    In Germany they use mineral water (carbonated water, like seltzer) so it tastes like soda :D maybe I can get my friends over there to send you an elderflower syrup!
    Edit: If you were to just ask for a glass of water in a restaurant, chances are it will be bubbly. You'll specifically need to request "still" water :)

    • @enragedfireplug213
      @enragedfireplug213 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting - we actually have small soda machines for that purpose, well, at least me and some of my friends do lol. Your solution sounds much easier tho'.

      Ryan Cabrera Also some western countries, Germany included, automatically serve water cold, maybe with ice! I have a Chinese friend and she was really surprised because some cultures prefer hot water

      I LOVE elderflower juice (especially made of bubbly water) We don't have it here in Finland (at least I haven't seen any) but I drank it in Hungary and it tastes so awesome. I've never before tasted a flavor like that.

    early to an emmy video !!! im so excited !!!! i love your"emmy eats" vids... i think of any foodie type youtuber you're my favorite. you just taste the food and give your honest opinion, describe the taste and texture, without overexaggerating or pulling any over the top reactions just for views. you're refreshing, funny, and genuinely sweet

    I'm surprised flavoured syrups are not a thing in the US, seeing how they love their sodas and Koolaid there. Just add water, and tada, a sweet beverage!

      its because we have so many zero calorie super condensed drops. Basically the same thing, but need much less so need a much smaller container. TBH us americans need fewer calories in any way possible, and syrups are NOT the way to go haha

    • @antthez
      @antthez 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheChaoticLoser Well, it's carbohydrates and fats that are the problem, not calories. More specific Monosaccharides and saturated fats. Maybe some disaccharides, not 100% sure. :)

      They are a thing. We usually add them to tea or soda water to make italian soda. I have no idea why she's never had any. Maybe not a thing up north? I know for a fact they also use them in California, and if they're out west and south why not in the north as well? A couple of the brands sell online as well. I first used them in middle school, and i'm 32 now. So it's nothing new. =D

    • @JMarieCAlove
      @JMarieCAlove 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      korohacker We do have flavored syrups in America, Kool-Aid is more of a kids beverage but it's not as popular as it use to be since there a lot more healthier better tasting beverages for kids that parents prefer to give their children

    Yes I agree with you that one has certain associations with colour and tastes - I once on a whim put red food colouring into a rice pudding and it was so strange to eat cause rice pudding of course has this rich creamy taste but my eyes wanted it to be sweet and fruity.

    Do they not sell Ruebena in the States? Its like concentrated blackberry syyrup and apparently you need just a very time bit of it. I didn't know until I saw my husband actually making it. We started adding it with natural cola (sweetened with stevia) and it kinda tastes like a cherry coke. Really good.

    Hey Emmy,
    i grow Waldmeister in my back yard here in Germany. You would not be impressed by the taste of the leaf itself because it tastes more green/leafy than anything else. I usually make my own syrup which also tastes very little like the artificial candy that you can buy. It is a lot more herby and fresh. Nontheless it is delicious but very unfamiliar to the people who only know the artificial stuff.
    Have a great week!

    My lovely cousin sent me some of those Oreo Cadbury eggs. I believe she ordered them from Amazon. I think you'd love the packaging-a purple egg carton that holds 4 of them. The chocolate is thinner than a normal creme egg, but the inside is a lot thicker, almost the creme from the middle of an Oreo thick. Bits of Oreo add a crunch to it. Also comes with a little spoon to eat it with. I enjoyed them, but think I prefer the original creme egg a bit better. Fun to try though!

    It's hard to find actual, fresh woodruff in Germany, since it releases coumarin when it wilts. It can't be used in anything a child might consume. There's a few traditional alcoholic drinks where you can still use it to make them, but the coumarin levels are heavily monitored.

    In Berlin, you can get beer with some woodruff syrup in it. It's pretty good! There's also a red version too, but I don't remember what the flavoring is in that one or what the drinks are called unfortunately.

    Wow that marzipan chocolate bar is a huge amount of marzipan! Especially with how rich it is!

    Hahahahaha at the syrup thing. So many people make that mistake in Czechlands too and then complain "your juices are wayyyy too sweet".
