@@CharlesFriend-b5t I’d say hutch is better for the caves since he provides light and sanity, both of which are in issue in caves. Chest is better for the surface (specifically Summer) since he can freeze thermals stones to keep you cool until Autumn.

One thing I noticed that may be of significance is that Metheus seems startled by Chester, which is *incredibly* out of character for them, even in her shadow form, if she’s the one possessing Charlie, she’d have an incredible amount of power, so the fact Chester startled her and made her immediately disappear implies they likely were discussing something secretive or that nobody was meant to hear.. it’s a bit of a stretch but if they (and thus the shadow creatures) are in kahoots with tenebrau, why would they be secretive, also, they could’ve just killed Chester easily.. obviously it’s pure speculation, but it’d be a hell of an interesting twist if Metheus isn’t quite as evil as we’ve assumed this whole time, if tenebrau is the true big bad who turned the ancients into shadows from their overuse of fuel, then she may have a good reason to not be the most loyal servant/looking for a way out, alternatively, if she turned the ancients and herself into shadows, maybe it was a way to escape his influence, ofc knowing klei it’ll be 17 years before our answer but, I like the concept of metheus keeping secrets from tenebrau/maybe not being as heartless as she lets on (almost like her violent/destructive side itself being a mask)

I do not really believe the possession theory, as if cyclum is possessing fuelweaver, why would metheus/charlie destroy her husband? who she was shown giving her life to protect. That is why I myself think that they have struck a deal, charlie gets knowledge on alter, how to summon tenebrau, and what the purposes of the tragic torch and shadow cane are, while metheus and cyclum most likely get a physical body and/or the ancients get brought back
