I know someone who was raped in the military 30 years ago... She never told anyone just kept going and going.. Now the unresolved trauma is manifesting in various ways (hoarding, depression, forgetfulness etc..) Not speaking up can be detrimental mentally, spiritually and emotionally in the long run... You are exactly right. FEAR is the main reason many victims of abuse don’t speak up when the abuse is happening. Fear of being killed. Fear of nobody believing you. Fear of being shamed. Fear of being told it’s all your fault. A woman who was almost killed by serial killer/rapist Ted Bundy stayed silent for many years because of these fears. Eventually she decided to tell her story in form of a book because of the fears of telling people and being judged and blamed. Like people are doing to Andrea and the others right now.

These woman are so indoctrinated they might as well be living on the moon, they have no real sense of reality, possibilities or escape. As a person who was abused reading these comments is sad to see that the abuse is the issue that is not being talked about. Too many people are saying she is a liar and she knew but does that mean her abuse was not valid because she was not strong enough to fight back at that time. People make bad choices everyday so whether she knew about what was going on or not when your being abuse in every aspect until you find the power to fight back many things will happen that will always have some question marks but there is no protocol to how someone being abused should act and how much they should take and how long. For those who comment on how and when a women finds the strength, courage and willpower to leave a Domestic Violence situation with a man whom she has children with; Honestly, unless you have experienced the trauma that it is you really have no room to comment. Domestic Violence is real and its effects are real. Show sympathy or empathy if you can if you can’t then anything else is adding to the trauma the person has experienced already.

It's not the job of a victim or survivor to be an advocate and automatically have all the knowledge and strength to know how to articulate every detail of their experience in order to help heal others. So if she did something that appeared "off" that's because she is human. At the end of the day his allure captured her just the same as the other women who fell under that spell.

As a person who was abused reading these comments is sad to see that the abuse is the issue that is not being talked about. Too many people are saying she is a liar and she knew but does that mean her abuse was not valid because she was not strong enough to fight back at that time. People make bad choices everyday so whether she knew about what was going on or not when your being abuse in every aspect until you find the power to fight back many things will happen that will always have some question marks but there is no protocol to how someone being abused should act and how much they should take and how long. It's especially difficult when children are involved because it does feel like pressure from both sides until you come to the point of enough is enough. For those who comment on how and when a women finds the strength, courage and willpower to leave a Domestic Violence situation with a man whom she has children with; Honestly, unless you have experienced the trauma that it is you really have no room to comment. Domestic Violence is real and its effects are real. Show sympathy or empathy if you can if you can’t then anything else is adding to the trauma the person has experienced already.
These negative, nasty, and judgmental comments makes it so easy to understand why so many women stay silent. Makes me feel even more for Drea, it's like she gets abused all over when she tells her story.

That lady speaks alot of truth. I grew up in a house that was abusive, and later seeked damaged men, thinking it was right way to have a relationship. I wasted some time, and money, on these types of people. Luckily now, with a lot of work, I got healed from all that damage. There is a huge light at the end of that long, narrow tunnel! 🙏

It's not the job of a victim or survivor to be an advocate and automatically have all the knowledge and strength to know how to articulate every detail of their experience in order to help heal others. So if she did something that appeared "off" that's because she is human. At the end of the day his allure captured her just the same as the other women who fell under that spell.
