They need to open up Hawaiian-style restaurants in other parts of the world. And not just Hawaiian themes and decorations, but the real food.
For real took a trip to oahu with bae and man the spicy garlic shrimps, garlic soy chicken, loco moco, mac salad, some of the best plain white rice I've had and the vibez , they really need an authentic hawaiian restaurant here in nyc. Obviously it won't be the same but I miss that place

I have watched the first one (from two years ago), more than once, because he enjoys it so much. There is another buffet in Las Vegas that he tried, and there he ate a lot of steak and lobster, I think. I've never tasted taro. I would think it is an acquired taste, but it looks interesting and is colorful.

Wow! I noticed that when he first tried it by itself, it was a bit off for him, but then he paired it with some other food and then it made sense to him and realized the complement it brought to the meal.
When I was little we lived on Oahu because my dad was in the military. My favorite thing that I remember from the North Shore was a shaved ice place with icecream on the bottom. So good!
Also my school cafeteria served us kalua pork for lunches and I will never forget it!
It is so good.
Yes! We are a military family living in Hawaii and they still serve pork in my kids school.
My daughter-in-law I recently visited a while who stayed in Waikiki Beach. And late October. We had one of the best times ever!🙏🏽🌅🌺🌴🍍. Watching your video helped us so much in terms of finding some special food places, such as Ted’s bakery on the North Shore. And yes we did get the spicy shrimp and the short rib plate. And the coconut pie oh my goodness. I wish I had ordered and the second order of the shrimp they were everything you said they were! I try to tell the people there that I watched your video but I couldn’t remember what your name was called. But they were happy to hear that people are giving them shout out . I want to Leonards bakery twice and I had the malice out as well my goodness right before I left for the airport to come home to Orlando Florida. This meant so much to me because I am a 3 1/2 year breast cancer survivor. My daughter brought me to Hawaii as a birthday present💫🙏🏽🌅💗. It’s been really tough these last five years, but I’m still here and I’m so grateful and thankful. We have the time of my life. I want to plug my trip or talk about my trip on TH-cam because it meant so much to me and maybe it’ll mean something to someone else. Anyway simply dumpling thank you so much and Mahalo Nui Loa 🙏🏽🍍🌴🌺

The best part of any trip to Hawai'i is all the local foods. My advice is don't stick to the typical touristy stuff, be adventurous and the ask locals for their favorites. It's well worth the effor, you'll get great recommendations and find some local food establishments that are true gems in their own right, and definitely worthy of your vacation dollar.

Born and raised here over 60 years. Giovanni's Shrimp Truck was the original. Whatever the other trucks try to claim. I ate at Giovanni's in college all the time and they were the ONLY shrimp truck, so I know. Giovanni sold the truck many years ago but the name was retained. Look for the white truck that everyone is free to sign. They now have a great outdoor shelter so no more eating with toes in the sand but it's nice when it rains to eat under shade. They are still the best. Ted's crust is meh but the filling is worth the price.
Giovanni's truck is at the intersection of Kamehameha Hwy and Paalaa Rd in Haleiwa. Just went there last week!

@Bill Cosbyyeah, a tour guide who has their own TH-cam channel (Daniel Tours) told me that Giovanni's buy their shrimp from Costco...wonder if because of the volume of meals they have to serve...yeah, there are others there in Kahuku that have their own shrimp ponds right nearby like Romy's...
@Silver Chopsticks Born and raised here. Giovanis definetly don't use kahuku shrimp. They good though, no matter when you use that much garlic? It sweats out your pores for a couple days. Funky enough to keep the vamipres away and me when my gf eats it... I'm pretty sure ted's don't use kahuku shrimp either. Pill Cosby may be a transplant, but knows more than you my braddah. Lol. You born and raised and don't know? Membah when Fumis had a tank full of live shrimp and prawns? Then when that was pau they sold em by the pound in ziplocks but not for a while now? Nah, you don't know brah.
It's all about Kauai shrimp these days. That's the quality kahuku shrimp USED to have...
I've eaten most of the foods in this video..... and I still enjoy watching HIM eating them more. Those reactions of satisfaction take you with him!

Next time you gotta try Leonard's malasadas, cream puffs from Liliha Bakery and some pork adobo fried rice at various locations. Was hoping you checked out some good chinese food also, I need a better place then where I go now.

I'm so glad you went to Ted's! I'm allergic to macadamia nuts now, but when we went about 10 years ago I remember getting a crab and bacon sandwich with a slice of macadamia nut cream pie and it was one of the best food adventures of my life! Glad you enjoyed! 😊
So glad you got to the north shore. I lived there many years and its da best spot on Oahu IMO. There are dozens of eateries and delicacies all over the island that you didn't get to though. Two of my favorites are manapua, which is a variation of a chinese ham bao but on Oahu it has dozens of variants & is larger. And the local soy sauce, Aloha Shoyu, is something I crave now that I can't get it in California.
The overcooked egg hurts my soul. Loco moco has to have runny egg yolks.
I'd prefer my egg that way 🤔

Loved this 4 day series, Mike. Wish you could have stayed longer and maybe have done a local Chinatown tour, an upscale metro foodie tour (like the Halekulani or Sarento's) but even though it was a quick tour, you did us proud!

Towards the end of this video, when u had that variety bbq plate, that's identical to a Hawaiian hole in the wall close to us. Only thing missing is the shrimp.
