Troy I think of pointing my trail hip at the ball on the downswing. Helps me get the weight shift, starts the downswing, keeps me from raising up and gets my hips open
Ok. So it's not about how fast your hips are in the first place but more question about getting the sequence right. So swinging slow and speed up would be a great practice to incorporate this.
Hi Raymond, the hips will open in the backswing usually up to 45 degrees depending on your flexibility. As they start opening up in the downswing this will return them to square before opening up more at impact. Cheers
Hi Ken, that's hard to say, but I know it works well. I always encourage every golfer to stretch and warm up before playing and doing lots of practice. Cheers
What I meant was do the hips start rotating back to the target in a rythmical effortless flowery motion before the back swing is finished rather than a stop start action with the hips and arms
It will be a flowing motion. The hips will start with a slight lateral shift before the backswing is finished and then start to rotate with the rest of the upper body. Watch someone like Rory McIlroy from face on in slow motion and you'll see what I mean. Cheers

That's okay, if that's working for you then definitely stick with it. Cheers
interesting thought you have. I have a similar thought process; right pants pocket gets to the ball before the hands
@@billhrank5327 That's a great visual to have also Bill, cheers.
Great video Troy - does this concept applying to pitching, say 100 yards or closer?
Thanks Mike, it does but you won't get as much rotation due to the shorter swing. Cheers

Yes, the sequence is a big key. Yes, that's a great way to practice. Cheers
Should the hips start rotating before the backswing is finished like in a rhythmical motion
