael. Before I had my TV series on Animal Planet, I started off as a movie animal trainer in the early 80's and worked on a lot of movies and TV shows. In the late 80's I got a chance to work my dogs periodically on Highway to Heaven. I don't know if a lot of people knew that Michael, wrote, starred, produced, and directed that TV series, and the entire crew was awesome. The days were short and mostly shot in the Malibu area where he lived. One of the nicest and most professional human beings I have ever worked with. Anyone who worked with him will tell you the same thing. I cannot believe it has been 30 yrs.

Actually, had he, Carson , kept his mouth shut while Landon delivered his powerful rebuke of the tabloid press and immediately there afterwards ..the moments of silence Landon's cadence and phrasing offered would have had an even more profound impact on the audience. Instead, Carson's unease - which provoked his repeated interruptions - almost ruined, certainly , detracted from the message the statements carried.

I once read an interview where Landon was asked how it was so easy for him to cry while cameras were rolling. He said he had a close relationship with his father. When he was an adult he had learned that his father was heinous physically abused as a child and all he had to do was think of his dad being abused , and the water works would surge. That's some dedication to go to that dark of a place.

His TV shows did the same thing. Unfortunately people Of the character that he had Are few and far between in today's world. I can't even imagine what I would sit and watch with my young children nowadays as a matter of fact, I don't even watch TV anymore. I watch whatever vintage shows I can find on TH-cam. I stopped watching TV in 1984 in my 20s. Watched it again in 2005-2006 & was shocked to see how awful people treated one another, cussing, violence, total disrespect & mocking of any Traditional values, pushing a very liberal agenda, sensationalizing, and setting impossible scenarios and I'm from the very, extremely liberal SF Bay Area. Now, it's far worse & glorifies the basest of human behaviors.
People are capable of becoming nearly anything, but primarily are reinforcement-driven beasts. Thus, the Modeling-Effect of 📺 is so powerful, and only Fred Rogers of the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood both fully understood 📺 power, & chose only to use it for training up children aged 2-4 in basic human decency, imaginativeness, etc.
TV's early "Steve" of Blues Clues came close. But Fred Rogers wanted kids to feel a sense of safety, and gain healthy social skills because he knew many children were being raised by 📺

for what it is worth..i am 73. Michael Landon was my first 'crush.' i cut out every picture i could find of him (No internet those days folks!) I thought, and still do..he was the most handsome man that ever lived.
I don't necessarily agree with other posters, that he was a great actor, but he had a charisma that, for women especially, went beyond the ideal of male beauty and his general portrayal of a bloke we would all like to be loved by, was overwhelming.
I looked at his picture cellotaped to my wardrobe, before I went to bed at night, and he was the first face i saw in the morning. I would have swapped my middle class upbringing to be at the Ponderosa with him in an instant. He could, all at the same time, be a brother or, a lover……(no incestuous connotations meant ! We didn't know about those distinctions in the 'old days'.)
He was, I suppose, my first sexual fantasy and even now, at my age, I can say that these Hollywood manufactured idols are nothing in comparison to the supreme, natural and incomparable..Michael Landon.

@@johnbrett8788 Thank you for reminding me. My father had pancreatic and liver cancer. It went very fast. My father was not the type to go to the doctor or say he wasn't feeling well. He was diagnosed, home one week on chemo, then in the hospital for only one week before passing.
I stayed with him on a bed next to him in the hospital. He rapidly weakened so severely. The pain was that time in the hospital, at least only when he would say and did seem so. He was horribly weak, but only those four days before he went into an hepatic coma.
They told us it would only be a few days. Three days later he passed. He came out of the coma to look in my eyes and know me. I held his hand before he woke. He was communicating with his eyes, though this is "medically impossible". I told him I loved him. He took three very gentle breaths with the deepest peace in his eyes and passed.
His essence or spirt immediately filled the room magnified - like one-millionfold is the only way i can describe it. It was intense and lasted hours as my family came and I reassured them that He was at peace.
Nothing preconditioned me for that experience. I treasure it to this day. I also had divine experiences of his presence after which were profound and continued.
I'm a disabled vet from nerve gas. I was bed ridden. I prayed and studied the Bible every day. I was "permanently brain-damaged". It was extremely mechanical.
I was terribly distraught, but this is when healing came progressively. This was eight years after the damage. The muscle-wasting continued, but I had many miracles. My cat was even healed of blindness.
I felt my father with me, and feel him every time I think of him. My memory of him is crystal clear - incredibly tangible.
I asked God - really demanded - when I found out he had cancer that if He wasn't going to heal him, to not let him suffer and take him quickly. He did.
I've been so grateful he didn't suffer and went fast since. This program with Michael Landon really took me back, bringing all the emotions of the time. I was in a daze and overwhelmed, so wasn't didn't describe the pancreatic and liver. It started pancreas and went to his liver.
I sure can't wait to see my father! :) . He must have pulled some strings up there. He's been my guardian angel.
I never regretted anything with my father. I always treasured him and respected him. I showed him. I'm very glad for that too. He was such a good man. He only raised his voice, gruffly, three times in my life.
One time was when I went out in a blizzard and got a concussion. He was upset and worried that I didn't listen. I was an adult.
He NEVER hollered. Everyone who knew him had high respect for his character and generosity.
Yes, Michael Landon was a great man. Aggressive is better than endless suffering.
      He surely left his mark.

Michael Landon started out in Film and became a break-out Star on Television. First, 14 terrific years on "Bonanza." Then for a Decade, as an Actor, Director, Producer of "Little House on the Prarie." "Highway to Heaven" was the last of his great hits. A Pioneer and a truly funny entertainer who gave as good as he got.

Wow. “Us” would have been a hit show had Landon lived. This snippet is brief, but even in it you can tell it had so much potential.

What's so sad is he references tabloids and now it's MSM that's so cruel. RIP Michael Landon. ❤🙏❤

The first part of the your first sentence: truth. (And the tabloids still exist.) The second part (about the "MSM"): idiocy.
