the movie trailer does not clearly show the atrocities that were done during the partition which was basically the outcome of Gandhi and Nehru policies, this led to many people having an extremist mindset. Godse is being shown as an absolute extremist which was not the case. Showing Gandhi as a Mahatma, after knowing the real history of that person is distasteful. The sole reason for India's independence would be Subhash Chandra Bose and the Azad Hind Sena which eventually led to the Indian Navy revolting against the British Raaj.

To be fair to Godse, his reasons for doing what he did were somewhat valid. Gandhi's non violent method did cause a lot of causalities and Nehru was an inefficient political leader, despite history saying otherwise Nehru is one of the main reasons we faced so many setbacks. Sardar Vallabhai Patel was the best option for the PM position, if he was there instead of Nehru, the map depicted here by Godse wouldve been the actual map of India. Even if many don't agree, Gandhi and Nehru were faulty to a huge extent but the presence of Gandhi held a huge impact, which still makes Gandhi important but Nehru is just overrated.

I know Patel, Nehru and Bose were Gandhi bhakts, my point is Patel and Bose were better options than Nehru. Not to mention, if Hindus had retaliated to the muslim riots at the time it happened, India wouldnt exist so yes Gandhi was important but wasn't it dumb enough to even allow a ferocious riot and take a hit instead of hitting back, Gandhi sent the wrong message. Gandhi is always overrated in terms of credit for freedom struggle...all his movements although peaceful yielded no result, until Netaji subhash Bose's Indian national army threatened the British empire and even caused rebellion amongst Indian soldiers who were earlier faithful British servants.
As far as Godse is concerned, his ideology for a undivided and united India was commendable but it didn't align with the vision of Gandhi led congress who were willing to divide the nation and surrender to the demand of a separate Islamic nation. On 23th March 1931 Mahatma Gandhi writes a personal letter to Irvin with all his heart and efforts appealing him on his religious views, public opinion, internal basis and his own opinion he tried different aspects and reasons to convince Irvin But, He Failed. Bhagat Singh's father said that Bhagat Singh told him, "Let me be hanged. You just need to support Mahatma Gandhi in this journey". Above all, Mahatma Gandhi made massive attempts to save Bhagat Singh but In fact the extremists groups like Muslim league, Hindu Mahasabha and RSS did literally nothing I repeat nothing for Bhagat Singh. Well I know how it looks, Gandhi is the Saint who wants to save humanity, and Godse is the religious fanatic who kills him.
But let me tell you it's a bit more complex, the fight was not between Gandhi or Godse, well not directly, it's between two ideologies - one wanting purna swaraj(complete independence) and another wanting dominion status and advocating extreme non violence (Gandhianism) - I'm a bit oversimplifying.
Political Assaisination was wrong and Godse was put to justice, but I certainly think this movie leans towards Gandhi quite a bit.

When I was a kid I saw Gandhi on our notes and thought he must be a great person that's why he is known as the father of the nation. When I reached high school I got to know about Godse and his ideologies and the first thought was Godse is right. However I learned more. I read multiple books on Gandhi and what the greatest of people like Einstein or Sardar patel thought of him. I read all his ideologies and from where he got inspirations and later formed my own mind that "He was one of the greatest people to ever be born on this land". Now if i had made my mind like most of the people when I only learned about Godse's philosophies then I too would have been talking rubbish about Gandhi. He along with Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan were the only 2 people who were against the partition till the end moment when others including the leaders of congress wanted to divide the nation. I would request everyone to read before you for a mindset about any of the two.

It has always been so complicated, we have grown out of gandhi's heroism that we were taught in schools..
Growing up I had found it difficult to criticize godse..
Many people call the assasination as "necessary evil" but killing is something that that can't be accepted..We don't know what would have happened if Gandhi continued to live...he had an extreme influence on the people and his "extreme goodness" was leading to sufferings of his own people..
India and Indians sacrificed ,people wanted to free akhand bharat,not divide it, people fought together for it but at the end turned against each other.. And even after that expecting people to sacrifice for our "brothers".. "If someone slaps you, put you other cheek forward" this ideology did great harm than good..
There are different perspective on all this..But one thing was sure that India didn't get independence as peacefully as it has been portrayed.. Many had lost their lives.. The journey had been brutal , cruel, horrendous.. In 1857, the 'Great Mutiny' broke out in which the Hindus and Muslims jointly fought against the British. This shocked the British government so much that after suppressing the Mutiny, they decided to start the policy of divide and rule. This policy was used to keep the Indians divided so that they would be easier to control. British used this policy to create divisions among the different religious groups, castes, and ethnicities. especially Hindu and Muslims and then extremists started Riots and that caused so much violence, thats where gandhi came in and as you know according to gandhi policy no matter how much violence others do on us we should not use violence as a weapon which many agreed as well but it was Godse's disagreement with Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence towards Muslims what made him kill gandhi.

Nobody knows about Godse other than well of people. People are forced to know about Gandhi thanks to him on being on the currency. Gandhi was propped up in history books and that Hollywood film. Even in India, Gandhi was not taken lyrics as seriously it's shown now. Even Congress hated Gandhi. All fake history was written by communists during Indira Gandhi rule.

In India people don't really like Gandhi much on other hand they respect other freedom fighters more like Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad and various others....i personally don't like Gandhi as well his approach towards things where very cowardly and many decisions he took was very problematic the creation of many problems in the country was bcoz of him
