- For my last Halloween special doll repaint project I've decided to make Cruella De Vil from the 101 Dalmatian movie. I will give her iconic black and white hair, a wide smile and the legendary white fur coat! :-)

When you add a green eyeshadow with this red lips, I think - oh, she looks like the Joker kinda) And then you decide to add a purple... And the Joker vibes increase a little bit more))

Thats why I didnt use any greens for mine lol😅either too christmas-y or joker-y. I used smoky white to black eyeshaddow. Cruella also canonically has green eyes. The eyes of mine are blue, to reflect a bit of Meryl Streeps interpretation. But Hazel eyes, like Poppen's version, is a pretty good idea!🤔😄

The original body seems like it would be good for a zombie. Accidentally having two left hands feels like something a zombie would do - like they grabbed a spare replacement hand without paying much attention.
To be fair to Cruella she’s clearly not doing well. Her response to being asked how she’s doing is “miserable, darling!Absolutely wretched!” And while she laughs about it I do wonder what’s going on in her head

For a bit there she looked a ton like a female version of Joker, the batman villain! She turned out so good! and that's the perfect background for posing her~

I would love to see a series based on The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy with Toto, Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion, Good Witch, Wicked Witch and Wizard. Maybe even some side characters too? Love your styles with your paint artistry. Please keep up he good work.

haha there was this parody sketch with all the villains and they were all like 'we really did have good intentions though' and then comes Cruella and goes. 'I just wanted a coat made out of puppies!' and all the others turn to her in shock and horror like 'WHY would you DO that??!!?'

I am curious to know how you decide on how to redo the hair. Sometimes you re-root, sometimes make a wig, or glue on strips or the hair itself...How do you determine what will work best? I love your videos, and learn a lot from them. Your work is always impeccable! I salute you and your Mom, you are both so talented and creative! Happy Halloween!

Same here! I came to the conclusion that when she wants to give rather wild/voluminous hair, she prefers to not re-root, as the wool already has the desired texture. Now, why -- since a few repaints already -- she rather glues the hair directly to the doll's head instead of creating a wig as she used to, I would be really curious to know! :D Fantastic repaint as always, Poppen! Thank you for sharing your talent with us

While we here waiting for Marina's reply, I will make an assumption that :
-rerooting is used to make long hair with lots of volume
- direct gluing of yarn - for short and minimalistik haircuts (as yarn is thinner than artificial hair and gives good "skull-coverage" whereas rerooted hair of same lenght would just stick out to all directions
- wig for complicated hairdos, which incorporate hair layed in different directions, but not too volumous (like Sailor Moon "buns").

This awesome doll customization reminded me of another Disney villain who would be interesting and stunning as a doll! Mother Gothel! The perfect doll for her is of course Headmistress Bloodgood, who is the only doll with an older type body! Because as much as i love the other MH dolls, a little change in the body type is always good!

I love her! Cruella is such an iconic Disney villain. I agree with you about her story being unforgivable. Poor puppies! What did they ever do to her! Haha. Even the television series Once Upon a Time made her one of the few villains/characters who was not given any empathic retelling or redemption arc. My favourite quote from her on that series is, "Some people struggle not to be drawn into the darkness. But ever since I was a little girl I've said, 'Why not splash in and have fun!" What a deliciously evil line. You did a wonderful job as usual. Your vision is truly remarkable and I just adore your work.
I agree that she's the worst villain, but you got to admit she's got style. You did so good! One of my favorites of your work.

No, Descendents if really a knock off to the original series. I'm tired if Disney stealing everything.
I like this idea, but also, Disney made Descendants specifically to compete with Mattel and is the reason why Monster High and Ever After High ended up getting canned.
I love this so much she turned out so perfect. I think Miss Pennywise was my Favourite. I'd love to see you do more Horror characters like Chucky and Tiffany or something. ❤❤❤❤

Bride of Chucky is one of my favorite horror movies, mainly because of Jennifer Tilly, but Tiffany's whole wedding dress/leather jacket look was I-C-O-N-I-C!!!!

Eeek! She looks so evil!! Love it!!! You’re getting so good with yarn you don’t need to make wefts anymore!! Impressive!! Saw someone mention trimming the fur along the seam allowance to more easily sew it together, and it’d be tighter too I guess eh?

It's very hard rescuing animals. Some that I've rescued are too ill (people poison them) and don't make it but I give them comfort and they aren't alone.
Luckily, I haven't have any more than 2 animals pass away. I work hard to make sure they are all properly taken care of. Animals are my life!
Yessss, I am Vegan. All life is precious! If only half the world would go Vegan. We would see a significant change.

As an animal lover, Cruella has always been one of the most sickening villains to me. But I have to say, she looks absolutely *STUNNING* in your doll repaint form. You captured her charisma in her style, makeup, and eyes flawlessly! Not to mention that smile! It just oozes malicious intent! Fantastic work!

You know what I really adore about this project is that you somehow made her a younger version of herself. I mean the iconic Cruella that we know is a really eccentric but very elegantly dressed woman but she also seems like her youth and beauty years are long gone by that point since she is all skinny with her cheekbones popping out of her face etc and she looks like one of those women that might have been a great beauty in her youth and still won't get used to the fact that she will not be as beautiful from now on and she tries to cover that with elegant clothes and exessive makeup.
What I like about the doll is that while you do make that high cheekbones-detail excellent with her makeup, her cheeks are still fleshy and more lively so somehow she looks really close at how she would have been if she were younger (and many women turn gray really early so maybe Cruella was one of them, I mean her mental state does point out she gets...let's say...anxious a lot.
Anyways both the fleshy cheeks as well as the difference of her makeup (adding purple to the shadow and not only green) makes Cruella a lot more like a younger version of herself, how she might have looked if she were like ten or twenty years younger. I mean I am not sure what year 101 dalmatians is supposed to be taken place, I would take a guess that it represents the year it was made so, it was somewhere in the 50s so that wouldn't be so unheard of if Cruella had been a flapper or something at the 20s when she is younger and the really smoky eyes or the exsessive makeup was really a thing back then.
Somehow indeed imagining a young Cruella with exactly the same unstable mental state is even more of a dangerous image, taking under consideration she wouldn't be only crazy but also young and vigorous.

I think this is my favourite of your conversions. You have really caught that DeVille look. The decision to paint the gloves, rather than try to make them, was the right one. I am somewhat reminded of Harley Quinn with this doll - I'm not sure why.

i love how Glenn Close portrayed Cruella in 101 and 102 Dalmatians, also Victoria Smurfit's performance in Once Upon a Time was grat. They set the bar very high for Emma Stone.

I really like how you painted the arms instead of making gloves! Cruella's in the movie are already so skin tight so I think the paint makes the perfect illusion!
Love it! Love her dress and her expression! I just have one question : is it easy to put the head back on the body without ruining the face? I'd be so worried to ruin it with heat :c
I don't think any heat is needed to put it back on because of how the neck piece "hooks" are placed. I might be wrong, tho 🤷♀️
You don’t use heat when placing the head back on
You do need to be careful not to squeeze too hard. I've seen sealant crack and apoxie mods crumble if you're not careful 😭
You know, I'm going to be honest. I do have items made from animal skins and furs. I have a family friend who is Ojibway, so the animals were eaten and little was wasted from the carcasses. I don't consider fur unethical as long as the animal isn't raised solely to become a coat (like foxes and minks at fur farms).
She looks really amazing! I feel the same as you about even the idea of hurting dogs to make a coat. I'm a retired animal cruelty officer and investigator. I still have nightmares about the atrocities I've seen at the hands of human beings. But Disney's Cruelly is just funny. The dogs pull one over on her! Thanks for sharing her!
The live action 101 Dalmatians was the first movie I ever saw in a theater; and cruella is such a wretched villain! This doll is stunning, your skills always blow me away 😍
You should do more smiling dolls or just body modifications in general like adding clay to make thicker thighs and hips and the like
