No separation anxiety issues at all. When I am not home, which is very rare because I work with my pack and work at home for a living. But I do of course leave my home sometimes. When that happens, he goes inside an extra-large dog crate. The kind you could fit an entire family in. He's comfortable in there. Dogs are den animals, of course, that is why you can crate them. But I have found that wolves and wolfdogs are even more comfortable in them. Which makes sense. He just sleeps and never is anxious when I return. Very calm. Then he goes back out into his enclosure. A lot of this has to do with how he was raised though and all the time I spent with him. His brother (same litter) is not like this. He is very anxious to the point where Six Flags was unable to use him for their intention of interacting with the public. If you go to www.restarea1mile.com/camelsandfriends/lorne.html -- There is a video there of his brother Wyatt appearing on a news program. You can see how anxious he is. I was told by his trainers he is like that all the time and they asked for advice and what I did different with Lorne. So you may end up with a wolf/dog like that. I don't know where they went wrong, but at a certain age it is going to be very hard to fix.
camelsandfriends I have a half Dingo and so similar :) Absolute madhouse when I am around to "impress" but when I leave the house she is very content being alone and just rests in my room. Seems their Wild Genes do come into play :) What your Wolf would have in friendly agression my Dingo doggy is more "digging up omnivorous roots and trying to leap up and catch birds/bats to eat". Weird kinda omnivorous behaviour from the Dingo blood.
"mine" "mine" "this is mine" "definitely mine" "oh i like this, it's mine" "you weren't using this were you? whoops, now it's mine" "mine, mine, mine" "miiiiiiine"
oh my dear lord he's just like "this is mine this is also mine and this is mine too, I know you hid the treats somewhere" and the other dog is just like "I will follow everywhere" both are very beautiful.
"This is mine, this is also mine, and this... okay, all of THIS over HERE is mine and all of that nothing over there is yours. No! Don't come near it! But hey, cool glove right? IT'S MINE, TOO! All of this up on the shelves is mine, all of it!"
+MultiUnreal Wolves (we had one for 21 years) follow the toddler's creed. "If I want it, it's mine. If I give it to you and change my mind later, it's mine. If I can take it away from you, it's mine. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine. If it's mine it will never belong to anyone else no matter what. If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine. If it looks like mine, it's mine."
NecroMelodia It was younger wolves that came to those edges where the discarded (later purposefully offered) was - gender doesn’t enter into it for those earliest wolves, per various documentaries
Trisha C+ He's actually pretty lazy. Wolves in the wild sleep a lot, too. They conserve their energy to be used in small bouts and spend a lot of time resting. But when he's awake, he's extremely intense. More than you can imagine with any dog- even working breeds.
numaTruehome 100 Yes there was a strict screening process. The pups only go to educational facilities, zoos, and ambassador programs. Not for pets. You can read more about Lorne on his web page here, his story, how I got him, etc. www.restarea1mile.com/camelsandfriends/lorne.html
this how i feel abt every video that discourages wolf hybrids lmfao. like youre not swaying me at all, the moment i have the time space and money im getting mega pupper
If you're a wolf/wolfdog owner, they probably won't. In order for you to own such an animal you need to prove them that you are in charge, aka you are the alpha of the "pack". Which means when something bad happens they'll hide and expect you, the leader, to deal with it.
Alex A But other wolves in the pack will help. Such as a deer getting mauled by more than one wolf. Yes you’re the alpha but that doesn’t necessarily mean your wolf won’t help you
wolves don't work so well as guard animals as a normal guard dog for the reasons Alex A. mentioned above they likely won't be so territorial as a dog. I've known a couple wolf dogs and they were very aggressive if you approached them personally but did not give a shit about people walking on their owner's property.
Alex A to further your point I hope people realize that if you have a wolf you better know how to assert dominance thoroughly or the wolf may attack you trying to assert it's own dominance....they are way more aggressive this way than domesticated dogs and have been known to kill their owners if the owners don't know this
Yes. And if you do still want to live with a wolf or wolfdog-- make sure you understand what you are getting into. If you do and that doesn't bother you, you could be among a small amount of people that can live happily with one. But odds are you are not. This wolf here I raised from six weeks old. We have a very strong bond. When he was three years old he attacked me and I think would have killed me had I not reacted properly. He was redirecting aggression onto me after being stung by fire ants. Not something I could control too much. But think about it. A domesticated dog isn't likely to do that to you and wouldn't be able to kill you as fast as a wolf can. But a predator acts on instinct and he jumped me the second he was in pain. I have it on video if you look at his channel playlist. Something to watch before ever considering getting a wolf or wolfdog. I do not regret it, but I am a typical dog owner. I work with wild animals.
He's never been destructive. He just loves to move things around, get into things, be curious. But he has never torn anything apart, chewed on anything or otherwise caused damage in that way. Or really at all. He has a lot of enrichment and things to do, so it keeps him mentally active. Any animal that is destroying a structure or furniture has lack of stimulation and has developed mental problems. It is not normal for a wolf, a dog or any animal to be focusing their energy on tearing up a couch...
He's so rambunctious, and at the same time, so surprisingly well-behaved. Lorne gets into everything, but it's amazing how little he tears to shreds (I'm guessing the books don't last long).
I was blessed for a little over 20 years to have a wolf hybrid. I raised him from a pup and he loved to play, he was docile, full of love and wouldn't harm a fly. He never showed aggression at anyone. He was also black with white on the chest on paws.
Wait he lived 20 years?! That's very long. My family has had 3 wolfdogs, but they were pretty crazy

There is a young female wolf hybrid at our dog park that has a complete crush for my older dog. Every time without fail she makes a beeline for him and the pestering never stops. So cute you want to punch something.
wolves are only dangerous in packs. wolves on their own tend to be kinda lazy unless they are defending something they deem is theirs (like food or territory)
For people that keep asking if wolf dogs are dangerous, yes. But not just wolf dogs. Any pet you have can be dangerous. A wolf dog may never bite anything but a toy in his/her life. Whereas a Chihuahua could bite your ankle. Wolf dogs have very watered down genetics. A wolf dog usually only has about 23% wolf in them but 77% husky or whatever else, the rest is domesticated dog meaning they are much safer than wolves. Wolf dogs are much more tame than a regular wolf. But they are still very messy, and do have natural instincts in them. Don't ever physically punish them or abuse them verbally or physically in any way that makes them feel threatened. Be gentle with them and you'll be fine.
Hello. I've had 2 German shepherds they were great companions... 1 short hair and the other long haired German Shepherd. The long hair was younger and when the old Shepherd passed, the long haired mourned the loss a very long time .... I like your videos and insight to the wolf dogs. TY.
I have three now all females one 23 percent one 41 percent and one 26 percent all terrific dogs. Had four other females also terrific all lived to be 12 and 13 years two were 65 percent and one 22 percent
Well calupohs are well known in mexico to be super gentle and loyal. Dont remember last time my uncle got bitten by his dogs. He has been breeding calupohs for 37 years.
+HarderUploadz The wolfdog would actually jump out a 3 story building to get away from and intruder however I am quite sure that the burglar would die from a heartatack.
I had a purebred silver timber wolf 4 15 years & without any training he was so intelligent that he was easily the most well behaved animal I've ever owned. He was so wonderful that I just can't own any other pets after him; he single-handedly raised the bar so high that no 1 pet I would ever have could ever be able 2 meet the standard he met. I miss him every day. 😢
I can imagine him having a really deep, majestic, yet excited voice if he was able to talk. Saying, "I LOVE this window, I love this couch, I love this rug! I shall engage in a wrestle with this slightly smaller than me yellowish brother of mine. Ah, yes, back to the rug."
thats the safest option. people that dont want one or think that they cant handle one should not get one for the own animals safety and well-being. too many neglected wolfdogs come into our sanctuary and its only the owners to blame.
@@crossed7971 What he means to say is don't "order" one or purchase pugs from breeders, because that will only encourage them to make more pugs. If you see one at the shelter by all means adopt the pug, but know you are also in for a long list of likely problems. The breed has so much wrong with it compared to other dogs with breathing, hips, jaws and eyes. Plenty of articles are out there about the genetic nightmare that is the modern pug.
I had a pug for 7 years. Pugs are the easiest dog to take care of. Once I got my german shepherd mix huge different. Higher energy level, more work, for food, higher intelligence, more toys, more training required but she can be train easily and extra. Wow! I suggest pug to everyone!
To those probably Wondering Wolfdog's or wolves aren't pets , but its really if you either treat them like the Dog side or wolf side It been a bit a problem for some folks who think they could handle them Which either try then abandon or Taken to a sanctuary (which are overflowing with them) If you think of getting one Be very very very very very Sure you know what you are getting yourself into Wolfdog's aren't monsters they're just a bit confused of what they are But With him I think he was a pup when you got him or am i wrong ?
I got him at 6 weeks old, yes. I have been attacked by him though. But-- it was not his fault. You just must be aware these are powerful animals. I explain the situation here: th-cam.com/video/WMPwPBwcJXw/w-d-xo.html&t
I raised one, 75% timber.... and this is the most Accurate post I've ever seen on them. They're indeed NOT Pets. ...b/c they're way too smart to "accept" a Pet role. They get bored easily. They may even learn how to open cabinets and doors. And if they just happen to have the inherent genetics to want to be the "Alpha" then you're really in for a Ton of problems. ...the friendliest way to describe them is a "Charity Adopt" for ppl who only have a part time job
What a playful and mischievous dog. I know this is just a snippet but he seems to have the energy of a working dog. He’d probably be really happy being given tasks or jobs to do
I just wanted to say that your animals are all beautiful and are clearly very well cared for. also to those who don't scroll through comments, the blond dog isn't skinny or malnourished that us simply the free of dog it is, so you guys saying that the dog isn't being cared for is as dumb as complaining about a hairless cat not having fur.... exactly it's dumb so stop jumping to conclusions.
Sakura Senpai I have only had problems with them tearing up my couch as puppys. Now the legs of tables being chewed on. One knocking my china cabinet down and breaking it. Knocking everything down in site and pulling stuff off of stuff. Yes all the time.
Update: This person got tired of Lorne and got rid of him because he was "Too aggresive" and gave him to a sanctuary, effectively abandoning him after living with him for YEARS. Then they almost immediately took in another wolfdog with a biting problem and i'm pretty sure they're gonna end up getting rid of them too. I'm genuinely disappointed in this person and I feel terribly sorry for any wolfdogs that come their way.
What percent of wolf is he? I have a high content wolf bout 85%^. One thing I love about him he never barks just howls when we are gone. Had him for almost a year and we started to use a training collar and it has had amazing results.
No shit sherlock you cant train a wolf like a domestic dog. Training collars are not cruel and are very effective if used properly as a deterrent to train negative or unsafe behavior out of him with effective results.
He is not a 'black husky'. Check out this guide, it is very informative and can help you tell the different between a domesticated dog and a wolf. It's a pretty neat guide: facebook.com/camelsandfriends
+Dragonetta There was a comment once of somebody saying "That's just a black husky!" or something like that, but the one who left it deleted it shortly after. It really was stupid.
+Dragonetta From what I gather from TH-cam, a lot of people may be getting eaten by Black Huskies or German Shepherds at least once in their life. When people meet Lorne in person- I have never heard that once. They know. Is it TH-cam? Is it seeing him in person? I'll never know.
+Benjamin Riggs Wolves and dogs cannot be hybrids- they are too closely related to hybridize. You must not have proper experience about wolves are wolfdogs to be able to tell the difference, but that is okay. It is not normally common knowledge. You probably do not also realize that he is still a puppy in this a video and that wolves take a long time to mature. And you probably do not realize the variation in genetics between wolves all around the world, depending upon climate mostly. There is 0% Husky in the animal in this video. There is no real Nordic features period- even if you want to say he is a 'hybrid' with a Husky.
+Benjamin Riggs Mexican Red Wolves are critically endangered. A 2007 survey of them only found a few hundred left in the entire world. There is absolutely no way that is possible or else if you found one as a pup in the wild, you should have turned him over to a conservation project. That is a real shame. I don't know if they'll ever be able to recover because the gene pool is too narrow. Lorne is not a Mexican Red Wolf, he is an entirely different sub-species of the Gray Wolf. Which are very very different. He was bed at a zoo focusing on conservation to go to other programs for educational animals. I really hope that if you had a Red Wolf, you were involved in a breeding program and working with the efforts to restore their numbers. They are going to be extinct in our lifetime. It's very sad.
I can appreciate a wild animal but clearly this wolf dog doesn’t belong in the house. He’s restless and just destroying everything. He needs to be outside where he can run and let out his energy.
Excuse my intrution, this did isn't destructive. Its playing n being active. So many items were there it never chewed or torn anything. Did you see that leather sofa? Not a scratch on them. Its given enough EXCERSIZEgiven it's really happy.
I keep a wolf dog in the house and he will chew shoes if given a chance my tiny mixed breed mutt is way more destructive. He is a their and will steal all kinds of things and hide them in his den ( An extra large kennel covered in sheets in his own bedroom).
Lorne seems to be a kleptomaniac AND a hoarder! I wouldn't be surprised if you come home one day and find your beanbag strewn about the whole house!! Upon returning home from dinner our Doberman did just that! Me and my boyfriend froze (seeing the carnedge) looked each other and laughed SO hard I couldn't breathe! (wish I had a picture) it took days and days and days to clean it up, beanbag 'guts' EVERYWHERE!!!! woof
You got a wolfdog abut your house is set up in a frilly way. My house is very minimalistic. All the furniture is leather (older not $3000 new stuff) and my two German Shepherds have full reign of the place. Nothing is off limits. Couches, chairs, kitchen - even the basement. At the same time, nothing is set up to fail. Pictures on the wall are waist high or higher. Built in dining room cabinet is real wood drawers and glass doors are above waist height. My place is SO DOG FRIENDLY that I command bot dogs to sit in the kitchen, next to the fridge and clearly out of sight of the other rooms. I then hide about 1/4 lb of pepperoni slices ALL OVER THE HOUSE. Window sills (up high!), under chairs, on the built in, between cushions, in my bedroom etc... Once im done, I give the release command and watch them hunt. Ever see a GS push a couch to get to a treat? It's pure hunting instincts. This pays off in spades - When I walk them off leash, they follow commands with military precision because they KNOW that I balance it off with fun time!
Raylan Givens I am so glad to hear this. There are so many people who are in awe of how “well-trained” my dogs are, but u nailed it: they are well-LOVED and everything else follows.
Wolves are just giant german shephards. They're not deadly and vicious (most of the time) and they often get scared of people in the wild. They're beautiful creatures
boogiechillen123 So will dogs. In fact, dogs kill people a lot more than wolves do. Where I live, only two people have died because of wolves in 200 years... and both times, the wolves were bottle-raised. Wild wolves kill people so rarely you might just as well be afraid of unicorns goring you, or land-sharks falling from the skies.
Spicky Clean Wolves are not the fierce monsters they make them out to be, but it would be careless to casually approach one and expect to let itself be petted.
Heyy Hoyy It's clearly not just a dog. It's got wolfs low hanging tail and it's eyes are close to each other like wolfs. Not a wolf, not a dog, but a wolfdog. It's acting like a wolf too.
My wolf: you see that expensive shit right there? Yeah imma break that Me: why would you do that My wolf: idk i just don't like that thing Me: that doesn't make any sen- My wolf :*yeets himself at whatever he wants to destroy* This wolf: moves around normally and doesn't destroy anything Where did i go wrong lmao
Nothing necessarily wrong. He just has a playful personality. I have two German Shepherds and one of them is very laid back. I usually find him relaxing on my couch. The other? ....Pretty much that.
I believe he is a pure wolf, however. Unsure of the white patch of fur on his chest. I have never worked with a pure wolf, only wolf hybrids, coyote hybrids and a coyote wolf hybrid. The coywolf has a white patch on his chest. So he may have a great grandpa who was a dog. :) Beautiful creatures, they are. Perfect animals.
+Nissalius Chrystalis I live in Montana I see wolves all the time I do believe this is part wolf and part German Shepherd Maybe.. He is not built as big as a wolf wolves are very muscular and thick
Mine don't get on the sofa, because I am alpha and it's my sofa. They have their own arm chairs in another room, they are still part of the family but know where their place is and never step out of line because after all is said and done, they are animals and people need to remember that.
Dogs aren't pack animals and wolves don't ''enforce their place as alpha'', they act as parents, because that's all an ''alpha'' is. Alphas don't move others to lay where they are, they let the others eat first in times of scarcity, they usually walk at the back of the pack, and they don't usually pin or fight others within the pack. A wolf pack is made of a breeding pair and typically 3 years of offspring in the wild. Unless you're their offspring congrats, you pretty much are ''alpha''. My pups sleep on the bed and get the the couch whenever they want and they are wonderful pets. Very friendly, terrific listeners, just all around awesome pets. Just as the original commenter said, they're family, not slaves. :)
Get cheap wooden furniture, or extremely durable thick woood stuff, expect scratching and bite marks, use an iron or steel closet for your clothes, or expect shredded clothes. Kitchen counter, steel prefferably, or don't mind a broken door here or there. Doors, either steel or cheap, cheap ones will need replacing. You may also trya and teach them not to do anything in a single room, then leave the rest of the rooms for 'play'. Put a big tall fence around your yard, so the wolf can go outside and not escape. If you want grass, you'll need a concrete pit that fits seemlessly beneath said yard fencing, drilled with holes to allow excess water release into the ground, then filled with earth to allow grass to grow. If your wolf escapes and eats the neighbour's chicken or so, it could be killed as part of process. The better the enclosure the better the love you show. Get visitors seperately, seperated in another room, so the wolf doesn't assume it's playtime on the visitor. If they come to visit the wolf, make sure to have a vid recording AND a written and signed contract that states they expressely forego any and all damage done to their persons or properties, but besides that make sure they don't have anything on them, beforhand, like phones that can be snatched, and destroyed. When raising a wolf from when it's young, make sure there's always food there, like chewwy kibble, and ofc meat once per day. They can eat dogfood for the always having food ready, make sure there's enough there for the whole day. When they are raised never havnig to wait for dinner and not worrying abot getting enough food, they won't get fat as a result. This must be maintained 24/7, because if they ever do go hungry, the foraging instinct develops, and that's that. If you have a dog already, it may take cue's from it, if raised in the same manner. If you have a cat before that, in some cases even potty training may be learned. Although don't expect the wolf to be as meticulous as the cat. But it'll make a big fat diffference if they use the outside for it. Also, don't expect anything that can fit between their teeth to have any long lifecycle, because if you do, you'll get dissappointed. But... If you can live with all that, and you want real floof and sweetness, well, a well treated wolf will be awesome, and will keep you warm at night, together with the cat and the dog. In nature they have to be fierce and almost unkind, because that's how they need to be. Given the choice, even wolves may become softer and tender. One more thing of note, expect hair to be everywhere, so if you like 'hairless' clothes, don't get a wolf. Try cleaning the house once per day as well, like vacuuming, prefferably with low noise vacuumcleaner. Some pets may never develop trust for the vacuumecleaner, whih in turn means that if you're not there, the vacuum cleaner may be as especially willing target for reprisal of the disturbbance in rest. Also, bathing, you can either start bathing them from when they're young, or brushing, but make sure to rinse well. Expect a wolf to cost you about $100-200 per month. For the dog a little less, and for the cat a little below $100. Make sure that you set up an account for that cash, and keep it there, each month, so that when the bills come due, you can pay them asap, even the vet's bills. Now, if that is hardship, don't get a wolf, get a hamster, which is much less costly, but still cute floof. They cost about $50 per month, in all, vet bills, inoculations, food. If you stick to this, you'll have awesome floof at the ready, if not, well, the consequences are yours, but keep in mind you chose it.
Although there's popular opinions on this, cooked meat is preffered, as it's more tasty, specially with a bit of gravy, but also, less chance for contagion. Try and give them well prepped meal on sundays, like actual cooking, and keep an eye on which stuff gets eaten first. That's the part they like most.
Expect them to behave like spoiled children a bit, when it comes to food, so if you wanna make them eat some vegetables, mix it in with the gravy, chopped. When you eat, make sure they have a turn at your plate as well, or simply share the prepped meal. Basically, they're family.
I myself eat vegetarian, mostly, which never caused problems. And pets love to snatch things from your plate, so, the combo meals with pieces of meat with them, well, I always seemed to leave the room for that to happen. I wonder why...
I have a 9 year old Male Alaskan Malamute/Timber Wolf . He is so laid back and such a gentleman. In the almost 2 years that he has been with me, not one bit of agression towards me. I honestly wouldn't trade him for anything.
Same I got a pit wolf mix, big ol softy, won't chew a thing, not even the chew toys I get him. He's happy but just nibbles on them and carries them around. Black with a white patch on his belly which makes him look like he got a tuxedo. Not only that but he loves to cross his legs when laying down
kennidee lee Agreed. I'm so sick and tired of people like that who say a dog is skinny because the hybrid takes there food. I have rescued hybrids and I have a wolf and a wolf hybrid that are mine. I also have 2 other dogs one is a gray hound and people always say it is skinny because the other steal her food. They don't steal her food. She is that way because of her breed. People who say that don't have a wolf or wolf hybrid. They just go by all those myths about them.
MizukiUkitake Then don't comment that. The way you said that above was very rude. Next of all yes dogs are pack animals. The alpha dose not take over the other dogs food. The alpha get the good stuff. The other gets the rest. Do research before commenting because if you did you would also know that. The wolf is feed separate. It is feed a raw meat diet (Heart, liver, leg, head extra) The other is ether feed three ways a different type of raw meat diet that adds veggies, canned food or dog food. Wolfs live of nothing but meat and can not serve on dog food. Dogs need meat, veggies and grain. So you would know if before commenting doing research or knowing. What you are talking about.
+Juliana Zoellner Lorne is very difficult to care for. They need extreme enclosures to keep them contained. They are highly intelligent and stronger than the average dog- meaning if you make a mistake you are probably not going to be able to fend him off. I'm going to be doing some videos soon that will cover what owning a wolf or wolfdog is actually like, but in the mean time, Lorne and I just had a discussion thread on Reddit. There is some very valuable information there you should look over and then decide if you still really want one. www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/3w7q7i/im_raising_a_wolf_as_an_animal_ambassador_he/?sort=top
Horse Games Club Lorne is a wolf. He was transferred to me from the Georgia Zoo's breeding program. They have a select number of pups every other year or so. These wolves go to educational facilities, ambassador programs, and zoos. They are not normally available to private owners. Lorne's litter-mate and brother can be seen on display in Six Flags, California. If you would like to learn more about wolves... www.restarea1mile.com/camelsandfriends/lorne.html
Mine got in the habit of running from house to house in our neighborhood, getting treats from everyone before returning home. Before the owners got to know who I was, I asked two separate neighbors, one was a trooper and the other coast guard, if the wolf dog was bugging them. They told me he is fine and to leave him alone, almost in a semi hostile way. No I replied, he is my baby, just want to make sure you don't have a problem with him running around, they both smiled and said he is a pleasure to have around. He was huge, people would joke that he was actually a small horse disguised as a dog. He spent many years with us, my kids grew up with him. Sadly he died of cancer last winter. Best pet and friend I ever had.
Just wondering, have you developed a close bond to Lorna? , like does she consider you apart of her "pack"?. I love to see how much you respect and love her, and appreciate how much knowledge you have about wolves, as well as the service you are doing by taking care of her and making her your animal ambassador. Also, how did you teach him dog commands like "sit"?.
Check out Lorne's playlist here. Including a 39 minute talk I give on Lorne and our relationship in general. If you still have any questions, please let me know. th-cam.com/play/PL7CQVvLqPwpqe4UTSvzWdTQmOG8eq6hy2.html
We adopted a dog that ended up being half wolf. He's the best puppers ever. He gets bored and tells me what he wants, whether it's to run outside and catch squirrels or play rough in bed.. we spend all day together since I work from home. He knows all the rules and makes sure everyone in the house follows them, from not eating off finished dinner plates to bed time. Our cats and other dog must follow all the rules or they get growled and chased. He gets physically angry if we don't go to bed at the right time. He just sits there and growls at me. He was house trained at 3 months... He's the perfect pup. And he's so gorgeous too. Had I known his wolf dna I probably wouldn't have adopted him, but I'm so glad we got him. He's perfect.
I had a wolf hybrid when I was a kid. She was very gentle and loving. She was also very protective of us. On several occasions she spotted cottonmouths in our garden when we picking beans. She always let us know
Does a wolfdog like your's get any separation anxiety? If so, what does he do when your gone?

Yes you’re the alpha but that doesn’t necessarily mean your wolf won’t help you
It works with usual dogs too it doesnt have to be a wolf
wolves don't work so well as guard animals as a normal guard dog for the reasons Alex A. mentioned above they likely won't be so territorial as a dog. I've known a couple wolf dogs and they were very aggressive if you approached them personally but did not give a shit about people walking on their owner's property.
Alex A to further your point I hope people realize that if you have a wolf you better know how to assert dominance thoroughly or the wolf may attack you trying to assert it's own dominance....they are way more aggressive this way than domesticated dogs and have been known to kill their owners if the owners don't know this
Please do not consider getting a wolfdog, people. Years of domesticating dogs have served an important purpose

Im sorry but I have one question: how are you keeping all your things intact, including that leather couch?
He's never been destructive. He just loves to move things around, get into things, be curious. But he has never torn anything apart, chewed on anything or otherwise caused damage in that way. Or really at all.
He has a lot of enrichment and things to do, so it keeps him mentally active. Any animal that is destroying a structure or furniture has lack of stimulation and has developed mental problems. It is not normal for a wolf, a dog or any animal to be focusing their energy on tearing up a couch...

Wait he lived 20 years?! That's very long. My family has had 3 wolfdogs, but they were pretty crazy

so wolves are like dogs but dangerous and with ADHD
realhumanbean Not always dangerous. Normally in the wild when they spot humans they will run away.
wolves are only dangerous in packs. wolves on their own tend to be kinda lazy unless they are defending something they deem is theirs (like food or territory)
Scott Pantera or childs
I thought all dogs have ADHD
Extremely intelligent as well.
TY.
The potential of harm is higher with a wolf dog though than it is with a chihuahua...

(wish I had a picture) it took days and days and days to clean it up, beanbag 'guts' EVERYWHERE!!!! woof
That growl is pretty frightening
He's a wolf and he doesn't live inside. He has an enclosure outside. Wolves aren't meant for indoor living.

If they're in a pack they'll kill a person no problem.
boogiechillen123 Yeah maybe if they are starving, but when they have the choice they'd much rather not pray on a humans.
boogiechillen123 So will dogs.

I always let my dog on my couch
Why?
Because theyre a part of my family not some slave
it's best to let them on after they know you're the alpha, otherwise they use to 'exercise' their power as alpha
Mine don't get on the sofa, because I am alpha and it's my sofa. They have their own arm chairs in another room, they are still part of the family but know where their place is and never step out of line because after all is said and done, they are animals and people need to remember that.
+Frankie H And you think you're what ? A mineral ?
+Byoboy33 yep 👍🏻

bite marks, use an iron or steel closet for your clothes, or expect shredded clothes.
Kitchen counter, steel prefferably, or don't mind a broken door here or there.
Doors, either steel or cheap, cheap ones will need replacing.
You may also trya and teach them not to do anything in a single room, then leave the
rest of the rooms for 'play'.
Put a big tall fence around your yard, so the wolf can go outside and not escape.
If you want grass, you'll need a concrete pit that fits seemlessly beneath said yard fencing,
drilled with holes to allow excess water release into the ground, then filled with earth
to allow grass to grow. If your wolf escapes and eats the neighbour's chicken or so,
it could be killed as part of process. The better the enclosure the better the love you show.
Get visitors seperately, seperated in another room, so the wolf doesn't assume
it's playtime on the visitor. If they come to visit the wolf, make sure to have a vid
recording AND a written and signed contract that states they expressely forego
any and all damage done to their persons or properties, but besides that make sure
they don't have anything on them, beforhand, like phones that can be snatched,
and destroyed.
When raising a wolf from when it's young, make sure there's always food there,
like chewwy kibble, and ofc meat once per day. They can eat dogfood for
the always having food ready, make sure there's enough there for the whole day.
When they are raised never havnig to wait for dinner and not worrying abot getting
enough food, they won't get fat as a result. This must be maintained 24/7,
because if they ever do go hungry, the foraging instinct develops, and that's that.
If you have a dog already, it may take cue's from it, if raised in the same manner.
If you have a cat before that, in some cases even potty training may be learned.
Although don't expect the wolf to be as meticulous as the cat.
But it'll make a big fat diffference if they use the outside for it.
Also, don't expect anything that can fit between their teeth to have any long
lifecycle, because if you do, you'll get dissappointed.
But...
If you can live with all that, and you want real floof and sweetness, well,
a well treated wolf will be awesome, and will keep you warm at night,
together with the cat and the dog.
In nature they have to be fierce and almost unkind, because that's how they need to be.
Given the choice, even wolves may become softer and tender.
One more thing of note, expect hair to be everywhere, so if you like
'hairless' clothes, don't get a wolf.
Try cleaning the house once per day as well, like vacuuming, prefferably
with low noise vacuumcleaner.
Some pets may never develop trust for the vacuumecleaner,
whih in turn means that if you're not there, the vacuum cleaner may be as
especially willing target for reprisal of the disturbbance in rest.
Also, bathing, you can either start bathing them from when they're young,
or brushing, but make sure to rinse well.
Expect a wolf to cost you about $100-200 per month. For the dog a little less,
and for the cat a little below $100. Make sure that you set up an account
for that cash, and keep it there, each month, so that when the
bills come due, you can pay them asap, even the vet's bills.
Now, if that is hardship, don't get a wolf, get a hamster,
which is much less costly, but still cute floof. They cost about $50 per month,
in all, vet bills, inoculations, food.
If you stick to this, you'll have awesome floof at the ready,
if not, well, the consequences are yours, but keep in mind you chose it.
Although there's popular opinions on this, cooked meat is preffered, as it's more tasty,
specially with a bit of gravy, but also, less chance for contagion.
Try and give them well prepped meal on sundays, like actual cooking,
and keep an eye on which stuff gets eaten first. That's the part they like most.
Expect them to behave like spoiled children a bit, when it comes to food,
so if you wanna make them eat some vegetables, mix it in with the gravy, chopped.
When you eat, make sure they have a turn at your plate as well, or simply share
the prepped meal.
Basically, they're family.
When you notice him/her being exceptionally floofeh, just grab hold
pull onto your lap, and let the awesome cuddling begin.
They can handle that.
I myself eat vegetarian, mostly, which never caused problems.
And pets love to snatch things from your plate, so, the combo meals
with pieces of meat with them, well, I always seemed to leave the room
for that to happen. I wonder why...
Never get a pet for any other reason than to love them and care for them,
then you'll always be pleasantly surprised by the little kindnesses they do.
My favorite part is when he opens and tries to flip through the photo album.
hes just a lil rascal XD i wanna hug him.
You can tell he's a wolf by the sounds he's making.
NOt really, He is a wolfdog. His markings and structure show dog traits.
Not only that but he loves to cross his legs when laying down
Phew! Thank Gosh, Shaggydog is still alive!!!! (Game of Thrones fans will understand that lol xD)
you just reminded me to watch last night's episode
oh my gosh i know :)
Lovella5 he died
Ramsey never caught him ! It was a fake obviously
your other dog looks like it hasnt ate in months
+MizukiUkitake It is because that is the breed of dog.
there not starving him its just the breed of dog he it is thin
kennidee lee Agreed.
Jaisa MCclain yes, they don't have the dog so they don't understand

Lorne is beautiful! I'm sure you probably have to make a lot of sacrifices, but you're so lucky to work with him.
I Like the Part when The Wolf Reads the Book^!!^
Does he demand space or mark his territory in the house he looks energetic ?
These Calupoh “wolfdogs” are very messy. Super energetic. They belong out at wide open spaces not locked up in a living room.
Right? You can see his spirit is wild.
It doesn't exist 'locked up in a living room' . Do some research before making unfounded comments.
Nick H “belonged” don’t make stupid responses without reading the comment first
Agreed
You should go checkout white water wolfdogs he has been training wolfdogs ( high contents and lows).
Bio hit home. My name is also Wyatt. I'm from Chicago and oh yeah, I'm obsessed with wolves. Good on ya for taking care of Lorne!
You should really get him a backyard, or some more space so he can run around. He seems really active.
Ashantii Blackbird he is kept on an enclosure outside it was said in a different comment chain
Oh ok that's good, thanks for telling me that
that is a BEAUTIFUL wolfdog/ whatever that beauty is. XD
+Juliana Zoellner Aw I'll tell him you said so.
okay. :)
but where did you get him, i've always wanted a wolfdog but i have never known where to get them.

Thank you so much! :)
+Juliana Zoellner this animal is violent D:
It's beautiful! A little destructive, but beautiful.
Heyy Hoyy then what type?
Horse Games Club Lorne is a wolf. He was transferred to me from the Georgia Zoo's breeding program. They have a select number of pups every other year or so. These wolves go to educational facilities, ambassador programs, and zoos. They are not normally available to private owners. Lorne's litter-mate and brother can be seen on display in Six Flags, California.

Those growls are terrifying. o_o
GalaxyTARDIS It's the dog that's growling not the wolfdog.
***** No it wasn't... The uploader even said so.
The funny thing is: I never said It was the wolf or the dog, I just commented on the growling. Either way it's fuckin' scary.
GalaxyTARDIS Ehh it's not scary really but I guess it is for you lol
TheGrayWolf81 Imagine a dog or wolf making THOSE sounds at you. You can't tell me you WOULDN'T run the other way.
wow I can see he will be a handful! !
he is going to tear your stuff apart, but he is beautiful
How many generations removed from the wolf is he? First?
Riachi For many Blue Bay Shepherds they are F1 breeds

Subscribed. Lorn is just too amazing!
That wolf is messing up everything - Ha
***** i love wolves so much
too bad the channel owner got exposed for animal abuse and negligence. hope this fellas doing alright now :(
Behold the fearsome wolf! Abuser of beanbags and chewer of things. So fierce and vicious! Only not.
What's his embark?
My dear, you have... ...The Grim!
But Professor trelawney I don't give a s***
I can't tell the difference I thought he was a domesticated dog lol has he been in the house since he was a baby?
No, he lives outside in an enclosure. I bring him in sometimes.
camelsandfriends I should have worded that differently I meant did you have him since he was a puppy
I got a wolf pet in real life
What's the story behind the name? Any relation to the famous wolf Lorne Malvo from Fargo? :P
Direct relation. :) That is who I named him after.
I had a wolf hybrid when I was a kid. She was very gentle and loving. She was also very protective of us. On several occasions she spotted cottonmouths in our garden when we picking beans. She always let us know
