I don’t think it’ll catch on with too many people but it is gonna absolutely suck if there’s a set you want and the only one available gets its price jacked up because the box is clean 😂
Agreed. Honestly, I would rather Lego make it as big as possible instead of making it smaller with minifigures. Since most of the figures they will include in the new Death Star are most likely already released.
@tabletopstudios66for a $1000 Lego set I would like to believe that most minifigures are going to be exlusive with arm printing and duel moulded legs. However with the way Lego is going on the past years I highly doubt it
AskMandR: Do you think there's a possibility that the rumoured $50 Turbo Tank could be a 4+ set? With Mando's N-1 being $30 I don't think it's too far of a reach that Lego would charge $50 for a dinky little Turbo Tank, then maybe throw someone like Bly in it to make more people that normally wouldn't want it to buy one, similarly like what they did with R5 in the N-1
AskMadnR: I recently broke my 2016 Death Star and when I was rebuilding it I noticed that the instructions were more complicated and less simplified than set instructions (even 18+ sets) today. Do you think this is surprising considering that Lego has gained way more adult fans and has catered more towards them? Love your videos man keep up the greatness!
18+ doesn't refer to difficulty level, but to whom they're trying to market the sets. 18+ sets are often extremely simple to build and easy to follow in the instructions precisely because Lego is trying so hard to bring in new adult fans with lots of disposable income who don't know Lego building techniques intimately the way hardcore AFOL's do.
if you did not know, on the jedi bob’s star-fighter, you can take off the piece that is used to hold the milk and banana and put the droid in that hole
We are already paying $1,300.00 in Australia for the UCS Millenium Falcon and the A.T - A.T. I'm a little scared to see the final price for this new Death Star.
300 for the ucs slave 1 is just down to the ‘Star Wars tax’ Lego has just renewed the licence with Disney and as Disney isn’t making any money they’ve increased the Star Wars licence fee that Lego has bought - hence the price rise in Star Wars sets.
Instead of panels on the new Death Star I could see it “splitting” in half or in quarters and opening up in the same way / idea as the mos eisley cantina. That way we get a really good looking exterior and still have various scenes on the inside
What if the UCS Slave 1 is the same size as the 2015 version, but cost more because it has all the pieces to do a colour swap between Jango’s & Boba’s versions? I doubt that’ll be the case, and would be annoying that it costs so much because of it, but it could potentially be a pretty cool idea
To add to this, maybe Lego wanted to do Jango’s Slave 1, but it may not sell enough as more people may prefer Boba’s one. So this way, Lego get to do both at once, people can pick which one they build (esp good for those with the 2015 one). And some people may even buy 2 to have both
People put such a big emphasis on building the sets yourself because that's a large portion of the appeal of Lego. The three appeals of Lego: 1) You build it 2) Display or play after it's built 3) the ability to take apart and make something new or modify it to your liking. If you literally only care about the display-ability and accuracy factor, which for some reason an overwhelming majority of the Online SW Lego community seems to, then you're in the wrong hobby. Lego will always be in the back of the pack when it comes to looking like and having exact details true to the source material. Many Lego fans seem to not want to modify or reuse their sets into parts, which is fine, but then you can't complain that it's missing details or is not true to the scale or detail of the source material. It's physically impossible and minifgures are not human proportioned so neither will their surroundings be. It's a bridge less divide in this fandom. It's just not what the thing is or can be made for. Now for the, we're paying premium prices, we serve premium detail and quality. Yes I agree, but there can literally physically be any so much detail in the medium. If you want detail and accuracy: figures, model kits, artwork, digital skins or artwork, literally anything else is where you ought to be looking. There is a bit of the Funko pop factor when it comes to Lego as a medium. For you as a reviewer in particular, I would just encourage people who actually care about a review that addresses how the set was to build or the building experience, to look elsewhere. MandR is just not the channel for that type of thing. He prioritizes display and accuracy over everything else(as does his community). Which again is fine, different priorities. I just think some people would be happier changing hobbys or trying out different mediums if display accuracy is what your looking for. And it turns out, you'll sometimes get a better value for your dollar while getting better display in some cases too.
I've wondered the same thing: if you don't care about building or modifying but mainly/only care about accuracy or realism, why on earth would you buy Lego, which will always necessarily be abstract and cartoony and toylike? It seems like perhaps the worst choice of product/hobby in that instance. Build scale models, collect action figures/figurines/statues, etc. Those would make much more sense.
@SO-ym3zs And then the two crossover, I have never really understood On Card action figure collectors, like I personally don't like my display to.look like an isle in a toy store, but at least there's the plastic bubble so you can appreciate the sculpt and paint of a figure. So Sealed in Box Lego to me is just insane. Like one nostalgic or favorite set I guess but having an entire sealed collection is just wealth hoarding for the sake of it. It is not different than printing out a JPEG or NFT type thing but least with Lego you could technically resell so it's not ridiculous. But anyway this is just a side point. My comment is the main point.
@@MossyRiverRock Collecting and keeping sealed Lego sets for any reason other than to resell it is downright weird and defeats the very purpose of Lego, which is to build. That would be like buying a piece of art and putting it in a box in the attic where no one can see it.
