I literally was in a very similar situation. It's true she will hate her sperm donor and possibly loath her half sibling because he chose them but couldn't love her.

It's not making sense to me either, especially that whole, "If I relinquished my parental rights and give my ex full custody, I won't have to pay child support anymore." Dude, you're still the biological father. You may be able to relinquish your parental rights, but you still might have to pay child support.

It should be illegal to “dump” kids just to get out of paying support. My daughter is 42 now and I raised her alone from the time she was 6 months old. He didn’t relinquish his rights but never gave me a penny.

Technically he would not be able to sign over his rights usually without another person to adopt them and when if he did it doesn't mean he gets out of child support he just has no say about his child
Child support is a voluntary contract (42 USC 403) with a private business (42 USC 654 (3) "single and separate unit") that is contracted under the EXECUTIVE branch in every State. There is no such thing as court ordered child support. Courts and judges are strictly the judicial branch and separation of powers which we all learned in middle school prevents a judge from acting in a judicial capacity in child support hearings 🤷

I was adopted and then my adopted family had it reversed a year later because my cptsd was too much for them to handle.. the judge found that abhorrent and ordered them to pay child support.. meanwhile.. my friend has two father's to her children. One has never had to pay a dime in child support but still has visitation rights.. and the other one never even signed the birth certificate or saw his kid but has to pay child support.... Its pretty wacky how the rules aren't the same across the board. I feel as if they should be. Its not fair to some kids that they get extra support while some get none... It makes the difference in if they get a Christmas or new school shoes sometimes you know.
Although I'm quite amused about her one sons father who avoided signing the birth certificate to attempt to avoid paying support... He's never seen his child and thought that would do the trick but nope she got a DNA test ordered... Its ironic because had he stepped up to be just an active parent she never would have went after him for support.... I think that's true with most mother's actually. If they have help with their kids they aren't going to try and make you go bankrupt.

So sorry :/ my Dad was in my life growing up but he got drunk 24/7 and was a very miserable person to live with. Extremely verbally abusive and toxic. The best thing about it is, the courts don’t just let parents “sign away” rights, especially for monetary reasons. The courts don’t just take away children, bc it more likely the state will have to support the child and they don’t wanna do that. it’s a hard process, the guy will have to prove why he should be absolved of responsibility of caring for his child, and he doesn’t have a valid reason. He’s just a lazy, dim witted bum and that doesn’t fly in court 😂

Damn, my kids are grown adults and I make 6 hour round trip, day trips to see them. This low life won't make a trip half that distance to see his baby? Worthless!
.....Why are you making the drive? Why aren’t they driving to you? Sorry but I think the burden should be on the adult children to make the drive to see the parents. When my kids were little and we lived three hours away from my mom, we would drive to her once a month. I’d feel bad making her drive all that way to see me.
@@ditay8208 Because my children have jobs and families, WE are retired and have nothing BUT time. I'm sure for you it made more sense for YOU to make the drive, but we are both healthy and strong, even at our age, so we CHOOSE to make the trip rather than have them pack up the kids, the dogs and three suitcases to make the trip. Plus, we don't have to clean up the mess of the kids after they leave.😉
I have the same situation but my kid is 4 hours away. I also do day trips frequently.
@@D_Parks It's easier for you to make the trip, isn't it? We've found that it is much easier for us to make the drive than the family to pack up all the kids and dogs, drive with the kids and dogs for a weekend, because it isn't worth them coming for just a day when it takes so long to get everyone ready in the first place. We can be out the door in no time. Throw on some clothes and grab a few snacks and we are gone. Plus there is the financial aspect. Our kids are still paying for their house, ours is paid for. They are saving for their own children's college education, obviously we had already put ours through college. Sure our kids make good money, but they need to put it towards other, more important things. So yes, we chose to make the trips. Our family is important to us, as I am sure yours is important to you, we do what we can to make life better, easier for our family and to keep them close. I guess this younger generation just doesn't get that.

The day or one night trips keeps me in my grandson’s life, is super easy on me cuz I can rest the next day back home and while I’m there I can help with the baby and they don’t need to entertain me! They do come to my town for longer visits some and to see other family too.

I was a teen Dad, I was lucky to have a Dad who made me man up, I went to school, went straight to a job I got at a gas station, worked until 9pm, got home, studied/did homework, and did it over again every weekday; I saw my daughter at the weekends. Now I'm 36 with a 20 year old daughter who's now in college and to say I wouldn't change any of it for the world is an understatement. This guy will regret how he behaved for the rest of his life.

Parents like him are the reason why it motivates me to be the best dad I can be when I have kids.. my sperm donor was a druggie and a abuser to me, my sister and mom.. he never took care of me and my sister as well, when I was 7 my mom had the courage to leave my sperm donor.. granted my sperm donor was given a 2nd opportunity when I was 10 to be in me and my sisters life, but once again he screwed that up.. all my sperm donor did was play victim due to the fact his father wasn't in his life... When I was 8 going on 9 my mom got married again and my step dad took care of me and my sister like we were his own kids even though he already had two of his own, I don't consider him as a step dad he is my dad.. and I'm forever grateful for everything that he has done for me, my sister and mom..
