I would love to see Mono jam with Jojo Mayer. MonoNeon actually covers the synth and the bass components of the jam, because he's usually appearing with Nerve which is bass/synth added to Jojo.
Hi Premier Guitar, could you do Rig Rundown on Jack White, Thundercat, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Josh Homme, Coldplay, Linkin Park, Wes Borland, Pale Waves, BeaBaDooBee, Lenny Kravitz, The Black Keys, TEKE TEKE, Crumb, Jamiroquai, L'impératrice & Jungle. Thank You Premier Guitar.
I got nothing but love, admiration and total respect for Dwayne aka MonoNeon. I'm grateful for his willingness to partake in the conversation knowing it wasn't the most comfortable thing, but I think his warm, glowing character shines through.
I’m so happy you got Mononeon to come on. Prince saw his talent. You can hear it in his music. He’s got some serious talent that hasn’t even bloomed yet.
I have watched every rig run down. But I have never clicked on one so fast. Thank you @premierguitar for featuring a bass player, and a solo bassist at that.
MonoNeon, Dwayne is very inspiring. Seems he just taps into creative intuition, and that's working for him. Good interview, I seem to remember you did a good interview with J Mascis a couple of years ago too. So you seem to be good at drawing out shy artists to talk about what they do. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words. I try to do my best of walking a line of being inviting and pulling information out of the guests but not get in the way or overtake them. Appreciate the kudos and support to PG's channel!
@@chris_kies Yes, that's how it comes across. Like your keeping yourself out of it. Except asking brief well targeted questions only when you want to stimulate a potentially interesting topic. It's a rarer skill than you'd think. And important, with shyer interview subjects. And plenty of stage-hardened instrumentalists pr soloists are surprisingly shy when it comes to speaking about their craft. I like Matt Sweeney's interviews on his Guitar Moves channels too.
I remember seeing his signature bass in my local guitar store a few years ago and it definitely shocked me (mainly because I had never seen a bass with that bright a finish before and also I had no idea who MonoNeon was at the time), but after hearing him play in this I'm definitely impressed with what he can do. Definitely funky as hell and it's awesome
I first saw him on the Zildjian live performance with Larnell Lewis. Amazing performance, and the drums were obviously the intended feature, but mononeon stole the show big time.
4:50 I'm actually right-handed but I play this left-handed -- WTF! There are left-handed guitarist which play right handed (like Mark Knopfler) and it's very interesting to have your main hand on the frets.
A PHENOMENAL MUSICIAN AND A GREAT-SOUNDING BASS!!! I'm not wild about the color scheme, but the bass's growl and punch are undeniable!!! MonoNeon is a cool and humble dude, too!!!
Someome has to say it. Dude is chill and has chops, but that stupid Whammy pedal sounds awful. In addition to the shifted notes sounding bad it also destroys his tone and makes his bass sound like a Goodwill synthesizer whenever he activates the pedal. Lol. If he's insistant on using a Whammy, he should at least get the one made for bass. Im almost positive theres a bass version and that he was using the default one made for guitar. Maybe thats why it sounds so bad, but i think it's the pedal in general. I get it. I own one too. Theyre fun to play with but theyre kind of a one trick pony and the sound gets old quick. I never found a practical use for it during gigs except for using it to make a guitar emulate a bass. And there are cheaper pedals if all you want is the octave down shift, so i sold my Whammy.
Can’t wait for your rig rundown so we can make our personal preferences known and rip apart your setup and approach when it doesn’t match up with our personal preferences

Great Rundown Chris aka Always Prepared, Kies!
You said it!
I’m so happy you got Mononeon to come on. Prince saw his talent. You can hear it in his music. He’s got some serious talent that hasn’t even bloomed yet.
He's really getting more comfortable during interviews and we are benefiting GREATLY!!!

Check out the Donny Benet Rig Rundown next!
That sounds exactly like your Sony Walkman when it starts to eat the cassette tape.
Looks like it too!! Sport version, FTW.
@@thepatzeroh my God too good man!
And then your tape would be like an accordion , geez so many memories ;)
Can't understand hear it now😂
RIGHT 😂😂😂😂😂
The fart pedal with the wet toggle switch...lol 😂😊 Legend...
Aaaaa Mono is coming out of his shell more and more. I feel like he's more comfy wearing a bass
His new band is super fun to watch. Great vibes.
One of the best doing it now. Mononeon is amazing.
The coolest character in the music industry...It is no wonder that the Prince found him!
Thundercat is pretty cool too now.
MonoNeon's basslines sound like an insane acid trip

yay! One of my ultimate music heros, thanks for doing it again, and such a cool interview!
My grandma used to make those quilts back in the 80s....good to see you turn old material into a jumpsuite....looks funkadelic...
@@crock2434 too funny I thought I was the only one that would say that!
When I saw this title, I shuddered in fear that John Bohlinger would be interviewing. Praise
What a great musician, what a great human being!

This man is from outer space
have we ever seen danny brown and mono neon in the same room????
I think your on to something.
Came here to say the same thing 😂😂
holy fucking shit
Great interview!
Seems like a cool guy
Yes!! Mono Neon getting the props he deserves, the hero we need x
love this guy's playing. superb!
Great rig rundown.
I want to hear more of what this man has to say about anything, be it music, art, family, or farts.
I don't know what dimension I've slipped into but it's wild
Prince’s last bass player from Memphis, Tennessee. Amazing. 💜
Wow, what a neat guy. He's really likeable.
Saw him at the Phish festival a couple weeks ago, hangin with Mike Gordon.
I discovered mono right after Prince had passed away. I knew he was gonna be huge. Ive NEVER heard anything like him.
You really can’t go wrong if you were inspired by an Albert King technique. That cat never played a bad note and that’s fact!!
Saw him on a Louis Cole video, damn what a groove.
Highly talented
I first saw him on the Zildjian live performance with Larnell Lewis. Amazing performance, and the drums were obviously the intended feature, but mononeon stole the show big time.
Hell yes! Thanks
Mono is the single reason I started playing bass again after putting it down for years after having my first kid. Great to see this.
His whole vibe is insane
More Power to you Mono Neon!!!👍🏾
Hell yeah. Mono rules
13:05 love that!
What a cool dude!
All those colors - I love it! 😄
Awesome ❤
Dwayne is amazing. Still amazes me that he plays upside down like that!
I started out doing that. Then I flipped it over and now I play a million times better.
I love him giving Frank Zappa a shout-out! 😍👍 :つ{■
Nice interview
I used to carry a security blanket and now I wear it

Just bought a fretless bass, Ibanez SRD905F ... Micro notes 🤘
Good 😊
Such an amazing and unique player. It actually didn't look like the bass was low B but low E to high C. Is that right?
He always seems like he's fighting the instrument a little bit.
Class act!
That dude doesn't have sweat glands! Either that or there's a "rainforest type" ecosystem under his outfit :D

Eccentric genius
Kurt Cobain was right handed but played left-handed as well
You guys should do king gizzard
Stay tuned next month ;)
If ANYONE was gonna have the fart pedal in a set up, its MONO NEON!
Add more bass players to the channel
Yeah i don't know.
MonoNeon 💛🧡
He got that hat from mawmaw lol, he is def diff. Its cool tho
I love when musicians say I don't know, I just do it.....

😂 I thought he was one of those artists that didn't interview or talk on camera.
If you see older interviews of him, you can see he doesn't feel comfortable in front of the camera at all.
He prefers to blend into the background 😅
I think this guy's name might be "MonoNeon".
He have a fart pedal is lol
Wow this dude looks cool, I always liked Mr. T, David Lee Roth, Macho Man and Bootsy Collins, people who dress freaky and different
Anything for attention
shit
This Guy looks more like a Marketing Gag.
Allow more fun into your mind
there’s an interview where he talks about how quilts are made with more love than other clothes
He’s an artist. Sadly, something many musicians don’t even understand…

one person’s “destroyed” tone is another person’s tone with “character”

Clown playing crappy Bass !
We don't need updates on your day to day.
lOVE THAT BASS`! i PLAY IT EVERYDAY :)
Very ,very talented dude.
Theres nothing new about using a wah pedal.
Its a whammy turdling
