first of all... before they make the movie they already ask permissions from the creator/mangaka... SO if you want to complain, complain at the mangaka
second... its a live action version... you cant expect everything to be the same as the anime
I know what you mean--I was hoping for his signature look too. But I think it is important to remember that he is no longer with Ciel and is living in a different place and time. Maybe this is the way the new owner prefers him to look. Why, I can't imagine but everyone has different tastes. You must also remember that his original hairstyle was very anachronistic for the Victorian age. Lady Francis certainly pointed that out when she came for a visit! So maybe his weird hairstyle now is also meant to be anachronistic, to remind us that he doesn't fit in with humanity. Or maybe he is just not very good at choosing the right hairstyle for the right time period! He did seem to have a little trouble understanding what was normal for a human after all.
marthaba In fact Rurouni Kenshin was pretty...pretty similar, to a big extent, not only alike, it was very very acurate. So yeah...Oh and where's the fantasy? It seems like a lame C.S.I. japanese live action with a suposed demon wannabe and a girl (suposed to be a boy) with something in her eye acting like she is so bad XD and japanese doing english...oh god!

To all those saying Ciel's hair is gray not black: IF YOU WATCH THE ANIME YOU CAN CLEARLY TELL THAT CIEL'S HAIR IS A BLACKISH BLUE. VERY VERY DARK BLUE. THE FANS JUST LIKE TO CHANGE HIS HAIR TO GRAY FOR COSPLAY AND SUCH.

I just---ghhhh-- I actually like Sebastian's actor in this -_- screw what the hair looks like. Sebastian's actor captures the character really well! Originally, the line was intended to be "I am just a butler"- which in Japanese romaji reads 'aku made shitsuji desu'. When preparing the English print for Volume 1 of the manga, Toboso altered the romaji to 'akuma de shitsuji desu', which (although pronounced the same) is translated as "I am a devil and a butler", which was further altered through interpretation to eventually become "I am a devil of a butler" when the volume went to print. It can be seen as a kind of inside joke- one can assume- as this meant (when reading the romaji) Sebastian is indirectly telling everyone he is a devil. This line became consistent thoughout both seasons of the anime's Japanese dub- Kuroshitsuji. It was only when the English subtitles were added that the line became "I'm simply one hell of a butler", which (as most of us will come to be comfortable with) was used in FUNimation's English dub of the anime- Black Butler.

Everyone complaining about Sebastian's line when it's actually the exact same one from the Anime lmfaoooo, the difference is that whoever subbed this, translated it to a similar meaning. 'Cause the original Japanese word can be translated to more than just one sentence.

Am I the only one who actually likes this movie for what it was and didn't care about the differences made in this from the manga and anime? Because I was confused at first when watching this movie, yes- but after I found out everything about how this was in a different time frame and who the main character actually was, I didn't mind it anymore because it was still fantastic nonetheless. Plus.. I don't care what anyone else thinks, but in my opinion, this Sebastian is really hot.
This is freaking awesome!!! Though, I really wished if the person acting as Sebastian and Ciel would kinda b like in the anime...they don't look as much as the character.....

I am so excited to see this! I find the differences between the live action and manga a little disturbing, but it still looks AWESOME. Sebastian looks like a freaking BAMF and his voice is glorious.
I don't get why are people whining. If you don't like the movie, don't watch. This movie have been done brilliantly so don't just bash people's hard work. I think the film is just wonderfully satisfying with the beautiful views and action scenes _-and how romance have been done.-_ By the way, that isn't Ciel. It's a *she* and her name is Shiori. She's 17. The film setting is *2020 in Japan.*
They should of put more work into it. There are so many things wrong with this. Like how Ciel is a girl and Sebastion doesn't have straight hair.
BLAZE You can never get anything to be perfect. I personally think Sebastian hair is good enough because in the manga, his hair makes his face looks longer. And they made Ciel is a girl on purpose. I heard that the author wanted to put some romance in the movie, and that's exactly why I watched this.

This movie really isn't as bad as everyone thinks. I just finished watching it and the only flaws I can think of is that Finny and Baldroy aren't in it and instead of her name being Mey-Rin she is just Rin. But I think the plot is actually better because of the reason for the killings.

@@ryeleighrayne3036 I watched it and I don't remember it having Grell in it. Only a fairly small portion of the characters are there. Also the plot is quite different in the live action but it is still pretty entertaining.

fans are getting so bent out of shape about the movie because it doesn't fit the way THEY saw Sebastian or it's not the same setting as the anime. if you want something exactly like the anime then common sense should tell you stick with the anime..

mabel boone There are reasons behind why this movie was made as it was as far as cast and time setting goes, and it's been explained on sites and within the movie itself actually. One can't go into a movie thinking it to be just like the anime as expectations will be too high and you'll most likely be disappointed...as I've seen a lot of commenters are. It just doesn't work out that way as there are obvious limitations when you go from anime to real life people. I felt the movie was fitting in the Black Butler universe and was a great watch, but that's only my opinion.
mabel boone No offense, but the movie would be totally white-washed if they used Western actors. The only actors that can pull of Anime characters are the Japanese. Simple! But all in all, I loved it!

The movie is so good. I always watch it when I'm able too. Kiyoharu may not be Ciel, but it still stays in somewhat tact with the anime plot.

I mean the freakin characters don't even look right. First of all Ciel's hair is grey not black! Second Sebastian's hair is straight! And he was doing like karate not throwing butter knives and forks at people! And they messed up the most infamous black butler line!!! "I'm simply one hell of a butler" I mean how can you mess that up!?
Oh and Ciel's parents were killed in a fire not how this trailer says! And that's only the tip of the iceberg!

Really, my dear. They made the characters with realistic hair. Seriously, what 13 year old kid has naturally grey hair? And the knives? It's a movie, things are going to be more flashy. Can't say I like the idea of a live action movie, but they'll take liberties to make it more appealing to others.

I find it amazing how i am not a fan of kuro but i am more mad that they completly messed up in the movie then the fans, the fans are like: Okay sebas is different, okay is in the future, okay it's a girl...Oh yeah i forgot, most Kuro fans have wet dreams of being a female descendant of Ciel and have Sebas licking their pussies...i forgot! They forgot that Kuro was suposed to be HARD YAOI....and they just changed that because of mainstream, same with this movie, they just didnt follow the main story because it has ALOT of gay hints, AND GOD FORBITS GAY TO BE SHOWN!

I was worried at first since this will not be the characters we already know, but it looks pretty good. It makes sense that Sebastian would change his form a bit for a new owner and a new time. I would love it if he looked like the manga/anime character come to life but I can live without that. The important thing is that it looks like he can BE Sebastian--I mean, how many folks could pull off those fight scenes? The story looks very dark and interesting. Being squeamish of movie gore I am hoping it won't be too rough. Overall, I am looking forward to seeing it, whenever and however I get to. I have the darndest feeling our local theatres won't be showing it :(

What a lot of you aren't seeing to get is the face that Ciel is a demon now and Sebastian is a demon who changes his appearance to suit his master. It was said in the anime and the manga so I think it's perfectly fine the way things were done in this. It can't be Ciel who has the contract because he's a demon and sebastian can be the sebastian he was as ciel's butler because it's not the same master.
Ciel never became a demon in the manga. He only became a demon in Season 2 of the anime (which was never followed up as the anime went back to adapting the manga for season 3).
Even if Ciel were a demon, at the end of Season 2 Sebastian swore to be his butler until he ate Ciels soul (as ordered by Ciel). Therefore, the contract never ended.

I have mixed feelings about this... of course the prospect of seeing a live action Kuroshitsuji is exciting, and the actor playing Seb is hot-- but the setting of the original is so deeply "Victorian England" that it just comes off completely different when done by an all-Asian cast. That and Ciel being played by a woman... I know he was voiced by a woman originally, but she had pulled off a convincing enough boyish voice... but being played by a woman? That's going too far... she absolutely looks like a woman, not a preadolescent boy... [EDIT: just read in the comments that it's not meant to be Ciel... not sure how I feel about that, either...] it doesn't feel like Black Butler anymore... the only thing that would make me watch this is if there were some BL-ish scenes with Sebastian and Grell...

honestly not even that surprised this live action movie is taking a completely different path than the anime or manga. I mean look at the live action Death Note movies, they are pretty far off from anything you see in the anime or manga. Those who are saying that "Ciel" is played by a girl, the character isn't meant to be Ciel, nor a boy. The character is actually a girl disguised as a boy named Shiori/Kiyoharu.I am not sure if this is a redo or a sequel to the anime but I am sure that the character is not Ciel. Check the description if you don't believe me.
