  • This week I get to have a little fun.
    Fact is, the “Special” in “Special Ops” is not about how much cool gear you have, or how many cool schools you get to go to. It is about mastering the basics. That includes the basic fundamentals of marksmanship.
    Combat Stance: Like you’re getting ready to fist-fight. Aren’t you fighting for your life?
    Strong-Hand Grip: Hold it high on the back strap.
    Support-Hand Grip: Lock your wrists, raise your strong-hand thumb and try to cover as much of the pistol grip with your support-hand as possible.
    Thumbs: Ensure you stack them properly (strong-hand thumb on top). We are not shooting a revolver.
    Both Eyes Open: This is combat shooting. So, practice what your body is going to do instinctively.
    Proper Sight Alignment: Both front and rear sight blade must be aligned; equal light & equal height.
    Breath: This is combat shooting; not the olympics.
    Trigger Squeeze: Smoothly roll through that trigger. Don’t slap it.
    Follow Through: “Did I hit? Did I get Desired Effect? Are there more threats?
    Master these basic fundamentals of marksmanship and you’ll make yourself a better shooter. They apply to all weapon systems.
    Help support Tactical Rifleman by purchasing one of our T-shirts, check them out at: ballisticink.com/collections/...
    Thanks for watching. Strength & Honor, TR.

    Carl (SGM), I am interested in taking some refresher training in both pistol and rifle close quarter shooting. Perhaps more advanced training after that. I live in North Jersey near New York City. I looked for a class schedule but couldn't find one. I enjoy driving so going down to Kentucky or any other relatively close State in Dixie is no problem. The time frame I am anticipating is this coming autumn, winter or spring. I own a Ruger Military and Police AR, as well as an M9A1. I trust that they would be suitable firearms. If you have a class schedule, please send me one. Also a list of required gear for the training. Thank you very much. De Oppresso Liber Tom Nugent (LTC-R)

I was shooting a sig p320 with the sig lite sights should I focus on the front sight post? Target focus? Do I need to hold higher for shooting back at 25 m? Or is it most likely a fundamentals problem ie breathing, grip, trigger squeeze? Please advise, thanks

    Question to this video presentator: what is the first think to know as a civilian when picking up the firearm from a wounded policeman or military person in order to defend oneself againts one or more armed enemies? I mean, if you had to defend yourself while being pinned down by enemy fire and someone hands you a pistol or rifle.

    • @TacticalRifleman
      @TacticalRifleman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need to know how to operate every type of weapon that you might find on the battlefield. A SIG226 operates different from a 1911, which operates different from an 870 shotgun. Load/Fire/reload/malfunctions/unload; you must master all these skills for all weapons. It’s not as hard as it sounds, but not something that you want to try to figure out at the moment of truth. Thanks for watching, TR

      Writers like myself love to hear those types of stories, but often veterans never want to discuss them. It's funny because so many of us guys want to live vicariously through a badass soldier, but the badass soldier often just wants to forget the ghosts of their past.

    • @VictoryOrValhalla14
      @VictoryOrValhalla14 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      /// //// we often share stories with each other, it's mostly funny things that happen. Not to sound like an asshole but I'm just speaking for me and only me, it's very hard for me to talk to normal people. I don't have much in common with them except if we chat about guns. So normally I keep to myself.

    • @user-pv9pv4xf9c
      @user-pv9pv4xf9c 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally understand that. 95 percent of people will say stupid shit, like, "Why didn't the cop disarm his knife?" or, "Why didn't the cop just shoot him in the leg?" or, "If anyone breaks into my home, I'll just rack my shotgun and he'll run away."
      Most people, 50 percent plus 3 mil for the US, are totally out of touch with reality; and the rest of the misconceptions are mainly due to Hollywood.
      So I can see how it'd be annoying to open up and share deep personal stories with random people.

    • @TacticalRifleman
      @TacticalRifleman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Started with 1911, then M9, then went back to 1911. Then, we were given G-19s, and we fell in love with this word called Reliability. Later, my unit was issued a modified tan G-23 .40 cal, with threaded Barrel and raised Suppressor Sights. That’s when I retired. Now, they have been given the new Army SIG. Cool part is that A-teams still have access to all those other part pistols. Carry pretty much what you want, within reason.

    Tactical Rifleman I am asking purely out of curiosity and not intending any negativity when I ask this. I'm merely an untrained civilian who sometimes takes the target out to the 25m line.
    How often would secondary weapons see usage out to ranges to 50m for actual effective fire? I imagine if something went wrong and you're making a tactical retreat and are also low on primary ammo, you'll fire off rounds into a general area for supression?

    I have trouble going out to farther than 15 yards or so. Within 15 yards, I'm pretty accurate (not super tight groupings, but I can hit roughly head-sized groupings), but past 15 yards...totally hit or miss. At 25-50 yards I have trouble even putting rounds on a body sized target. Any tips for shooting at distance?

    • @Enumaris88
      @Enumaris88 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan K. Thanks for the tip, will slow down. I think the difficulty arises from two aspects when I go long distance. 1. I start to lose the sight picture because the target is getting to be roughly the size of my front sight, not sure where to put the sights. 2. I can't help but anticipate recoil so I shoot down and to the left. Any tips for this?

    • @emburgess7186
      @emburgess7186 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Enumaris88 Have you considered a red dot with say a 3 moa dot? I can hold on a head size plate at 100 yards an the dot only covers 3 inches. I for one love it. making 200 yard shots center of mass is even doable with a red dot.

    • @Enumaris88
      @Enumaris88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I have considered a red dot sight. It's a bit pricey though, especially with the extra effort I'd have to go through to mount it. I was thinking of getting the glock MOS to make mounting easier, but it's only on the gen 4 glocks, and those are all banned (from sale) here in Cali haha.
      I know that long distance shooting can be done accurately even with iron sights though. I see hickock hit his 200 yd gong all the time with iron sights. Saw Travis Haley hit 300 yd metal target with a 1911 too. I know that my gun is a lot more accurate than I am. I want to train to be more accurate with what I got before I shell out so much money on a red dot.
      Thanks for the tip though!

    • @emburgess7186
      @emburgess7186 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Enumaris88 Wow is the gen4 glock mos really banned in California? How stupid is that. I have the 19 mos an have a cheaper fast fire 3 on it. I shot my first competition ever an got 2nd place which says a lot for the site. But yes you can do a lot with iron sites. Maybe experiment with different iron sites that really pop for you or different height from site that allows you to have a six o'clock hold so site doesn't block out target?

    not very informative. how about instructions on the trigger finger proper placement of finger on trigger. stance footwork shoulders head etc. it just seems like a this video was showing us your skills but not teaching them. please do an instructional video. Looking forward to seeing one ! thanks for all your efforts.

      Sorry I didn't get deep enough for you. If you dig back through our video list, you'll find many videos on pistol shooting. This one was meant to be just for a little fun.

      Tactical Rifleman , I apologize i had no clue. I will definitely look back at those videos. Again thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I'm newer to your channel but I have already applied some of these tactics to my professional career and it has come in handy. I don't have anywhere near the experience you have, but i genuinely look forward to learning more from your videos. Thank you again and God bless.

      Thanks for the kind words. Our goal is to have a proffesional TH-cam Channel where experienced guys can share info. As it is not a "Entertainment" channel, with lots of crazy shooting crap,we will never get millions of viewers. That said, please help us spread the word. TR.
