This was the golden age of cartoons for 80's kids. Getting the toys based off our favorite show(s) allowed our imaginations to come up with our own episodes with them when a half hour of TV wasn't enough. I remember all of these. A time in life I'll never forget and wish everyone could have experienced.
That's actually why they passed regulations against these kind of shows, i.e. toy driven cartoons. Educational/moral groups thought it was wrong to market to kids this way and parent got tired of constantly getting nagged by their kids to buy them the hottest new toy.
One of the things I liked about Gummy Bears is that it had a story arc that progressed with each season, and it ultimately had a definitive ending. Most animated shows at the time were either completely episodic or got cancelled before they could finish their story.
Many cartoons intentionally avoided story arcs because they were produced "for syndication" and had no control over when or what order the episodes would air. But the first 4 seasons of Gummy Bears was produced for NBC (this was before Disney acquired ABC) so they had the luxury of knowing how many episodes would air and knew they would air in order. If you re-watch the series, watch for any changes in the way the writers handled seasons 1-4 verses seasons 5-6.
I watched Thundercats as an adult, and I’m like gosh, how many times are they going to repeatedly fall into Mumm-Ra’s traps! Or how many times will he have them in his power only to fumble at the last minute! Now there was a time where things were very briefly changed up, Mumm-Ra’s bosses were fed up with him and sealed him away for a time. I am guessing that maybe the Thundercat production crew thought the show was going to end, but it went on for some time longer. After that, of course Mumm-Ra was brought back and the same old shenanigans ensued.
Heathcliff was an awesome show that always came on after school on Nickelodeon. Loved it. I also miss M.A.S.K., and that show / toyline called something like 'Air Raiders' or something as they were all airborne toys that glided on lines. Oh, and Dino-Riders.
The Dino-Riders Toy-line is getting a reboot from the guy behind Beasts of the mesozoic, by doing a series called Cyberzoic which is blatantly Dino-Riders
I was a MANIAC for the Littles!! It came on WFTS channel 10, Tampa, Florida’s ABC affiliate in the 11 AM/11:30 AM time slot, after the main Saturday morning lineup between ‘83 and ‘85. I loved the opening titles music. The show has a distinct anime influence, although it was made by a French production company and licensed by ABC.
It had lots of memorable episodes, like the one where the mother got poisoned with a toxic gas and their human friend had to pretend to be poisoned himself so he would pass them the medicines to heal her or the episode where humans find out about their existence (it was a dream).
Great list I can honestly say though that I did NOT see a single cartoon on the list that I had forgotten. The 80's had some really memorable cartoons.

@@TheReviewStudiosThere's one I remember, sort of, but can't remember the name. What I remember from one episode, it involved I think a father and son who investigated this portal to another dimension with these creatures there, and I think the military was involved. Near the end the father was in a fight with the military leader, one of the creatures escaped, and a nuke exploded causing the dimension to implode.
Mmhm. I was hoping this would actually cover some truly obscure cartoons, like the one with animals that… covered everyone with petals? Petal power? Puppy power? 🤔

I remember most of these. To this day, I hear a little bit of their opening song and flood of memories still comes back. Like Denver the last Dinosaur, Snorks, and Heathcliff mostly from this list. Others I have some more distant memories of like Pound Puppies and The Littles. I personally liked the Snorks more than the Smurfs and while I remember watching the Gummy Bears, I really just remember it as that show that was on before DuckTales. It was fun to see the bears bouncing around, but I liked see what adventure Scrooge would be on next more.
I definitely remember all of these. But I grew up throughout all of the 80’s and 90’s watching a whole lot of cartoons, and I’m still into those decades’ nostalgia a lot. But these were the days. Just watching some of these after school, or getting up early Saturday mornings with a bowl of cereal and watching until mid-day. Animation overall, especially with certain shows, was so much better back then, the voice acting was better, and even the music. Especially on the epic show intros that they spent even more time on. Were we marketed to a lot with these to sell toys? Sure. But in most cases the toys were great too, so it was a win-win. Today I don’t know that I envy kids’ having access to anything at any time. First off, it seems much lower quality with mindless stories, just kicked out of a computer. But part of what made cartoons so great back in the day was that we didn’t have them ALL the time. So when we did, it was really special and exciting. The same goes with things like theme parks or other places you might have traveled to. You couldn’t just watch a million review videos or a POV ride-through on TH-cam. You went, and you sometimes had no IDEA of the crazy fun you were about to experience. I can remember the first time I went to Walt Disney World in 1987, I could barely even find a few still photos from it in a book or magazine. But I definitely knew what it was from people’s stories and pop culture.
The 90-00s advent of throwaway CGI stuff seem far more forgotten than material USA, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, TNT and so on kept in syndication forever. Probably still do.
You are 100% right. Well said. I’d also add that while parents fought the toy companies to uncouple their toys with cartoons. I think that was the wrong thing to do. The cartoons build a world kids could use as a springboard to make their own adventures and fun with their toys. Or not at all, if they chose to ignore it. Nowadays kids see a cool toy and have no idea what its world would look or be like so they don’t really play with toys as much. Especially outside with their friends. Commercials used to frequently depict kids with their toys playing outside with friends. I almost never see kids outside playing with toys, let alone with a group of friends. Cartoons paired with toys was a good thing. Toys nowadays are mostly collectible toys that refer to days gone by that the younger generation has little to no interest in.

I am now 43 years old, and I haven't seen some of these old friends in a long time, yet I have instant memory of these theme songs as if i had just watched it yesterday. I know every word. The wave of nostalgia I felt just seeing the Littles again blew my mind. I had completely forgotten about them. I am a middle-aged man now with a wife and kid. I am a Marine as tough as they come. I have no shame in my secret love for Jem. The second I heard that theme song ... I am instantly singing it. I had to make sure my brother and sister never caught me watching Jem because it was a girly show. Now I have no shame, I will sing the Jem theme song loud and proud and with all the passion of my heart.
As a kid I watched Heathcliff, The Littles, the Wuzzles and Jem! At the age of fifty-one I'm not at all ashamed to say I *STILL* love the music featured on Jem. Like a Dream is still my jam....dammit.... I also liked Paw-Paw Bears and Trollkins too 👍👍👍
I watched and loved every one of these cartoons!! Many I've introduced to my kids, and they enjoyed them too. 😊💕 Really great memories! Thank you for this video!
We binged-watched Jem episodes a few years ago. Of course, the plot lines of 1980s cartoons were ridiculous, but Jem’s were the best; Oh, the Misfits are guilty of attempted homicide? Nah, we won’t call the authorities, we’ll just get them next time! 😂
Thanks for these vids. Again cartoons that I remembered after so many years. But I saw them in the early 90s. Remember Heathcliff, Pound Puppies, Gummi Bears, Wozzles and Denver the Last Dinosaur.
Those days cartoons had imagination it told a story with morales, todays cartoons dont hold up. I watched most of these and still love them and have rewatched many of them
I watched all the cartoons that you featured in this video heathcliff and the catillac cats was always my favorite and you're right riff Raff mungo Wordsworth and Hector they all deserve their own show
OMG this is so nostalgic. Kids now adays don't know what they're missing. Saturday mornings growing up in the 80's was our time 🥰. The only one that I would skip was Jem and that was due to Sunday morning being my WWF wrestling time lol
Yep, I remember all of these. Jem and The Gummi Bears were my faves, and their theme songs evoke such powerful nostalgia. Loved hearing the Denver theme again - my friends and I thought that cartoon was so cool! Also, I love reading the comments of all you fellow 80s kids. You really had to be there... and we were.
DUDE!!! I remember watching MOST of these shows when I was a kid. I had a Bumblion plush when I was young! I even recently re-watched the entire series of Gummi Bears on Disney+. This video gave me huge nostalgia right now!
FLASH FACT: Heathcliff actually was intended to just be a Catallac Cats series only the production company wasnt sure if it would sell on those characters alone, so the rights to Heathcliff were acquired and paired off with the Catallac Cats segments which were also known as 'Cats and Company'. They even had their own theme song that played during random episodes instead of the more well known 'Heathcliff' version of the theme.
Is that how it worked? I thought maybe Chalopin got the rights to produce Heathcliff cartoons after the Ruby-Spears concluded, but piggybacked his own Catillac Cats just so he’d have his own stable of characters as insurance, since George Gately would retain the rights to Heathcliff.
@@maximusprime3459 ah. I never knew that. Funny thing was that for maybe the first week or so (memory is fuzzy) after it’s syndicated debut, each half hour slot featured 2 Heathcliff cartoons. Then soon the programming switched to one Heathcliff + 1Catallac cats cartoon that thereafter. Heathcliff wasn’t the most famous or popular cartoon character before DiC’s series, but I guess a little bit of name recognition is still better than none.
I wished my favourites past Disney animated Series like The Gummie Bears, Darkwing Duck, Wuzzles, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, House of Mouse, Kim Possible and American Dragon Jake Long are finally released onto Blu- Ray at last just like they did for Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers.
I grew up watching most of the cartoons on this list(Heathcliff, The Littles, Jem, Gummy Bears, Pound Puppies, Snorks, and Denver) and it shows how much influence they were in our lives. And if it wasn’t for the USA Cartoon Express, we would’ve never known some of the shows
The only one I didn't watch was Denver. I loved all of the others. Another one that I loved was Monchichis. It came out in 1983, but only had 13 episodes. It was based on the stuffed toys. I also watched Shirt Tales that ran from 82-85. There were 23 episodes with 2 stories in each episode. Nancy Cartwright joined the voice cast in season 2.
Heathcliff/The Cadillac Cats and Gummy Bears were among my favorite cartoons as a kid in the 80s. I saw a few episodes of Denver the Last Dinosaur and liked that one as well. I had never known that The Littles was made into a cartoon show, but I was a fan of the books. I never saw the Popples, Rainbow Brite or Pound Puppies shows, but I was familiar with the related merchandise. I wasn't aware of the other three shows until many years later.
The only one I didn't know, at all, was the dinosaur one. I did watch the rest, mostly because of my younger siblings, except for The Littles, that was my favorite on this list & Jem...I watched that because of the girl I would eventually marry & we just celebrated our 29th anniversary. So, watching Jem paid off. 😂
I also had never heard of the dinosaur one till now. The Littles, Heathcliff and Snorks I remember watching, the rest I was at least aware of but wasn't interested in seeing.
I remember ALL of these cartoons! But I only watched( starting with my favorite)Jem, Heathcliff, The Littles, Gummi Bears and Denver! The rest of the cartoons, I do remember but wasn't interested in watching them. Great memories! I miss the 80's!
I loved all these shows. I never watched the Snorks though. I liked the Smurfs. I adored the Gummy Bears due to its deep lore and great storytelling, I watched it non-stop on the Disney Afternoon. I also wished there was a show just for the Cadillac Cats. The episodes would have been less rushed if they were given a full half hour. Hector and Wordsworth were my favorite.
I remember all of these. Some of them my sister was more of a fan of such as "Rainbow Brite", and "Jem." I recall sitting on my couch watching "Heathcliff." around 1985 while in kindergarten. I too enjoyed the "Catillac Cats" segment more than "Heathcliff" itself.
Saturday mornings 🌄 were great as a kid. I liked Ducked Tails, Denver the Last Dinosaur 🦕, Poples, Pound Puppies 🐶, The Littles, Heathcliff 🐈 😻, I loved ❤ the Snorkes, Rainbow 🌈 ❤ Bright 🌞, Jem and Halagrams, and of course the Grummy Bears 🐻. I watched every one of these when I was a kid. I had a Pound Puppy and a Pound Kitty stuffed animal. I'm pretty sure I had at least one Popple. Wow, I had absolutely forgotten about The Littles, but as soon as I saw them I instantly remembered loving that show as a kid. So many great and wholesome shows for kids back then. I really miss Saturday morning cartoons with my brothers and fighting over what we'd watch next. lol
I admit it. I completely forgot all about Denver until the theme song, then it all came flooding back. It was part of a cartoon lineup that included My Pet Monster. I used to watch one called “Bravestar” about a Native American future space cowboy and his talking cyborg horse. Memory flood!!
I remember crying as a kid when the Gummy Bears used that huge telegraph machine and discovered there was at least one last colony of bears across the sea.
I was actually thinking of Heathcliff last week, wondering how many of my old school friends would still remember it :D... glad to know there are enough people who enjoyed and remember it.
My sisters and I loved Heathcliff, Jem, Rainbow Brite, and The Adventures of the Gummy Bears!!!! My middle sister had the Rainbow Brite sheets. My oldest sister had the Shana doll from Jem and the Holograms. This brought back so many great childhood memories. Thank you!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I watched ALL of these… I loved The Littles so much… I couldn’t wait to catch that show on tv. The opening theme and animation was amazing. And Jem and the Holograms was EVERYTHING to me… that the Wuzzles was a get call back. I forgot all about that one and just like that all my memories were returned.
I'll NEVER forget Heathcliff. I read the comics as a kid and always around Christmas, there was a Heathcliff marathon. As an adult, I found all the episodes on DVD and bought them so my son could enjoy them. He's almost an adult and we still have those DVDs. 🙂
I really enjoyed this video. A real blast from the past. As far as Saturday morning cartoons went, the littles was one of my favorites. So was the shirt tales, but that one didn’t make the list. I guess it’s not as forgotten as these
Man, being an 80s kid was definitely the best times. I watched all of these cartoons and they were very enjoyable. Interesting enough, Heathcliff sometimes came on Pluto Tv at times; which brought my childhood back to life. And yes, even the Disney Afternoon was amazing
Ain't a single one of us 80s kids forgot all the gems from childhood. Those commercial jingles still live rent free in our heads.

Haven’t seen some of these in decades yet sang along as soon as the song started in this video! 😆🙈

I also liked Paw-Paw Bears and Trollkins too 👍👍👍
awww yess!! Paw-Paw Bears, I loved that show and Galtar and the Golden Lance.
I remember every single one of these. Then my back cracked and I *really* remembered them.
The Littles was a favorite of mine. Loved that show.
The Denver the last dinosaur theme pops into my head once in awhile!
Same here
All I needed was a box of Pac-Man cereal, Smurf Berry Crunch. Still sing the songs to some of these shows.
I remember all of them! They were all well known cartoons here in Italy in the 80s, I was a massive fan of Jem, I adored her!
Stavo per commentare lo stesso. Chi se li scorda! Io adoravo anche Iridella!
These were some of my favorites! ❤
I watched and loved every one of these cartoons!! Many I've introduced to my kids, and they enjoyed them too. 😊💕 Really great memories! Thank you for this video!
I was a major fan of Gem growing up. I just could not get enough of the theme song each time an episode aired
Too bad their live action movie is terrible or so I've heard
We binged-watched Jem episodes a few years ago. Of course, the plot lines of 1980s cartoons were ridiculous, but Jem’s were the best; Oh, the Misfits are guilty of attempted homicide? Nah, we won’t call the authorities, we’ll just get them next time! 😂
Thanks for these vids. Again cartoons that I remembered after so many years. But I saw them in the early 90s. Remember Heathcliff, Pound Puppies, Gummi Bears, Wozzles and Denver the Last Dinosaur.
you're welcome thanks for watching and sharing
Those days cartoons had imagination it told a story with morales, todays cartoons dont hold up. I watched most of these and still love them and have rewatched many of them
Amazing video of forgetting beloved 80 cartoons, fantastic job.
Thank you 😊
I watched all the cartoons that you featured in this video heathcliff and the catillac cats was always my favorite and you're right riff Raff mungo Wordsworth and Hector they all deserve their own show
80s cartoons...nothing like them back then. Cool times 👍
Anyone with any understanding of animation history still remembers some of these.
The adventures of Teddy Ruxpin.
@@brodriguez11000 One example for sure.
Now that you mentioned it I remember there being two theme songs to the series heathcliff and one of the songs was called cats;and co.
Great info, thank you
Is that how it worked? I thought maybe Chalopin got the rights to produce Heathcliff cartoons after the Ruby-Spears concluded, but piggybacked his own Catillac Cats just so he’d have his own stable of characters as insurance, since George Gately would retain the rights to Heathcliff.
@@75aces97 Catallac Cats segments were made first. Once they(DiC) secured Heathcliff, they added his segments in.
I remember all of these. You could do an entire series of forgotten 80's cartoons because there were so many. Dinosaucers comes to mind.
The he man opening theme song still chills me to this day love it
"I HAVE THE POWER"
The internet has ruined me, instead I hear 4 Non Blondes' hit "What's Up?" 🙃
I wished my favourites past Disney animated Series like The Gummie Bears, Darkwing Duck, Wuzzles, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, House of Mouse, Kim Possible and American Dragon Jake Long are finally released onto Blu- Ray at last just like they did for Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers.
There are only a few cartoons in the eighties that aren’t thinly disguised toy commercials
Peak capitalism.
True. I had a popple pal, a pound puppy, and a rainbow brite doll back then.
Way up in the trees live the monchichis.
Monchichis mean happiness!
This is before that Nancy Cartwright will be best known as the voice of Bart Simpson.
Classic cartoons I remember all of them 😊
I absolutely love this channel, it's in my top 5 thanks to the warm and fuzzies it regularly gifts me, thank you!!!!
Wow, thank you! We appreciate the support
So cool, thanks for watching .
Definitely agreed. You can walk down memory lane. Gummi Bears are on disney+ and heathcliff is streaming free on Pluto as of now. Thanks for watching.
You didn't miss anything special. Snorks was a terrible cartoon
OMG I hadn't thought about Heathcliff in years! I watched the original run as a kid back in the 80's. It was so much fun!
Let us know which one you remember
Definitely Heath-cliff and Snorks
Rainbow Brite!
Cops
I grew up watching most of these. I even look them up on TH-cam every now and then. Absolutely not forgotten. 💖
Loved that cartoon back in the day! What I never understood was why Riff-raff had the baddest girlfriend if it was Heathcliff's show? Just sayin'....
Wow! These Saturday cartoons take me back to the great times, such as "The Littles," Heathcliff, " &"Jem."
I love cartoons
All of these shows were brilliant! Most of which I am still waiting to make it it to DVD in the UK!
What about Astro Boy inspector gadget. Richie Rich The Racoons
Looks like 4 titles for part 2. Thanks
I loved the Raccoons
Saturday mornings 🌄 were great as a kid. I liked Ducked Tails, Denver the Last Dinosaur 🦕, Poples, Pound Puppies 🐶, The Littles, Heathcliff 🐈 😻, I loved ❤ the Snorkes, Rainbow 🌈 ❤ Bright 🌞, Jem and Halagrams, and of course the Grummy Bears 🐻. Awesome cartoon happy 😊 memories of Saturday Mornings 🌄. 😎 Thanks for making the video 📹 take care.
Thanks for watching
Oh Heathcliff, Heathcliff no one should terrify the neighbourhood ❤
I watched every one of these when I was a kid. I had a Pound Puppy and a Pound Kitty stuffed animal. I'm pretty sure I had at least one Popple. I had the whole set of Rainbow Bright dolls, and for one Halloween, my mom and I had matching Rainbow Bright costumes that she made. I think she even had the cake pan. Man, I really miss those shows.
Heathcliff and The littles are not forgotten.
Im 42 and i sometimes sing the denver the last dinasour song its weird i really didnt watch it but few times the song pops into my head usually once a month
fun and safe cartoons of the 80's. No wokeness
That's for sure. Thanks for watching
I can’t imagine that someone would have forgotten any of these shows.
Yeah I really underestimated the memory of our 80s viewers. Thanks for watching.
I loved every single one of these shows as a kid. Thanks for the reminder.
Wow, I had absolutely forgotten about The Littles, but as soon as I saw them I instantly remembered loving that show as a kid.
So many great and wholesome shows for kids back then. I really miss Saturday morning cartoons with my brothers and fighting over what we'd watch next. lol
same here that intro was buried deep somewhere
I can't be the only person who remembers all of these? I didn't watch them all, but I knew they were out there
I was actually thinking of Heathcliff last week, wondering how many of my old school friends would still remember it :D... glad to know there are enough people who enjoyed and remember it.
Gummy bears, dark wind duck and bonkers also widget the world watcher songs will forever be tattooed in my memories!
I remember all of these cartoons. Thanks for the nostalgic flashbacks.
My mother got me heathcliff the board game when I was a kid for Christmas
I watched all of these as a kid! I still remember most of the theme songs too. What a nice walk down memory lane. 🙂
Thank you!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's awesome. Thanks for watching
I guess it’s not as forgotten as these
Glad you enjoyed it
Gummi Bears to this day has the best opening song of any cartoon
Man, being an 80s kid was definitely the best times. I watched all of these cartoons and they were very enjoyable. Interesting enough, Heathcliff sometimes came on Pluto Tv at times; which brought my childhood back to life. And yes, even the Disney Afternoon was amazing
