I was born in May of 1979, and grew up throughout the 80’s. I honestly remember every single one of these, still love them all, and can still recite all of their theme songs. Anyone like me who grew up in this time truly grew up during the very best time to be a kid. I honestly feel sorry for kids of the last 10-20 years. Sure they have smart phones, the internet, and HD video games and movies, but so many of those have no heart, mystery, or excitement to them. Kids today will never understand the joy of waking up early for Saturday morning cartoons for example, or having to actually wait to experience something. Today everything is instantly available, 24/7, and you have hundreds of places to experience it all. I suppose that’s great in some ways, but it takes away from any meaning or excitement with it. I’m addition, a lot of the great storytelling and artistry that animation used to have is largely gone. And before you disagree with me, know that I studied animation, film and television production in college, have a degree in it, and have worked in the industry for over 18 years. I’ve tried to counter some of these things, and I try to not be cynical, but many times anymore it does feel like a losing battle.
Well said. The 80's was a renaissance of sorts, when it came to animation. The story-telling and blunt subject titles is a thing that will most likely never come again.

There are quite a few cartoons missing. Things like Jem and the Holograms, She-Ra, Danger Mouse, Astro Boy, Mask, SuperTed, Lucky Luke, and Bananaman are a few I can think of from the top of my head.
As a woman born in 1982, I can not help but notice Strawberry Shortcake, Fragile Rock, my little pony, pound puppies and rainbow bright are all missing. But they did include many from 1980-1989.

@@jasonkohlmeier6707 Scooby-Doo (and all of the knockoffs: Jabberjaw, Josie & the Pussycats, Funky Phantom, Speed Buggy, etc.), The Flinstones, The Jetsons, and all of the Hanna-Barbera characters are all from the '60s and earlier, but had either new iterations (Scooby) or continued reruns in perpetuity.
I remember these shows well. Used to watch all of the cartoons back in the 70's, 80's and early 90's. Got to watch them again when my nephews were old enough to get into them. Of the ones listed in this video, Inspector Gadget was my favorite. Loved everything about it: the theme song, animated style, characters and weird gadgets. Dr. Claw is still my favorite cartoon villain. So funny but packed with action.
But why’d she have to talk over the “whoooo” in Duck Tales, lol?! That’s the best part! :D So many great memories from so many of these, the 80’s were the best time to be a kid!
You know I watch all of these countdowns. Of 80 shows. No one has mentioned fantastic Max. Kissy fur. Shirt tail. They get along gang. Paw paw bears. The snarks. I was truly a cartoon head from the 80s. Reading rainbow.
Born in 82 and was 8 by 1990 so of course I grew up on 80's cartoons. I remember Bunky Bruster the animated series, Gummy Bears, Duckvania, The Littles, Jem, Voltron, TMNT, Fantastic Max, He-Man, Rescue, Rangers,. Duck Tails, and sooo many more. It was the last decade for great cartoons and when Saturday mornings was a block out for kids tv only from 5am to 11am.
I grew up on Saturday morning cartoons. Getting up a 6 am. Just to watch my favorite shows! Now, I don't want want to get out of bed on Saturday mornings for just about anything!

Althought I was in born late 86, I grew up in the late 80s and 90s, I still had Muppet Babies, The Bugs Bunny Show (when it was known as The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show at the time), The Smurfs, The Real Ghostbusters (and later Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters), The Woody Woodpecker Show (1987 version), Inspector Gadget, G.I. Joe, Care Bears, Disney's DuckTales, TMNT, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Dennis the Menace, Garfield, Police Academy: The Animated Series, C.O.P.S., Disney's Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, The Simpsons, Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Captain N: The Game Master and so on.
Ducktales, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He- Man and the Masters of the Universe, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and The Ghostbusters were some of my favorites.

I have seen the majority of these cartoons, and this brought back memories of my Saturday mornings when I was a kid. I wish I could go back😊! I just wish that cartoons today, brought the same hart filled messages as our cartoons did☺️. Also, I wish the narrator did Heath Cliff, My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, and Jam. Great job. The days of eating cereal and watching cartoons. You revived those memories. P.S. The 80's Transformers cartoon and 1986 movie are still better than all of the bogus movies.
The 80's and early 90's were the best time to be a kid in literally every way. I was a latchkey kid. The movies, the music, the toys, the video games, the cartoons. I may be bias but I'm also right!
Some argue that the '80s were the last decade when kids could play outside relatively unsupervised. Children would often leave their homes in the morning, play with their friends all day, and only come back home when the streetlights came on.
@@storyreels.official Yeah, we were those kids! Absolutely they had no idea what we were doing but we were smart. We made trouble without being in danger if that makes sense.

The problem with your list is that half of it was aimed at toddlers and little girls and the other half were aimed at young/tween/early teen boys. No boy in high school or even Jr. High in the 80s was going to sit and watch Carebears, but many loved ThunderCats. You need two lists - one with all the baby cartoons and a second with much more advanced and violent cartoons. You can add Snorks and Pac-man and all that stuff to the former and add Thundarr, Black Starr, Flash Gordon and Tarzan (though the last 2 might have started in the late 70s). Anyway, you get the point.
There's several you forgot, I'm probably forgetting some too, but off the top of my head Jem and the Holograms, Beverly Hills Teens, Dinosaucers, Silver Hawks, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, COPS, Captain N: The Game Master, Captain Power, Scooby Doo & Scrappy Doo Puppy Hour, Robotech, Mask, Bionic Six, Tiger Sharks, Street Frogs, and The Mighty Orbots which only lasted one season but it's animation was on par with feature animations like Transformers the Movie, and it was just a series, I'd imagine that's why it was canceled too expensive to produce as a weekly series.

The question is...where would we have been w.out all the awesome 80's cartoons? Not to mention the inclusion of the NES(Nintendo Ent. System, of course!) 80's kids most definitely had it good before the suits pulled the reins of programming. But hey, at least as adults we have what our folks never did; "adult animation" in forms of Seth McFarlane properties, Bobs Burgers, Adult Swim...we STILL have cartoons! 😁❤️
No My Little Pony, Dinosaucers, MASK, Wheeled Warriors, or Denver the Last Dinosaur? Sadface. These are all great, and I was singing along with every theme song (though I think Ducktales deserved the number 1 spot), but giving reruns from the 60s one of the top spots doesn't seem fair. Ah, well.

The new alvinnn and the chipmunks that's on Nickelodeon is a direct upgrade from the 80's version. I watch this one with my 3 year old son. I was also born in 82' and I can't believe how well written the new alvin and the chipmunks is. Dave and chipmunks sound like the 80's characters. They even had the rights for the 80's theme song.

Awww. Nothing about Tigershark(s?) with their distress call of "Tiger, Tiger, By The Tail" when one of them, including their sentient submarine, was in trouble? I think Battletech even aired in the mid 80's with it's surprisingly detailed CGI for its time when The Clan used its Image Enhancement combat feature.
I am 48 and have always been a fan of "CLASSIC" animation and I remember every one of these. As a kid, I remember Saturday mornings when I would make a bowl of Cap N' Crunch, plop down in front of the TV, and watch my favorites. Which were mostly the ones based on video games. Here is a little trivia regarding Inspector Gadget. It was a take on the popular sitcom from the 60s Get Smart created by Buck Henry and Mel Brooks. Maxwell Smart, employed by "Control" a secret spy service for the USA, was played by the late Don Adams. He always had these goofy yet useful gadgets to assist him in battling the evil forces of "KAOS" I bring up this classic TV show because Inspector Gadget was voiced by Don Adams who was also a producer of the show. So, Inspector Gadget is to Maxwell Smart as Dr. Claw is to KAOS. This is the truth. Don't believe me, watch a few episodes of both, and then you will understand.

The only difference? The person solving the bumbling cyber-cop's cases for him is his niece Penny & their sentient pantomime dog Brain, whereas on _Get Smart_ it was Maxwell's female partner/future wife, Agent 9.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh Actually Barbara Feldon's character's name is "99" Also, many years ago, there was a Get SMart movie starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway as Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 respectively. Even Dwayne Johnson is in it. The movie is hilarious.

Lorenzo Music voiced both Garfield and Tummi Gummi from Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears. The only cartoon which was inspired by a beloved candy. Nanna from Muppet Babies was voiced by Barbara Billingsly who was best known for her role as June Cleaver on the classic show Leave It To Beaver. James Avery, who was best known for his role as Uncle Phil on the TV show, The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, provided the voice for the evil Shredder. The voice of Scrooge McDuck was provided by Alan Young who is best remembered for his role as Wilber Post from the, once again, classic TV show, Mr. Ed. The only show in history, I believe, where the star is a talking horse.
Lorenzo Music also provided the vocals for Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters. He also has the distinction of being an actor who provided the voice for a Bill Murray role and for Bill Murray to provide the voice for the film version of Garfield.

Transformers should’ve been #1. There should never have been any question. And DUCK TALES above them AND G.I.JOE?? And where is M.A.S.K.? All those Disney cartoons didn’t need to be on there. Duck Tales, yes, but NOT above Transformers or G.I.Joe or Voltron. It was a good list, though, and brought back many memories
I’m questioning a couple things…I agree with almost ALL of these cartoons…except the first one. Change the name of the title to Cartoons the came out of the 80’s and that would fit. The Simpsons, however, NEVER aired on Saturday morning (at least in the USA…it was a night time cartoon. Originally done as a skit on Tracey Ullman’s variety show, then turned into its own series on FOX. Also…D&D…was kind of seen as Devil Worship in the 80’s… there were TONS of rumors of D&D leading to cult worship, or satanic acts, or other HIGHLY outlandish things. Just and FYI.

Heathcliff however, were far better mainly the theme song. Definitely Muppet Babies theme song. Here's the funny part I didn't watch em till they became re-runs playing on other station's. I played with Master's of the Universe toys never watched it! Okay, Ducktail's/ Chip & Dale Rescue Ranger's/Tail Spin/Goof Troop/& Dark Wing Duck (not G.I. The 80s Transformers will always be the best series, no matter how many reboots they make.
@dreamguardian8320, I 💯 % agree!
The original cartoons are always the best. Remakes always add something that wasn't in the original that don't make sense. I hate when they mess up a classic cartoon or series when they do these remakes.
@@josephclegg3562 I hate when they turn cool action shows into crude and unfunny comedy shows. Just like they did to the Teen Titans and Thundercats.

A+ video!

Omg i just became 8 again and i love it. I vividly remember alot of these cartoons. Those were the good ol days ❤

all these deserved a higher rating
No My Little Pony, Dinosaucers, MASK, Wheeled Warriors, or Denver the Last Dinosaur? Sadface. These are all great, and I was singing along with every theme song (though I think Ducktales deserved the number 1 spot), but giving reruns from the 60s one of the top spots doesn't seem fair. Ah, well.

Lorenzo Music was also in The Real Ghostbusters, as the original voice of Peter.

Hi there, some of these cartoons are mentioned in this video: th-cam.com/video/kw-U0Xnz3pE/w-d-xo.html

I loved Dungeons and Dragons! Watching them now, its kind of stupid. But back then it was cool.
The Simpsons only officially statrted their own show by the start of the '90s and well into the present. But, before that, they were merely animated segments on The Tracey Ullman Show.
Than you for the video. Getting all sorts of good memories and flash backs of childhood

The camping trip was probably one of the best Simpsons episode
How about The Jetsons they made a twenty year comeback with more episodes and a Hanna Barbera crossover with The Flintstones.
The Jetsons meet the Flintstones was more of an animated movie than a cartoon series. It was still great, tho.

Inspector gadget is an 80s cartoon? They showed through the early 2000s when the live action movie came out. I also remember when the McDonald’s toys were popular as well I collected them all. 😂
It was first released in the 80s :)

I remember losing it watching the transformer cartoon movie from the 80's. Seeing transformers die gave emotional damage.
I just switched my swatch watch to all purple... let's do this!!!
The 80s had some of the best tv shows imaginable. It's a shame that TV now is a bunch of poorly animated garbage that even a fetus would think is retarded...but yet kids love it... i dont understand. lol Inspector Gadget/He-Man/Silverhawks/Thundercats were some of my favs
