Florida May 2023 DAY 6: Islands of Adventure, Publix Shopping & Disney Springs Splitsville dinner!

- Join me and Laura for an action packed day back in Orlando! Starting by disembarking Wonder of The Seas cruise ship at Port Canaveral, we head down the I4 to Universal Orlando Resort to Islands of Adventure for early Park entry with our Annual Passes. We managed to ride Velocicoaster before the Park officially opened! After a caffeine hit at Starbucks, we also rode Spiderman, Dr Doom's Fear fall, Jurassic Park River adventure, The Hulk Rollercoaster and explored some of the shops inside the park including the Halloween and Christmas stores. Of course, I couldn't resist a go on the water sprayers at Popeye's Barges as well!
We then head to Publix Supermarket at Celebration on highway 192 to get some shopping and see what they had in store and also the pricing. The prices of the British products shocked us however we do love the Publix Deli and the Key Lime Cheesecake is one of my favourites!
To finish of our Magical day we head to Disney Springs to eat in Splitsville Restaurant for some delicious food before some drinks in The House of Blues Bar which had some great live music on. We also checked out the M&M's store too along with the Disney Style store! What a very busy day!

It was a very good Florida road trip blog day 6 today of you chilling out and relaxing on Islands of adventure and all the rides in universal it was a very good shopping blog today when you visited publix shopping and Disney springs chilling out and relaxing having your dinner and some drinks in splitsville dining room for the Florida vibes andrew and Laura / Garvey family aswell

Super interesting hearing your thoughts on Hulk. I get exactly the same blinding/white out on Velocicoaster and Rokit but not Hulk! Weird how it affects people in different ways. Wish there was a way to stop it as I loved Velocicoaster otherwise

We really like the breakfast at the three broomsticks in Hollywood (annual pass holder 😉🤣), pretty decent value for money and great atmosphere!

So wish I had the nerve to do Velocicoaster, bottled it last year & will probably do it again this year 😂 the height and upside down doesn’t bother me but the speed does. I can do anything else no problem !!! Loving these vlogs x

Great food but pricey
Loved the hulk when we were there in 2000, it was new at the time . Went on it twice, also duelling dragons at bush gardens . Would love to go again and try all those new rides, but it is quite pricey now a ten grand holiday in oct when we would want to go. Alot for waiting around over hour to get on rides.

Kong is really only good for a bit of air con when its a low wait. Would never wait longer than 10/15 mine 😂

The odds are that IOA will redevelop The Lost Continent to Harry Potter. If we accept that, I’d refurbish Poseidon’s Fury to the concluding horcrux scene in The Half-Blood Prince. The opportunity is for a dark ride involving water, fire and the undead! This doesn’t conflict with the Epic Universe plans for HP. It could be good. Great vlogs - keep up the good work!

Clam chowder is delicious guys 😂… have you not tried it? I’m not really a fan of soup type stuff in the heat though! Oh and yeh the M&M shop is insanely expensive. I was disappointed by how expensive the gifts were.

We went on Kong last time we went , no queue and it was on the way out , wasn't impressed with it tbh unless you have a window seat , you can't see much , so unless there's no queue and it's hot outside , I'd do it lol

Second time we went to universal in 2001, my youngest son and I was asked if we wamted to be part of the X Men show outside the marvel plot, i had had a slip earlier and grazed my leg and being on warfarin blood was still seeping from the graze , so asbthe crowd got bigger waiting for the show , a lady came and sat down next to where me an my son was asked to stand ready for the show, and she said 'excuse me sir , but do you know your leg is bleeding?' i said yes its ok i'm part of the stunt team, her face was a picture when me amd my son and I got called up , and i could hear her say to her husband, that man is part of the stunt crew 🤣🤣🤣
Hulk is one of my favourite rides I’m not sure I get what you mean about the head banging. To me it feel like one of the smoothest rides there

The Lost Continent still has the Mystic Fountain (try talking to it and see what happens!). BTW We were also there in May, and the Jurassic River ride was closed then. Did you try out the Raptor encounter? Never liked the idea of riding Hulk; prefer Rip Ride & Rockit.

Velocicoaster is great, but Iron Gwazi in Busche Gardens beats it I think 😮. Never thought id get on a better rollecoaster than Veloci but I have

We always find it pricey
Publix is more expensive, but the stores are always very clean, and it has the best deli. Love cornbread, but probably wise Laura didn’t get it. It’s mealy and gritty. Based on the various Florida vloggers, Brits tend not to like it. If you’ve had a corn dog, the batter on it is cornbread. Not a clam chowder fan, but don’t like fish. However it is popular here in the US. I don’t like the chunky soups either. Did Laura grow up going to Disney, or did it start when you met? BTW, Prime now also comes in a powdered mix.
Yes we couldnt get the powder mix anywhere unfortunately we got one box on the first day and that was it :(
Not a massive Kong fan, but on a rainy night last July we took our 3 year old daughter on it and she got a round of applause coming off of it because she wasn’t scared and was waving at the Dinosaurs as they met their ‘end’😂…will hold a special place in our heart for us just for that reason. It was quite a buzz in the queue because of the weather and everyone was so nice to her.😊

Went on a carnival cruise as part of my honeymoon. Went to Nassau for a day or two. Bought the package with 'tips' included.... As soon as we got on the ship over Pa system was some 'host' guy non stop talking about the staff and giving them tips... Very off putting to have that message non stop projected on Pa system and TV... Especially when you have bought the tips package. Put us right off cruises. 😐
