    Boxing is a sub-discipline of MMA, just as wrestling, BJJ or kickboxing is. All the other athletes are absolute specialists in their disciplines and there they are also very likely superior to a pure MMA athlete. The MMA athlete is the generalist. But the MMA athlete has greater versatility and can fight on other levels where the specialist has no skills at all. That is why I consider the MMA athlete to be superior in general. The rest is marketing

    MMA has exploded in the 21st century as Dan Hardy said. Boxing is very fun but only WHEN and IF the big fights happen because of the annoying promoters and boxers trying to protect their undefeated record. In MMA we don't really care about the record (Nate Diaz 22-13 record but he is a massive superstar and fan favorite, Charles Oliveira 34-9 same as Nate) we care about good scraps and exciting moments either in the mic or during the fight. Yes the wrestling can be boring sometimes but that's because we don't really understand what they are doing or don't appreciate it but the same can be said for boxing when the fighters just clinch every 5 seconds. Press conferences in MMA are way more exciting than boxing's and the production of MMA (specifically the UFC) is unmatched in comparison to any boxing's promotion. If boxing brings back the good old era where the best fought the best then I feel like it has the chances to surpass the MMA as a combat sport but until that happens MMA is the king of combat sports.

    If MMA was in the Olympic Games, it could outshine ALL the other sports.

    MMA has a bigger reach across classes for some reason, boxing is very much still a working class sport, mma seems to interest people from a wider spectrum, that could see it overtake boxing

    Boxings only big because of the legacy the older fighters left behind and how the sport used to be. Been a sham the last 20 years, look at showtime leaving the sport, it’s not a surprise ratings are dropping off.

    • @ministryOFmuff
      @ministryOFmuff ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Showtime is leaving all sports which means they're dropping Bellator too, and boxing got better ratings on Showtime than Bellator btw. Just like Top Rank gets better ratings than the UFC on ESPN and PBC on Fox gets the highest ratings of any combat sports promotion.

      Muay Thai is becoming much more popular ever since one championship became a thing, now that one championship offers bonus’ and pays higher, fighters can put on better performances and more exciting fights because they fight LESS for more money! Also, they’ve gotten rid of most of the original historic rituals of Muay Thai, they rarely do the Wai Key’s anymore and don’t do the slow starts because they’re now trying to entertain

      Unfortunately kickboxing has the pacing issue (a lot of knee+clinch+ref break in K1 rules) and also the promotion/politics issue. Andrew Tate boasts about being a 4 time world champion. In ISKA, which is a lower prestige belt than something like Glory.
      I love kickboxing, I love doing amateur fights, I just don't follow it as closely as MMA.

      Kickboxing would be the best if it was on a comparable scale to the other two. K1 was way better than the UFC in the 90s and a decent chunk of the 00s imo, but then the UFC exploded and K1 dropped off.

    I have tried, but coming from a soccer and taekwondo base, it’s incredibly hard for me to get interested in a fight in which legs aren’t legal weapons.

    Dan would win in an MMA fight
    Dan would win in a street fight

    An MMA fighter can take a and trade punches from a boxer. A boxer can’t take a leg kick from an MMA fighter. Or defend a kick in general. Or stop a takedown. Or defend a submission.

      A boxer has more chance of becoming competent enough at those things to be successful in MMA than an MMA fighter has of becoming an elite boxer though.

      😂 every mma fighter i have seen cant take a punch. They get hit, fall down and think “ f that ! I dont want to get punched in the face again “
      Then the inevitable quitting technique of “ tapping out “ comes into play.
