      Same for me. I had the chance to move to my grandparents and just visit my mom on weekends so I did. Then I had the chance to move out of my grandpa's so I did. My family all have similarities but with that makes whatever differences big and our reactions to it bigger. It also didn't help that my brother was very violent. And then everyone else started becoming violent and sadly at that point I learned violence too. Now not living together, we have a great relationship. But what happens around you as a kid definitely changes you. As a kid, I spent so much time at friends' houses or in highschool I had so many extracurricular activities and I was barely home. I remember asking a friend to stay over because there was a huge fight going on at my grandparents between them, mom and her bf, and my brother due to what my brother did. It wasn't safe for me my grandma told me so she drove me over to that friends house. My mom's last two ex's were trying to hide the bs they put my mom through. But towards the end of both relationships, it started to slip and they'd try doing it to me. And around that time my mom finally had enough and left. I hope this mother does the same. I'm a little worried bc she was making excuses on stage as to why she stays. While they are valid concerns, Steve's there to help them with such things. She should never pick a man over her kids and I hope she truly does pick her kids.

      it's a tactic abusers use often. when we ask "why do women stay with their abusers" it's because they became dependent on them. just like the mother here and countless women in the world, the abuser is the one that owns the home and the victims are afraid to get help because they ask themselves "where are we going to live after?"

  • @chelseagrace1000
    @chelseagrace1000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +895

    This is a prime example of why you shouldn’t depend on a man, spouse, etc. All she kept saying is “where are we gonna go?”. So now she’s stuck having to take all this just so her kids can have a roof over their head but the roof is filled with chaos and abuse.

      @@dr.aquafresh58 I never said that. If my significant other moved out today, we would both sell the home since we BOTH own it. If my significant other moved out today, I’d have no trouble finding a smaller place to live on my OWN. My significant other and I do depend on each other but we are not codependent to the point that we cannot survive without each other. He makes more money than I do, but I can easily live on my own which I did for three years prior to even meeting him at less than what I make now. This woman has made multiple children and is now so codependent on that man that she cannot even remove herself and her kids from an abusive situation without ending up completely homeless with nowhere to go. In fact, it’s a tactic abusers use to make sure you can’t leave them! They isolate you, make you think you can depend on them completely and that’s when the abuse begins. That’s why, no matter what, you always have your own. Even if it’s just a back up.

      When there's a word 'step' in front of mom dad, etc. You're still technically a parent to their kid. Whether or not they like it. You're still a parent to the biological kids. For example, a stepmother. The mother isn't related to dad bio kids but still a parent to them. Another one step sibling. You see here. The siblings aren't related by blood, but they are still technically sibling blood or not. So when he said, "That's her son, not my son," it shows you he isn't capable of being a real stepfather who loves the kids no matter what step kids included. But yeah, he ain't a real father, let alone a real stepfather. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

This child is being beaten by this stepfather? Wow. I would be in jail if that were me, because no man will put his hands on my kid and survive. And by the way he carried himself at 15 I dint think we need to worry about him. The kid stepped up.

    You can tell from this story that the mother is one of those women who knows that her son is hitting a raw nerve in the truth when it comes to it. However the mother is so afraid of being alone and starting over from scratch that she would rather stay in an abusive relationship and tell her son to fall in line then to just basically do her own thing and be in a healthy environment for her and her children. This is one of those situations where the sun is either going to have to apply for emancipation or just go no contact with everybody in that household when he turns 18. Even though this was an old episode I hope he either got out of that house through emancipation or just literally through no contact at 18

    • @jest9504

      I must say that it's not always the fact a woman is afraid to be alone, but the abuse will cause self esteem and self security issues. As an abuse survivor, my ex made me feel like I couldn't do anything without him, and it didn't happen overnight, but over a long period of time. He made me question everything I saw and heard. Watching this, I see all the signs... We're not always afraid to leave because we'll be alone, but because we're afraid of what he will do. When he hits you, you believe it when he threatens to harm others....even worse when the law system has already failed you, and you don't know who to trust for help.

I hope that her son helped her see the truth of it all so that they can all start over together. They’ll be all the better for it.

I think they also think that no one else would ever want them because like in this case, the female is overweight, probably drinks and do drugs, got no intention of ever having a job, got nothing to offer in terms of outdoors activites and healty lifestyle. Like what man would wanna marry her after she divorce? No man wants a lazy wife that spends her day eating and doing drugs.

    I'm 16, and I've gone through exactly what Freddy's has gone through. It only stopped in July of 2023. I can relate so much to this kid because I was in the exact same situation. It's crazy to see how similar children who have gone through the same treatment end up being, mature too early, mental health struggles. I've had to fight for my mother the same way he had to, and I hope for him all of this bs has stopped. Never ever should a parent put a relationship before their children. If a step-parent is not ready or mature enough to take care of kids, then hell, he shouldn't be around in the first place. Adults make their choices, choices that affect kids. My step-father is in prison today, and I am still recovering. I have scars, anxiety, panic attacks about everything that happened. No kids or teenager should have to go through that. I am praying for my recovery and his because this is truly traumatic.

      It's the old school way of thinking even if your parent allows you to be abused or mistreated by their spouse or long-term partner they still expect for you to treat them with respect even if they are in the wrong. And the sad part about it is most of these parents don't realize that until the children had just had enough and called them out of their names
