Some of the earlier online comments seem to validate Bilahari's comments about social media in his book.
6 years after it was first published, "Singapore is still not an Island" is still relevant and important
for the less-informed among current and future generations of Singaporeans
on the stark realities confronting Singapore from abroad.
Being small, open and with scarce resources,
geographically and strategically located in a contestable region since pre-colonial times,
multi-ethnic and multi-religious with primordial fault lines
Singapore will always have to live with and address these inherent vulnerabilities.
Like LKY's "Hard Truths to keep Singapore going",
Bilahari's "Singapore is still not an Island" remains a must read
for those who are committed to Singapore's welfare
to better understand and appreciate why and how Singapore conducts foreign relations.
As a people, let us remain united (as opposed to divisive)
in the conduct of our foreign relations too.

O Singapore not an island?!? Or they are afraid it will be like Hawaii island where dunno how and why so many houses caught fire. I still can't fathom how so many houses caught fire so fast and so quickly.
