welcome to karachi. i am american and have lived here for over 12 years with my husbands family. the hospitality is truly amazing and i still feel it when ever i venture out. as for the stomach- the food can be very oily and spicies, so if you follow your meal with a little bit of yogurt (dahi) you should be okay. but absolutely dont drink the water unless it is bottled. i still cant drink filtered water. enjoy your tour of pakistan. it truely is an amazing beautiful country. and thank you for paying it forward. that is what life should be about.. smiles

I think foreigners need to have clear cash payment conversations with vendors on spots like the Beach. You did it and you were safe.

The most beautiful region of Pakistan is Swat, also known as Mini Switzerland, which is located in the province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the people here are very hospitable, you must visit Swat once.
Indeed, very beautiful but currently not safe for foreigners, because Bajwa let all the TTP terrorists back in, after Raheel Sharif spent so much effort getting rid of them.

I visited Pakistan twice from New Delhi via Atari-Wagah Border, visited six major cities, and I found the people so welcoming and hospitable, I mean much much more than Indians. It's amazing and the non-veg food in Karachi is the Best of all of South Asia, India is so far behind, but only the non-veg food.

I'm an 82 yrs old Karachiite. Have been representing some top German companies. Welcome to Pakistan. Would recommend visiting Lahore where you would love to see historical places. Food there is very delicious n citizens are friendly there too. Enjoy the tour.

The reason you didn’t get ‘scammed’ was because you were wise enough to agree to the price beforehand. When people take rides without agreeing a price, they feel entitled to ask however much they want.

Looks like the big corporate restaurants are everywhere in the World. I knew a lot of them expanded to other countries, but McDonald's in Pakistan is a surprise.
Pakistan has KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, Hardee's, Dunkin' Donuts, Subway, Pizza Hut and so many other renowned restaurants.
