Start off by thinking of someone you quite like in a show or film, buy a figure of them, and see how you go from there. If you have a work desk, or somewhere you might sit to write letters, you could put the figure on your desk as a little ornament, and look at it often?
Started collecting a few months ago, the discord has been the greatest help when I have questions about figures or just want to nerd out about the line. Joining the discord definitely increased my interest in collecting Black Series.

Best advice I ever got when I started 5 years ago 1. Try to focus on an era or character you actually like 2. Collecting is a marathon- not a sprint. 3. When in doubt, wait for the rerelease! Sincerely, a guy who acquired all TCW Jedi/Commanders at or under retail by waiting for the rerelease

I've been able to acquire probably at least 10 figures over the last few months because of you guys notifying us of sales and I appreciate it very much
I did write that comment in my usual "flippant" manner, but once I re-read it (and I admit it's a little silly and blunt) I do actually mean it wholeheartedly. I really do like every figure in the line. Each one is either good, bad, ugly, whimsical, important or terrible... There are brilliant examples of great characters and there are some true stinkers, but each weaves a small piece of a truly rich tapestry. This line we collect, pound for pound, is truly phenomenal.
Got my start two years ago just getting a Mando here, maybe one there if they were cool looking enough. Then last Christmas the wife got me a flood of Black Series ... so here I am!
When I first started collecting, one big hurdle was understanding the sublines like Archive, and figuring out that there is nothing "vintage" about TVC and that it's a 3.75" inch line.
The line can be overwhelming when first starting collecting so it’s dope of you guys to help out those newer collectors (“who don’t exist”lmao). Good video as always guys.
Completely right about few things being actually difficult to find these days, I even found slave Leia in box at a toy fair for $30 recently! Thinking I’ll finally join the discord, the facebook groups ain’t where it’s at these days.

The reissues are the same figures, no improvements. However the Archive will do a photo-real update, or if they repack the figure into a different set in the future. Like the Clone Wars Obi-Wan and how it kinda looks different in the new 2-pack. -Justin

I'm struggling with GR8 NEWS this time... It might be THE BEST EVER NEWS, SINCE THEY BLOODY WELL INVENTED NEWS!!!! I GOT "KNEEL" THIS MORNING!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ HE POSSIBLY MIGHT BE THE BEST BS FIGURE.....EVER!!! Joking aside, he's absolutely fantastic! He definitely "checks out!!" I can't remember the last time i got a figure that made me this genuinely happy. I have a massive smile on my face, every time I've looked at him. My only problem is whether I absolutely rip the box open now (carefully remove the figure and lovingly re-make the box to then cherish it, then hoard it FOREVER in my attic) or leave him as a proper treat on Christmas day? I'm torn!!

The 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith I hope brings some great releases! I’ve been out of collecting for a few months but I just bought the Episode III Palpatine.
Good stuff, as always OTTB! 👍 As someone who collects both loose and new, I'm always looking for the best pricing. I now check ebay for BS lots of a particular figure or series (e.g., Star Wars Black Series Din Ahsoka lot or set). Also, if you do buy used/loose figures and aren't a smoker, be sure to ask if the figures are SMOKE FREE! I once learned the hard way and could never completely get rid of the cigarette smell. After trying all the techniques of deoderizing and cleaning, I ended up trashing them. Also, Ali Express KOs. :) I wish I had found out about them sooner than I did.
Something that might be interesting for beginners would be your guys opinion on what the current definitive editions of major characters were. Like Luke, Han, Leia etc as it is not always the case that the newest release is the best.

This info would’ve helped me so much when I started collecting, espeically knowing about fan channels. I started in the red and black boxes and I didn’t know about figure announcements or preorders so I would only get figures when I would randomly find one and have no idea it was a thing, Jango Fett got me collecting and I had no idea about it if I didn’t find it the 1 time I saw it at target
If you go into the settings of that specific text channel, I believe that's where you find the notification options that would be specific to that channel. I didn't use Discord before making one for OOTB so I'm still learning myself, lol! -Justin
I followed the channel for a while before I purchased my first BS Figgy. I like star wars, I like quality content made by real fans vs “influencers”, and I think action figures are cool. So yes, new collectors exist, I am one of them.
Unfortunately it is more difficult to get certain figures if you live in the EU, especially in germany. You often need to pay over retail because otherwise no chance. For example need to pay 100 bucks for Arc Echo, because it's not available anywhere else and unfortunately it's the only Arc I'm missing.
If it is from EE and it’s been that long since you’ve preordered the figure you should cancel the order and get the item elsewhere. EE is notorious for dropping long standing preorders.

New collector from Asia since 2021 How can we find info on wave releases? Loved your retrospective history videos (when will we get the next one?) and you go through the figures by wave. Where can we get info on previous waves? Are figures still released by wave? Since they seem to randomly drop figures now. Keep up the good work, your channel and BS Cantina helped me out a lot in my early stages of collecting
I don't think there are new collectors every day 😂 definitely a good video new people exist but I strongly believe its far and few in-between. I'm happy to be wrong though.
