  • Tutorial running through the basics of 3d scanning, editing point clouds (alignment and noise cleanup) and meshing in JMStudio (aka CRStudio) by ‪@3dmakerpro‬.
The scanner demonstrated in the video is the 3dmakerpro Seal scanner. Demonstrated will be:
    0:00 Easy Scan
9:05 Scan Editing, Manual Feature Removal
11:28 Manual Positioning and Auto Alignment
    17:00 Scan Cleanup
    21:35 Table Scanning Process
    23:55 Advanced Point cloud cleanup
    26:46 Fusion/Meshing
28:11 Repair Noise and result appraisal
This video serves as an introduction the the process that is working for me in #jmstudio and will serve as a basis for additional videos going into more detail into how to increase resolution and detail on resulting Meshed 3d objects in additional free or open source software tools (for example CloudCompare, Meshlab or Revo Scan 5).
The model used for the demonstration is a Star Wars Micro machine "Republic Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry" (LAAT/i). It measures 3cm across and 3 cm in length, and has served as a decent test object similar in size to tabletop miniatures for wargaming, or other small and details objects for which the Seal scanner is designed.

Is it better to keep the lighting dim? I had originally assumed bright diffuse light is best. But perhaps that drowns out the structured light?

Definitely curious what can be done to avoid the meshing blobbiness, loooking forward to your next vid. It seems all 3d scanners have this softening issue and it seems perfectly avoidable!

Every time I try to clean up a fusion object, one that has been processed, when I select bits with the selection tool, it auto selects the entire fusion object. Why does it do this and how do i get out of that mode? I'm trying to clean up the object and delete hanging bits and it shows the area I've selected, and then selects the entire object.
