Junichi Suwabe, the Undertaker's voice actor in Japanese, is beyond incredible. I could have never guessed that it was him voicing the Undertaker after seeing Bleach where he voiced Grimmjow. What a fantastic and versatile actor. The dubs are really good for an anime, but I very much prefer the original in Japanese; I'll listen to as much Junichi Suwabe as I can lmao.
Funimation dubs in general are really good. Their version of History's Strongest Disciple actually tops the sub, while One Piece is almost as good as the original (and that says something with a series that long).

all the VA's for the Dub did an amazing job catching the accents, like prince soma is Indian, but the VA for Prince Soma (Chris Ayers) is not Indian, yet he did such a great job imitating the accent, same goes for the uniqueness of each characters voice, take Grell (Daniel Fredrick) for example, Grell has a growl to the words she says, and it honestly fits her so well.
I know the Dub is technically more accurate since they're in Victorian London, but their British accents sound so cursed to me, it feels really weird. The Japanese voices just sound smoother and more fitting to me, but I guess it would be different if I had watched the Dub first. However I do have to say that Undertaker has me weak both in Japanese and in English lmao
Black Butler's probably one of the only animes that I could actually watch dub in. I still think sub is superior but dub is pretty good too not gonna lie.
Usually I do default to the original Japanese when I watch anime, but Black Butler actually has a really good dub for the most imo. Brina Palencia and J. Michael Tatum are both fantastic in the roles of Ciel and Sebastian. To be honest, those two are great in pretty much everything they do.
As an English person I vastly prefer the subs over the dubs. The English accents aren’t horrific, but they’re definitely not good either. They’re unfortunately in that uncanny valley area and always end up throwing me off.
Nina Gilroy I think it’s because the setting takes place in the late 1800’s victorian and they are rich so there going to sound more posh then today’s modern speaking british.

I like both versions, but I'd say Sebastian is the only one who's better dubbed. Tatum just sounds far more refined and charming than Ono does - the voice is deeper and softer and generally fits better. Not to mention the London Bridge bit where Tatum's singing is effortless while Ono struggles a little. Other than that, there's Ash from the filler characters. I like both English and Japanese Ash, but heavily prefer him subbed. Satoshi Hino has an uncanny ability to sound incredibly creepy when he needs to, and alongside Masaya Matsukaze and Tatsuhisa Suzuki, is probably one of the best at playing psychotic roles. English voice actors generally don't do psychotic roles well (afraid to let loose, I guess?) and so far the only one who _can_ do it is Johnny Yong Bosch. Both subtly crazy (Adachi) and batshit insane (Hichigo) seem like a piece of cake for him.

I'm shocked, they found a voice actor with almost the same voice as the japanese version for Ciel 😶 And I liked the dub version of Soma, cause they thought about his nationality and took care even with his accents
Both are good but to be honest I think dub always fits every anime best. The dub always sounds too childish but I am glad that this one did not feel that childish. Even then the sub sounds more serious when the characters talk which is needed because of the atmosphere. Even when the atmosphere is light and friendly the sub makes it work best, I think :)
Some characters like undertaker are better in sub, and some characters like soma are better in dub. It just captures the whole character. Like I prefer dub ciel over sub and sub bassy over dub. That's just how I am

Write down all the words and expressions that u don't know, and try to understand more through the context than every single word they say

The English dub sounds kind of amatuerish the Japanese one sounds way more natural and passionate with emotion. The English dub just kind of feels empty and the accents forced imo it just sounds off which is a shame because I prefer dubbed anime so I don't miss anything going on reading the subtitles. I'm going to have to say the sub is good, but dub is way better. I will admit Grell's voice is pretty bad subbed compared to dubbed. This is the only anime where I've ever preferred dub, actually. The British accents for some characters sound slightly off sometimes, but there's actually technically over 9 different accents, me being only native to one British accent, I shouldn't judge that. I know these people aren't actually British, but they fooled me into thinking they were, especially Sebastian! Dub all the way. :)

I'm going to have to say the sub is good, but dub is way better. I will admit Grell's voice is pretty bad subbed compared to dubbed. This is the only anime where I've ever preferred dub, actually. The British accents for some characters sound slightly off sometimes, but there's actually technically over 9 different accents, me being only native to one British accent, I shouldn't judge that. I know these people aren't actually British, but they fooled me into thinking they were, especially Sebastian! Dub all the way. :)
