Man, I really like the black with this particular car. Saw this color in person the other day, it has a stealthy vibe to it that others don't have with this body style.
I love the way it looks when its lowered, but man, I hate working with suspension, but this does not look too bad. But I think I will still get someone else to do it when it comes time.
Very good video my friend 👍🏼 I just ordered the spring compressor. now tomorrow I will install them at my Garage bz already have the H&R Springs.Thanx God Bless
When F.A.R. Performance changed the strut-cartridges in my 240Z back in the 70's, they angled out the struts the same way that you did on the front end of your Supra! Their M.O. was way more sketchy though! Remove the wheels and tires from the car. Lower the suspension on blocks of wood. Have someone push down on the strut tower while another person wound 3-4 lengths of house wiring around the coils to keep them compressed! No fancy spring compressors were around in the 70's!
Lowering springs are extremely an underrated mod because people rather have cheap untuned coilovers that ride and drive like shit. I can’t tell you how often I see people show up at the track or autocross with poorly tuned suspensions just to get smoked by people running OEM suspension. Lowering spring manufactures already did the R&D so you don’t completely ruin the suspension geometry and can have a streetable performance with little compromise. This is the best choice for most builds. This is one of the few times where less is more. Anything more than an inch is just asking for trouble.
Very true! Especially on a car like this. Stock dampers are so good and have two modes. Springs just make it better with no hassle. Unless you’re a hard car track driving and you actually know how to adjust suspension for each different track you’re on and different conditions. Coils on a car like this aren’t really worth it
Does the kit come with bushings? I have Eibach lowering springs on it but I bought the car with them. So I don’t have stock bushings. Would I have a problem getting H&R springs installed?
In the first week or so I'd hear a click on big bumps. But that went away. Make sure everything was installed exactly like stock. Need to have the rubber things the springs sit on aligned correctly. Also will want an alignment.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Gotcha, I also installed H&R Spacers & it sounds like it may be coming from that.. Getting an alignment today so fingers crossed it gets fixed
a car im currently looking at has these installed; the dealer did not know that the H&R springs were aftermarket, but I knew from watching this video... I'm not sure if the install was a good one though or where they went to get it installed; is there anything that would alarm you in terms of that or would you move onto a different car that wasn't modified.
As long as the alignment is in check they were most likely installed well. Maybe just have the dealer or a shop double check some bolts in the control arms. But nothing alarming about buying a car with springs
@@BrosFOURRSpeed thank you for this... I drove 3+ hours away to this dealership and the salesman made it the worst experience ever..... The car would be my perfect spec but I don't want to waste my time again for that drive and not walk away with it... Those tips will definitely help. thank you! Hope your new type r has been well man, followed you on your multiple supra journey for a while.
I’d say 1/4in. After about 2 hours it should settle nicely. Right when you put the car on the ground it’ll only lower about half what it should. Give it an house or two and it should be there
There is one demerit for installing coilovers: you can scrape and damage your car to the ground while going on bad roads. My family has a 2012 Kia Rio Hatchback with coilovers installed by the previous owner, so I can torture the car on damaged roads with my fat body!
I'm installing mine H&R springs and for some reason when i put the spring back the lettering has to be upside otherwise it doesn't aling with the rubber top cover, if i put them like you installing them the lettering normal it doesnt fit the rubber cover. Any suggestions? Thanks
@@APTunning there’s gotta be something you can do tho. Not sure if you could run them upside down. Maybe. I’ve installed these twice tho and they worked the same. The top hat you can twist to line up the end of the spring with the rubber spot. Then once assembled you can twist it
sorry for the noob question, is there any spring setup that's height adjustable without requiring the car to be lifted? Not asking for air suspension, something with a knob to turn manually and change the height. I'm not a fan of permanently lowering the Supra as it's pretty low as is.
Technically yes. You can buy coilovers or adjustable lowering springs. You’ll have to take the wheel off, but you can adjust the right height manually for your desired height. Most cool over have a knob you can easily turn that will adjust the damping. But height takes a little more effort to adjust on coilovers
@@Danbae69 Keep in mind springs aren't cheating out. It depends on what you want your car to do. If you're not tracking a Supra, coilovers are a waste of money. The stock dampers are so good, better springs are all they need. Spending more money doesnt always mean better. That's just called wasting money
Just tight. I've done springs on a ton of cars. Nice and tight is about all you need. I'd assume anything over 50 pounds is good. But you can look up torque specs to make sure. But it's not hard to do even 70 pounds by hand
Correct me if I’m wrong but the Supra doesnt have a magnetic suspension. BMW as a company uses adaptive suspensions but nothing like Ford, Chevy or Ferrari’s magneride
Not really too sure if it's technically magnetic or not. But the two setting remain usable with the new springs. It's an adaptive suspension with two modes for the damping
Help please. I now have H&R installed and TE37 wheels. And had my car aligned twice already. Cause my car seems to pull to the right. Now on my 3rd alignment…the shop told me drive it again and see if it’s still pulling to the right. If it does we’re gonna have to take suspension out. What is goin on. Help please
Put your stock wheels back on and test the car with a proper alignment. Then see if your wheels are the issue. But I've had these on both my Supras and they ride like stock. Has to be a wheel/tire or alignment issue. Are all the shocks back in the right place?
@@channelgreen5949 Then something isn’t installed correctly. Are all the springs completely seated in their spots evenly? Are the front struts completely back in the knuckle?

Love the result for sure!
Thanks for the referral to Fitment. Looks awesome! Personally I like brake kit upgrades to go with everything else, but that's me.
Yeah Fitment Industries is awesome! Don’t know if I’ll upgrade the brakes on this car tho

Nope. Everything rides fine and has no issues. The suspension adapts to the lower height fine. That’s why springs are ideal for a Supra in my opinion
