One of the most underrated bands of the 80's!!! They're so versatile other great gems of thiers are *Solace Of You, Open Letter To A Landlord.* Another band you should check out is *King's X* the song *Over My Head* is a good start. Love Peace and Happiness Y'all!!
Back in the day over here in the Netherlands (Holland) Living Colour was/is very well known....Love them! Corey Clover is a phenomenal singer, check out his solo album from 1998 "Hymns" (still have it) Great songs on there, "Silence", "One", "April Rain" etc.
This Rock n' Roll band is sooooo underrated....and are sooooooo EXCELLENT!!!! Ridiculously Excellent!!!! the Drummer.....the guitar......the Keyboard ....the lead singer!!!! Ridiculous!!!!
@bflo1000 A n Amazing Guitarist!!!! We need Living Color and Rage Against The Machine to put songs and albums speaking to the issues today!!!! Where are they????
More great Living Colour songs: "Type", "New Jack Theme", "Open Letter to a Landlord", "Elvis is Dead", "Pride", "Middle Man", "Someone Like You", "Solace of You", "This Is the Life". I know I listed a lot songs, but they were a kick ass band.
This is one of my top 5 favorite albums ever! I absolutely loved playing drums over this whole album. I still listen to this "CD". If you haven't checked out Biscuits... check it out. It's an EP released after Time's Up. Its worth it just to hear Glover sing Love and Happiness! .
This was a great band.. So much great music for you to still discover 60’s 70’s 80’s... Spirit, J Geils Band, Joe Jackson, Fine Young Cannibals, Elvis Costello, Leslie West... all over the place .. Alice Cooper who ushered in shock rock..
I saw them on the Vivid tour when they first came over to the UK in 1988 and played the famous Marquee Club in London. Pretty groundbreaking band. Middleman Solace Of You Bi Nothingness Type Leave It Alone
Corey Glover (singer) also played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar in the mid-2000's along side the original Jesus, Ted Neeley. Some of the vids are around the net if you're interested.
The whole band is impeccable, but as someone who's played the drums since '75, Will Calhoun's work behind the kit has always stood out for me. I'll freely admit that I copped a few things from that man. Good choice.
Will Calhoun Is such an amazing drummer of this band is phenomenal I’ve seen them seven times every time was better than the next absolutely incredible band. There are so many songs you can listen to by then I would try desperate people next
their albums were all so great. it's a shame they didn't stay together and keep putting out stuff. also always surprised they didn't seem to influence more people of color into rock.
There's no difference in pronunciation between a word ending in 'our' or 'or' when it is English. In older English records, both spellings are found. There was some standardization that started happening with the creation of specific dictionaries. In the mid 1700s Britain, it was by Samuel Johnson and in the early 1800s in America, it was by Noah Webster. They basically just decided on the rules and obviously followed different paths. Over the years, it's resulted in the US having different spellings which affects a lot of words of the same type. So in countries more aligned with England like Scotland, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, they generally follow the 'British' standard. Canada, probably because they are so close to the US, uses a bit of both standards. Not only will you find that most words that end in 'or' here are spelled with an 'our' in these other countries, but they often use an 's' where we use a 'z'. For example, analyze vs analyse or realize vs realise. They use grey while we use gray. There are many other small variations but you will really only see them if you start having text conversations with people that reside in those other countries which is why I even know what I know in the first place. I used to spend a lot of time on Facebook and 'talked' with people from around the world and out of curiosity looked it up. If you want to learn more, there is an entire Wikipedia page and if this was way more than you wanted to know, I apologize.
Love to watch your reactions to the old 70’s rock songs. You are honest with your opinions. Check out Detroit’s own Rare Earth. I just want to Celebrate, Hey Big Brother, I’m Losing You or the Temptations Get Ready.👍
Never heard this. Excellent! They should have been huge but bad luck.....like many other excellent bands that didn’t rise as high as they should have. The talent was there. Timing just wasn’t right I think
Love Living Colour! Americans that can spell correctly. lol. You should do "Glamour Boys" for a bit of fun from them. Or "Funny Vibe" for a social commentary that is still valid 30 years on. If you like this there is an English band you should try out called Skunk Anansie. th-cam.com/video/nPglNjxVHiM/w-d-xo.html They had a huge hit with this track "Weak" in the 90s.
@@TheDivayenta I saw them when they first played the UK in 1988 in London on the Vivid Tour. They could get the gigs, but rock music certainly doesn't get the same attention in the UK as other genres. I'm sure their colour did probably cause some issues for them as the industry loves to pigeonhole artists, but we still get to enjoy this great music, even if the artists don't get the rewards we think they should
@@ameliacharles2284 Exactly. MTV was racist as hell - watch the David Bowie interview with them where he calls them on it! The door finally opened when they broke down and finally let Michael Jackson on.
@@TheDivayenta MTV was certainly very white when it started. There's a very good argument it was racist, not that the powers that be at the time would admit to it. Now MTV never shows any music, just full of reality shows!

Another excellent song is "Open Letter to a Landlord".

A long time coming, but finally, one of the best songs ever!
This song is awesome, their best by far, IMO. It has a spot on my essential playlist.
30 YEARS OLD AND STILL SOUNDS GOOD.
By the way, the lead singer played a soldier in the movie Platoon.
I’ll add “Nothingness” !!
Colour is the spelling for "Color" across the world, except America ofcourse.
Nice. Played the hell out of this when it came out!

Vernon Reid is a genius, but this rhythm section sets the tone for these guys.
I LOVE this band! I only got to see them live once but man they killed it.

Corey Glover vocals so underrated!
Such passion and musical depth, a hidden gem
To hear his vocals at its finest, listen to this Live on Arsenio. Crazy.
Wil Calhoun is a monster of player. The whole band are. First 2 albums are amazing, but to me the band was never the same after Muzz left.
Why haven't you hit a million subscribers yet? Great music coverage.
Dive into Sunless Saturday by Fishbone
An amazing rabbit hole . Nothingness, Type, This Is The Life, Funny Vibe, Open Letter To A Landlord
It's the groovy jazzy thing going on that makes this song so good. I will probably listen to it again, in full, later

"Colour" is the British spelling of color.
The lead singer is Danny Glovers nephew.
their albums were all so great. it's a shame they didn't stay together and keep putting out stuff. also always surprised they didn't seem to influence more people of color into rock.
And the singer is Danny Glover's nephew
DO Funny vibe please!🎸

Just to add, I've never listened to more than Cult of Personality from Living Colour. I'm going to have to go check out more of them.
I like you have never heard this tune was great an yes I did hear the triplets same on the ride tom's
Postman Living Colour

Elvis is Dead is a killer, Wreck The House🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
listen to Open Letter to a Landlord, great song great lyrics
Do some Alice Cooper - song suggestions - Halo of Flies, Under My Wheels, You Drive Me Nervous, Billion Dollar Babies
Looking for pocket drummer on 'roids? Look for Philip "Fish" Fisher and his main band, Fishbone. "Fight the youth" is a good starting point.
Please react to Open Letter to a Landlord. Another one with a deep message.

Sorry, somehow I forgot you already reacted to Cult of Personality of missed the reaction completely. I’ll look it up after this video.
Try "Type" same band.

It's pronounced the same way you would pronounce color.
Unfortunately, they were a one hit wonder. Nothing else from them.
So you judge artists just by their number of hits then?
Sadly, rock biz was racist back then and they didn’t get the AirPlay or gigs.
