  • Last year we covered the news of the so-called Mount Ebal Curse Tablet. Today we revisit that tablet and critically analyze the recently published peer-reviewed paper of the artifact. We will focus on some of the critiques scholars will likely bring against it, namely the epigraphy, the dating of the artifact and the sites strata, and questions about their independence from their institutional funding. Let's dig in.

3:11 Can y’all link what critiques you found valuable in the description? You also never mentioned my video on the topic. Am I not good enough for you? 😭😭 Just kidding but on a real note, it’s crazy how unanimous the rejection of this article has been in scholarship. The only scholars that I’m aware of that haven’t completely rejected the findings of the article are scholars that worked on the article and Douglas Petrovich.

Answer to the problem of Evil:
The Manual of Discipline, one of the Dead Sea Scrolls, says that God created two great spirits, one of truth and one of perversity, the latter being the angel of darkness.
'Through the angel of darkness, however, even those who practice righteousness are liable to error. All their sin and their inequities, all their guilt and their deeds of transgression are the result of his domination; and thus, by God's inscrutable design, will continue until the time appointed by Him.'
    1 John 4: 6
6 We belong to God. The person who knows God listens to us. Whoever doesn’t belong to God doesn’t listen to us. That’s how we can tell the Spirit of truth from the spirit of lies.
Spirit of God (Ruach Elohim) 😇
the Spirit of the LORD (Ruach Yahweh) 👿
Just as "Ruach Elohim" from Genesis 1 is
"Spirit of God" and not "Spirit God",
"Yahweh Elohim" from Genesis 2 is
"LORD of God" and not "LORD God".
Usurper: the LORD of God (Yahweh Elohim)
Deciever: the LORD your God (Yahweh your Elohim)
God (Genesis 1) has a bunch of titles. The usurper/deciever (Genesis 2) wants God's titles.
Anyone know how to say "the LORD" in the Bronze Age? BAAL.
    2 Samuel 5: 20
    Names of God Bible
20 So David went to Baal Perazim and defeated the Philistines there. He said, “Yahweh has overwhelmed my enemies in front of me like an overwhelming flood.” That is why that place is called Baal Perazim [The LORD Overwhelms].
In Canaan (Bronze Age Israel) Yahweh was called Baal-Yaw or Baal-Yam (see Mt Ebal curse tablet YHW) and his titles were the Dragon, the Seven-headed Monster and the Twisting Serpent (in reference to twisting scripture)...
Baal-Yam (Yahweh) was the first King of Canaan.
...then he got kicked out of Heaven (off Heavenly Mt Saphon) by the good Lord Hadad.
This all happened in the Baal Cycle which is the prequel to the Old Testament.
    Baal means Lord in English.
Lord means Baal in Bronze Age Israel (Canaan).
Yahweh makes you kill your relatives, friends and neighbors (exodus 32).
    Yahweh condones slavery (Leviticus 25).
Yahweh accepts child sacrifice (Judges 11).
Yahweh is from Edom and Seir (judges 5, Deuteronomy 33).

I could be missing something here. But I keep seeing people display one image, which I presume is only one slice of the tomographic scan and then laying over the proposed letters. Didn’t they identify the proposed letters by looking through multiple slices/depths not just one slice of the scan?

    • @BeneaththeBible

Really good question. Robert Cargill’s video uses a flattened composite with all the layers in one image, and he doesn’t find any convincing images of an inscription. His video does a good job evaluating the image itself if you want to check it out.

    • @hannahpresley694

I see the man with his hands up and the ox head "A". I've heard scholars say they couldn't make anything out. That is either amazing ignorance or they are lying, as with my limited knowledge I know what these characters mean.

Given a random collection of lines and shapes, a human can find lots of things that are recognizable. It's what the human mind does. But it's still just a random collection of lines and shapes.
The other issue, or course, is that no one in human history has ever "written" like that. Random orientations, no organization or order. Which is what you'd expect if what is there is actually random and not made with intent.
