Today I dropped off my first EDDM order for a client. 5,000 postcards for a grand opening. No idea how well it's going to do it, but was fun adding EDDM into the mix instead of just running digital ads all day. So far I'm a fan.

The thing is, EVERYONE of your postcards will HAVE to be handled by the recipient even if they just throw it out. I don't ever open the Mass mailer envelopes, but I always look at the postcard before the trash..

I got my post cards printed but I forgot to add the eddm retail indica because I thought the post office would add that for me. WHAT are my options now??
happens all the time. you're not out of luck. Best thing you can do is email me jake@printing4supercheap.com and let me know the size of your cards and quantity, I can help walk you through how to salvage this hopefully with no extra cost. I can also explain here if needed. (I also have a video on this).

I see that on the Eagle's Landing one, the indicia is not in the top right. That will pass? I do my own design work and curious to know how much creative license I have with that and the address box. (colors, placements, etc) To make it blend in or accentuated for style. Thanks, lovin all the content!
I think all you need is a 1/8th of an inch clearance BUT do not trust me

Jake - do you have a video on the requirements for the physical mailers? Looking to mail out bulk $xx gift cards, and would like to send them through EDDM if possible - specifically hard gift cards, hoping to be able to glue them to the mailer
yes! here: th-cam.com/video/WAAC49OeBCo/w-d-xo.html. well that's for sizing but for thickness you can mail 1/4" thick. Over that it becomes a parcel and isn't compliant

probably yes, but why not print on both sides and use up that space

Not eddm unfortunately. A targeted campaign where you mail to a list would be better. The best choice that comes to mind would be mailing to new businesses that just opened

I’ve been looking into this and based on my surface level research so far is it true I’d only have to pay the postage when the end customer returns the postcard?
Also, isn’t it like only a few cents per returned postcard? I’ll be following up with the post office business office on Monday with plenty more questions..they might hang up on me lol
No that's a different type of thing, called a "business reply mail". For this, EDDM - "Every Door Direct Mail", you get to mail to every house in a neighborhood for less than 25 cents each.

that's a good question. Technically it needs to be on cardstock, it can be on really thin card stock (that's pretty much a flyer but just slightly rigid. however ...
you have probably a 95% chance of giving the post office a flyer and they approve it. That's because they only usually check for sizing and if the indicia marks are there, not the thickness. I'm not even sure they have a tool to check if something's too thin. (they check if it's too thick but not too thin).
I've seen LOTS of flyers go through EDDM and know many mail carriers who get them all the time and deliver them as normal.
So the short answer -- technically no. But most likely it'll pass.
@@HighResponseMarketing How about the mailing label? My flyers dont have them.
@@4dstransport unlikely. you can take one to the post office it has to go to and ask the postmaster, they MIGHT let you but unfortunately unlikely. If you don't want to print postcards and that are compliant you can see if they'll accept mailing labels that you'd print and stick on them but that's the only solution beside printing compliant ones! hope that helps feel free to email me if you need anything specific.

Yup, they could be snorting a line off your postcard. That means they haven't trashed it so it gets more exposure. Maybe the neighbors are over and get a second look at the postcard, "oh I have one of those cards too, I think I'll call them after this hit"

Reaching 50,000 with 25k postcards I don’t think people realize the magnitude…. Reaching 50,000 people is DOUBLE the capacity of most arenas. It’s the size of Aloha Stadium.
There’s no way you can send out 50k postcards without getting some type of positive traction for ANY business. Better make sure that phone number is correct. Lol
