i know different cars and setups are part of racing, and i dont want to say anything against it, but sometimes its refreshing with fixed setups to not wonder how mutch difference a car or a setup makes and to just know thats a skill diff
I really enjoy tweaking setups to my driving style. (I think half the time I make things worse, but still like to play about with things, 😂) Having said that, I do agree that i enjoy jumping into a fixed race. It is great to see where you stand with no excuse of thinking someone's faster due to a custom setup. Inevitably, the fast guys are still way faster. 😢
If you can cut seconds from your laptime and have a huge advantage compared to your rivals just from your tune/setup, that's more of the game's fault if anything. In real life, setups are done so the car can suit the driver's preferences or driving techniques. Imagine if they do fixed setups in real life and a couple of drivers who were successful before stopped winning due to the fixed setup. Would you call them unskilled? No, that would be stupid. In video games, I guess it's understandable. I don't get how people get so much speed just from setups alone.
@@johncarl5505 Take nearly any setting and mangle it, put your wheel camber the wrong way or anything then try race the car with 1 setting off and you will get how it happens. Once you see how taxing one off setting can be for your performance then you will understand how a good setup can give you time.
I've not seen anything so far that justifies the hype around this sim. It looks and sounds ok, but it's nothing amazing or particularly different. It's getting a lot of love for something that is still in development, but interested to see how it progresses, and it is good to see the process in action as they work on it.
Best graphics in any sim right now, solid physics and driving experience already in beta, bug free online racing experience without netcodes and stuff, promised to make it an online ranked competitive game, major car brands involved with sponsorships for tournaments, support for the modder community... and the list goes on.
This game uses UE5 so if we can get some Nanite technology for the background environment it might be one of the best racing sims if they can just get the physics worked out good enough.
Man, its been a hot summer and I've been away from sim stuff. Glad to come back to the sim world with lots of Dave Cam quality content waiting for me 😅 This title is looking really great, if they manage to balance the pay model correctly and get themselves a good player base we could finally ... dare I say it ... have a proper iR competitor 🤣 I unsubbed from iR for nearly a year but wanted to get back into sim racing and was sad to see this isn't ready yet, but it does seem to be getting there.
Looks good. Expect some things: - independent resizable in screen info - independent placement (like iracing) - relative difference next to drivers name, not far right - radar pop ups quite suddenly (prefer ACCs) - An option to a speed gauge with info (gas, TC, ABS, speed…) Graphics look great and handling seems to be nice, as tyres seem to flex nicely 😊
Great video as always, Dave!! There's something with Rennsport that just looks weird, I main Raceroom, but even watching iRacing videos or driving in AC and ACC everything look normal, with this one something feels off. Maybe the movement, the speed or FOV? I don't even know
I agree. The cars look really floaty to me in some places, particularly when overdriving in a corner. Might be something the camera is doing. Or an odd parallax effect created by the "layers" of trees in some places, where the trees far away move differently than the ones that are closer, which also look like they are moving differently to the track.
Looks great. Breaking still looks odd. Like tires are supper sticky into corner but supper slidy on throttle. Ive not had the opertunity to try the beta though. Just how its looks.
I have. As I have zero horses in the race I'll just tell you outright that the tires are actual garbage. It's more like driving Gran Turismo 4 than any modern sims. It's kinda like the car is floating on the road and arbitrary inputs dictate how much it slides. Zero feel of grip on other than having what feels like near infinite grip while braking (until you don't and just spin around). Something is up with the ffb too, but that might just be specific to my gear for all I know. Had to invert the ffb to start, and on my Moza base at least there's practically no feel from the front axle. It's almost as if all the surfaces are sticking so it takes considerable effort to turn the wheel, but almost nothing as far as information other than curb hits gets through. Saying that, there is a really nice feel over the front axle that you can feel in the wheel as you brake and load the front tires. You can actually feel that the steering needs more work with the added weight. I'll give them that. But that's also basically the only thing I can say that stands out as a positive so far. Everything else is either "sure, it's OK I guess assuming it's all still very much WIP" or "yup, this simcade alright". If this reflects what the finished product will feel like you'd have to absolutely hate acc and iracing to prefer this. But we'll see what happens over time. My concern is that if this is what they consider a "strong base" I don't suspect it'll get much better. I'd be happy to be wrong though as competition ultimately benefits us as users/customers.
I feel the same. People forget how much knowhow and time kunos spend to let a physics model work as it is in v1.9 of ACC that is based on the older Unreal Engine. There is simply no way Rennsport could be better at this after just a view years of development. AMS2 1.5, ACC 1.9, AC2 and the new LeMans Ultimate and maybe even the next iracing update will be far ahead at physics. My guess is that Rennsport will end up as the next project cars.
Good Video. Of course we cannot assess the handling, ffb and overall feel of the Sim by just watching. Hopefully, they will release a Demo to play before purchase. Personally, I woulld prefer the Iracing SaaS in order to help fund further development, which is always the Bane of Sim Racing Games.
I was really confused with how you were just keeping the car in 5th all the way down the back straight to the bus stop. What exactly was the reason behind that? I feel like you were losing a lot of speed by not shifting to 6th
Looks like acc. The way the other cars appear on track. Abit natural. But what are they doing different than what we already have now and have had for many years.
If it gets LMPs and/or LMDh THEN I'll be interested. Dont see racing games really respect LMP and DPi cars like i want. Good to see another team getting into racing tho.
Still trying to figure out where that "next evolution of simracing" is at. I know this is a beta and all, but still looks like it is not bringing something revolutionary to the table in comparision to other sims.
I really get a very funcky FFB from this sim. My wheel(MPX) seems to turn violently to the left or to the right wheel i release the steering wheel. Am i the only one here?
This was more fun than I was expecting - mostly down to Dave of course! Obviously happy to have found the perfect sim-racing wife - congratulations, she is fab! As for the sim, still looking promising even if it is yet to really excite without anything unique or new to offer. Online looked solid, with no obvious glitches, but then we didn't see a huge grid of swearing Ozzies to really test the netcode!
Hey Dave, just a heads up that I'm hearing a really high frequency ear piercing noise whenever you're talking in this video that actually quite hurts to listen to on my headphones. Not a complaint really, just letting you know. Thanks for all the great content!
Looks nice. I just think its going to be nightmare to run this on VR with decent fps. In other hand i have spent way too much money into iracing which i still enjoy alot. Seems like worth to try out, but i dont see myself moving to rennsport from iracing.
I guess my question would be, what is Rennsport going to bring to the table that no one else has?? I think AC2 is going to crush everyone when it comes out... I guess I just don't see this game doing something better then Automobilista or AC or RF2 or RaceRoom.. I mean some of these games already have a low turn out on steam...
It’s just a different POV setting. Wider angle of vision = sides moving quicker = higher sense of speed. I beliave he did that because rennsport does not support triple screen yet.
Well I guess that’s a good sign. Sorry for the vague questions, I’m on my honeymoon and I’m half cut! Will be you soon Dave!! 🤣 And congrats to you and the hen.

Does it just look like the Tracklimits are way more restrictive than in ACC, or are they?
Nice Video.
Is it just me or does there seem to be a weird delay in the sound the curbs make?
Dont have access just yet, so wanna ask how the FFB on the Invicta base is in Rennsport? :)
Pretty good although it feels like I need to add a little damping which I don't need on most other sims

Hmmm, I've not heard that on any device I've listened to this video on. I'm old, with old ears though 😁
They need to change those penalty messages or add a spotter to dictate them to you. That’s WAY too much text to read while racing
You'll probably be able to turn it off in the hud settings menu.
How's rennsport on triple? Does it work? What are the fps you get?
I noticed FPS dropping down into the 80's at times, and know you have a pretty powerful PC. What resolution is your monitor?
Dave, is that radar showing the other car part of Rensport or your software?
Built in radar
Looks more like a pc version of Gran Turismo to me
gravel slows the car down more in other sims than in Rennsport apparently.
Too much camber on all four tires, I see. Don't know how much it would affect the handling if these were proper set up.
Rear tyres overheated/overworked
noo the ending 😂

The proximity Radar allone would be worth switching from iRacing to Rennsport
I hope this is a placeholder sound. Sounds too artificial for me and not like the real car. Otherwise: No VR, no motion, no buy anyway....

Not a fan of iRacing's penalty system, so I don't love seeing essentially the same system implemented here.

Bit hard to judge visuals to that level of detail when watching a captured video on youtube I would say.
No slowdowns is a deal breaker. Just cut Eau Rouge every lap to gain a second or more for a single incident point
Better to do a stop and go for every 5 off track incidents. That would make a real impact on driving "styles". Would be better for iRacing too, 4x's induced by slowdown mishaps are no fun.
It’s going to take a while for anything to Rival Iracing. unfortunately. Any kind of monopoly is bad
