- Due to time limitation. In this video we decided to move on to the Motorsport devlopments of this car as we are running out of time. This car needs to be ready for the upcoming car shows and track days so we decided to start this jurney with an induction kit followed by alot of cool videos very soon. I fitted this to my GLA 45 at Christmas which is the same engine & at first I thought it made the car very different, limp & civil with no induction sound & front engine noise. So I drove the car for one day and then I thought I would take my son out to see what he thought and he agreed with me. We didn’t know at the time if the top should stay on or off the box, so I removed the top and it changed back to the monster it should be with the induction noise coming through now and I think it makes the pops & bangs a bit louder, ( you must have had to take back out again for the air sensor fit as I made that mistake as well 😂 ) I see in you video you have the top back on your box ? What do you think, is your top on or off as mine is left off now. I also now fill like it’s ready for a stage 1 remap if I have the balls to go through with it,

Yes with the lid off the car does sound pretty cool, but they’re are some draw backs … if your using the car for normal daily driving it may not make much of a difference with lid off “although we don’t recommend it here is why” as you drive and especially in situation where you push the car which you would. The engine bay heats up rapidly and the air around is heated up.
Now with the filter box open, the filter will suck in a lot of the hot air due to air pressures and some what fresh cold air that’s coming from the front grill through the feed pipe. This hot air will affect you performance. You may not notice much difference if you’re driving the car locally but on tracks days, performance runs, or drag strips you will not get away with it. And thus we advised to keep the lid on at all time so the engine is fed with fresh oxygen rich cold air and thus eliminating additional effect of the performance of the car.
I hope that has explained it as to why we would put the lid on. Rest is your own choice.

@@KHANPerformance Many thanks for your reply Khan, I do understand what you are saying, as my concerns was the heat in the engine bay 👍 I may try it back on for a couple of days and see how it goes, as I never give it much of a chance but I did think it made a difference off, as I was close to buying the MST INDUCTION KIT but this one has no top.

@@garyhoward9592 MST kit is designed in different way. Box seem to be open, but height is different and its designed in the way that box get closed and sealed once you close the hood (hence the rubber sealing around top of the box). So bascially your hood acts as top cover for the air box.
keep the lid on gary . the factory sealed air box is the best with a good air filter . you want cold air direct to the filter .. no hot engine air.. even when the car is underpower . the beauty about the sealed air box is when the car is moving with a good cold air feed
Can the air inlet be purchased separately & allow me to buy my own filter from like a Spectre or other mfgr?
It is sold as a kit, however you can but the kit and not use the filter
Hi guys when disconnecting the Ecu did you disconnect the battery? Thanks
You only need to disconnect the battery if you haven't got a tool to clear the faults afterwards. But for safety you should always disconnect the battery before removing the ecu.

Bro i got red cla 45 amg i am confused about ams filter and ams air intake, mishimoto filter,dna filter ,pipercross which one is best how you feel after installation of this filter what are the changes that you notice in acceleration pick up and noise pops and bangs
Glad you asked. We have compared few different filters in the same vehicle we may release the video sometime in the future. The difference between the filter themselves is not noticeable. However, the most important part of the induction system is the 4'' adapter! this is essential part of the upgrade and rest you can stick on any brand filter.
The 4'' inlet and filter to go with does make the throttle very responsive and to see the full potential of the filter you need to remap the car to see the gain. Stay tuned for the coming videos where we talk more about this and the power gains.

Why are you on about air flow and it being restrictive. Check out the inlet size on the turbo…… doesn’t matter a shit what size is at the filter turbo will only take as much as it needs.
