    Thank you for reviewing this. Other people do less in depth reviews, and I wanted to see a consumer scanner that can pick up a high level of detail, and you have shown that that exists.

      Thank you. Yes many of the reviews use simple toys or ornaments to demonstrate a scanner but natural objects have far more detail and show the true capabilities of the scanner

    You are the only 1 have I seen get decent results with this. Mine is in shipping so I hope I can get your results.

      I noticed that as well. If you watch all the other reviews that had bad results, they have terrible lighting in common. I think having your scan very well lit improves results.

      Hello I was wondering if you had any updates? Mine seems to kind of work but I can’t get the results in the video

      I have spent many hours 3D scanning with a variety of different scanners so I have had a lot of practice and tend to know how to achieve the best results. All of the scanners require a lot of patience and experimentation

    How do you post the scans to present the results on the web? What format for the scanned image; what app can you use to view/edit the scanned images? Thanks for the review.

    • @JimsonMakes

      I usually use STL files but there are several options for file type, OBJ, PLY etc. You often need to make a thumbnail from a screenshot of the scan to illustrate it. I use the scanner software for the initial edit but then put the file into Meshmixer to use the analysis tool to find and repair anomalies, Meshmixer can also be used for smoothing and making an object solid. Another free software is Blender although quite complex to learn.

    Just got one here! Same model also the handle is on the way. What is that software you use to comhine the different scan angles? Regards from Slovakia.

    Do you use any special lighting?

    • @JimsonMakes

      No just needs to be even lighting and not too bright. Avoid direct sunlight and I think some of the older fluorescent tube lights might cause problems ( not sure on that but struggled a bit when using it at work with that style of light, was probably a bit bright )

      yes , this is the idea with the scanner

    • @JimsonMakes

      Yes, that is what I use it for mainly. You will need to edit the scan and put it through slicing software before you can print it

    nice i love the scan on the claw, any chance you could scan action figure accessories no action figure just accessories, im looking for a scanner that can scan small thin objects specificly He-Man body armor those 2 piece body armor from the 80s' and recreate them as new variants along with my 90's mummies alive accessories

    • @JimsonMakes

    are you able to send
    the final scanned image to a 3D printer and print the imag in a tutorial video please?

    • @JimsonMakes

      The scan usually needs a little tidying up before printing. I usually use some software called Meshmixer. It is great for fixing some of the anomalies that 3D scanning can create. The model will then need to be put through slicing software before being sent to a 3D printer. I show some of the steps in other 3D scanning videos.

    Would you be able to link to any guides or files for building a diy turntable like you've shown in the video?

    • @JimsonMakes

      It wasn't anything special, I purchased a cheap turntable of eBay and cut out a circle of 6mm MDF as a top, this I sprayed it black and glued a few thin blocks underneath to keep it centred on the top of the turntable

      I tend to use Easy scan but with a turntable. I find that it is easier to have the object rotating even when scanning by hand. I have made a black top for the turntable.

    • @JimsonMakes

      I mainly use the scans for 3D design and printing so I am not so interested in the texture, but yes the scans do look very cool when textured

    Did you use any custom software? I tried to scan some items, but it keeps adding black blobs on the edges of the scanned item (stuff that doesnt actually exist)
    It also keeps scanning my turntable base

    • @-pablohurb9554

      If you have a guide with all your settings in the app, that would be appreciated

    • @JimsonMakes

      I use the JMStudio software to do the actual scans and the initial processing, you don't really have any choice in that. For post processing I tend to use Meshmixer. Generally I use the standard settings. You will find that you will get surface anomalies, especially on edges, these are easily removed with Meshmixer.
      You often get the turntable in your scans, just crop this off with the lasso tools.

    Did you try it on a human face? Which scanner would you recommend for scanning faces?

    • @JimsonMakes

      did not try it on faces, face scanning can be tricky especially with facial hair. Miraco is the best I have used for faces.

    • @JimsonMakes

      It is always difficult to make it profitable, 3D printing is a slow process

  • @robertj.steinberg6021
    @robertj.steinberg6021 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    A cautionary note; these are not objects with very fine detail. My experience is that the Seal scanner fails when using the "fine" setting and / or high sensitivity, (>4) and will not pick up wires or hair, despitte the advertised .01mm resolution. It also has trouble aligning multiple scans.
    I can get similar good results with an iPhone and PhotoCatch for a small fraction of the price of a Seal. The only place that the Seal excells is in scanning undercuts. It does that very well.

    • @JimsonMakes
      @JimsonMakes  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most consumer grade 3D scanners will struggle with hair. The software did struggle to align scans at times, I found that I needed to experiment with aligning scans in pairs
