I know this is a very tough topic to discuss, because there are people who are truly in fear for their life from domestic violence. This women playing a role and using peoples pain, who truly are and have been victims of their accuser. I don't trust nothing she says. Her motives seem very scketchy to me...
Cynthia McKinney I'm less concerned about her motives for telling her story and more concerned about accuracy. Shes not the only person to describe him this way. There's no right way to grieve or react when telling a story. I just dont have a reason to think shes lying. I do have several reasons to believe he's a predator in more ways than one.

I got out of a mental prison for almost 10 years. The pain follows after for years, when you walk into a quiet house/apt, when you get into an disagreement you automatically feel you may need to battle, your defenses and guard are forever heightened. I applaud her for putting her feelings aside to be the voice the world needs to hear. I am not ashamed I too survived...
I grew up in domestic violence and child abuse. Seeing my mother get away from a crazy man was weight off my little heart, I eventually remained behind after an adduction from my father and uncle. Seeing my mother live was more important to me, than living without her, I endured more beatings- but GOD kept me. Being a child of the KING, is real story for later. I had a relationship later in life where physical abuse was involved and I finally had to have this young man arrested. I never married or beat a woman, my story is not that different, but I do know- leaving and ending a domestic violence relationship is a must. Over the years, I have thrown fundraisers at our home in AZ to benefit different woman’s charities. My mother at 83 years old is still alive and living her life like us Golden..... and so am I. I sometimes meditate on their outcome, If hadn't custody of them. I'm confident though I left without physical scars. Many don't believe me either because he was and is Soo likeable that it's blinding. I thank God that be I listen to others testimony help gear my life in a safer way. It's rough but God will guide when I seek What He sees as good for my sons and I.

Wow. I am this woman. I contemplated suicide in my darkest time from abuse, and it took my 5 year old asking Daddy, Why were you so mean to Mommy last night?" It CLICKED! I filed a restraining order and divorce the next day. This woman is so beautiful and she speaks the absolute truth from abuse. 💞
Suicide is the cowardly way out. Its something that should have never been considered. Especially, being a mother. If it took a child questioning a man for you to realize you needed to leave after all the abuse he inflicted upon speaks volumes. You are weak for not leaving sooner. He could have hurt his own son for questioning him on that topic. I know you want to be praised for leaving thats why you posted it. I am here to advise you to grow a spine and never allow your son to be placed in another situation like that ever again.
Nothing about suicide is cowardly. In fact, the human soul’s will is TO LIVE and to object to that is sacred. People who fall victim to suicide are the strongest people. They deserve their dignity, even in the afterlife.

Drea stayed because she grew up seeing a dysfunctional marriage and she also wanted her kids to have their father. A battered woman that finally gathers the courage to leave typically will tell their story out loud to relieve the fact that they've bottled it up and/or hid it for so long. Her tears do not seem fake. She smiles sometimes because she is not bitter about it. She knows it's gonna help give someone the strength to leave their abusive relationship. Women that stay in abusive relationships (abuse comes in various forms) for no longer than 10 years are not weak, they just love harder than the average. Once the love is gone, they finally leave the relationship. Women that stay longer than 10 years typically have deeper issues. Her book might help those women.
@Lashunda Canady youve obviously never experienced an abusive relationship, good for you👍 as a child who grew up in an abusive home... I know why ppl stay. My mom stayed for 20 years even when my dad put a kife to her stomach and was choking her against the wall with me hugging her by the stomach just under the knife and all my brothers and sisters holding on to my mom begging my dad not to kill her. You have no idea what an abusive person does to their victim or you wouldnt say "why didnt she leave". The level of abuse is so profound that the victim is reduced to feeling and thinking they have no way out especially becouse most abusers will run off your friends AND your family so you have no one left to run to for help. Youd think that couldnt happen but i saw it, i LIVED it. My mom finally gathered the courage and strength to leave and hide us away in another city and she was VERY strong to endure all she did and STILL find a way to take us away from there. I was in a relationship that turned scary and abusive. He was really good to me at times but I ignored some really bad red flags. There was sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and even threatened to kill me... and the switch happens and it gets scary. I am boycotting R Kelly's music. I have peace in my heart now because God delivered me from it. I have a son so I can forgive/understand men now. My son is what makes me choose a man who will be good to me. How I get treated will determine how he treats someone. This woman sounds really strong. I like the understanding she has and her strength. She is strong. She is speaking out so more women don't go through it. It happens even to smart beautiful women. She has peace and it's her bright day after the storm! SimplyinGeorgia that part reminded me of my ex so much....he would do things like that. He would call me when I was riding the bus and say "who sitting next to you on the bus...is it a man " and he would flip out. Things like that happened sooo much.

It still trips me out that people think she is lying about RKelly! Well are everyone else also lying about his possessive, abusive behaviors? Unbelievable! Patrick Finley, some of it has never made it to court due to pay offs;however there has been several books and stories told that gives evidence. I'm amazed he hasn't been tried and convicted though.
@Patrick Finley Well the book that I read was not written by a woman that had allegations against him, it was written years ago. I believe that the females want to be with him due to who he is but then he shows that dark side once he pulls them into his world.
R Kelly has made some beautiful music, but I believe her. It takes a while to get out of a situation like that. You have to be very careful and plan your escape. If you are not careful you may leave, but in a body bag. I'm glad she made it out alive. It's not always about someone wanting money, it isn't. Sometimes It's more about the abuser's power and control.

Absolutely! I believe her. I am a survivor. My ex was a very nice around other people, but at home behind closed doors he was a totally different person. He had everyone believing that I was the "bad" person.
@Patrick Finley Hey there Patrick. Ten years I was in that relationship. I was threatened with my life if I tried to leave. This man would put a .357 magnum up to my head and told me how he would blow my head off If I tried to leave. So I had to come up with a plan, and I was terrified. I started saving money. I Informed the company I was working for about what was going on in my marriage. They were very supportive and willing to help me. They were amazing. We decided that if my husband should call, or come there everyone knew to tell him that I'd quit. One morning when he left for work, and after I made sure he was at work (an hours drive away from where we lived) I left him. I backed up a U haul to my front door, packed all that I could in a hurry and left. I found another place to live. When he called the company that I worked for they told him that I didn't work there any longer. So if he had showed up at my job which he did, he wouldn't have seen me nor my car. That's why I stayed and that's how I got out and STAYED OUT!

Even after that he still abused me, the last time they were called out it was explained that if the came out again that we both would go to jail. Why would I have to go to jail when I was the one being abused? After that I was threatened by his family. Like I mentioned earlier in front of others he was the perfect gentleman. Everyone believed him. With his charming personality no one ever thought he would abuse his wife. He wouldn't have come into my work place and acted a fool, that would've ruined his reputation. It was only after we were behind closed doors is when his personality changed. There is so much more to my story. What I shared with you was just a little bit of what happened. Still I say to anyone who is being abused please plan your escape. Don't tell your abuser that you are leaving....JUST LEAVE. It wasn't easy, but I did it.

Girl, I feel you, I feel you so much! When she broke down crying, I started crying too. I really applaud her for leaving because of herself but also because of her daughter. I was in her daughter's position, except my mother was weak and never left. It really destroyed me. I got out of a mental prison for almost 10 years. The pain follows after for years, when you walk into a quiet house/apt, when you get into an disagreement you automatically feel you may need to battle, your defenses and guard are forever heightened. I applaud her for putting her feelings aside to be the voice the world needs to hear. I am not ashamed I too survived...
I grew up in domestic violence and child abuse. Seeing my mother get away from a crazy man was weight off my little heart, I eventually remained behind after an adduction from my father and uncle. Seeing my mother live was more important to me, than living without her, I endured more beatings- but GOD kept me. Being a child of the KING, is real story for later. I had a relationship later in life where physical abuse was involved and I finally had to have this young man arrested. I never married or beat a woman, my story is not that different, but I do know- leaving and ending a domestic violence relationship is a must. Over the years, I have thrown fundraisers at our home in AZ to benefit different woman’s charities. My mother at 83 years old is still alive and living her life like us Golden..... and so am I. Thank you Drea for sharing your story.

Drea stayed because she grew up seeing a dysfunctional marriage and she also wanted her kids to have their father. A battered woman that finally gathers the courage to leave typically will tell their story out loud to relieve the fact that they've bottled it up and/or hid it for so long. Her tears do not seem fake. She smiles sometimes because she is not bitter about it. She knows it's gonna help give someone the strength to leave their abusive relationship. Women that stay in abusive relationships (abuse comes in various forms) for no longer than 10 years are not weak, they just love harder than the average. Once the love is gone, they finally leave the relationship. Women that stay longer than 10 years typically have deeper issues. Her book might help those women.

My mom stayed for 20 years even when my dad put a kife to her stomach and was choking her against the wall with me hugging her by the stomach just under the knife and all my brothers and sisters holding on to my mom begging my dad not to kill her. You have no idea what an abusive person does to their victim or you wouldnt say "why didnt she leave". The level of abuse is so profound that the victim is reduced to feeling and thinking they have no way out especially becouse most abusers will run off your friends AND your family so you have no one left to run to for help. Youd think that couldnt happen but i saw it, i LIVED it. I was in a relationship that turned scary and abusive. He was really good to me at times but I ignored some really bad red flags. There was sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and even threatened to kill me... and the switch happens and it gets scary. I am boycotting R Kelly's music. I have peace in my heart now because God delivered me from it. I have a son so I can forgive/understand men now. My son is what makes me choose a man who will be good to me. How I get treated will determine how he treats someone. This woman sounds really strong. I like the understanding she has and her strength. She is strong. She is speaking out so more women don't go through it. It happens even to smart beautiful women. She has peace and it's her bright day after the storm! I am not so outspoken but if I ever encounter a woman or a girl going through anything like this I can talk to them about it.

It still trips me out that people think she is lying about RKelly! Well are everyone else also lying about his possessive, abusive behaviors? Unbelievable! Some people are so blinded by a person's celebrity persona to see the truth. I was a fan also, but there's been too much evidence showing that he is definitely abusive, controlling and insane.

Patrick Finley, some of it has never made it to court due to pay offs;however there has been several books and stories told that gives evidence. I'm amazed he hasn't been tried and convicted though.
@Patrick Finley Well the book that I read was not written by a woman that had allegations against him, it was written years ago. I believe that the females want to be with him due to who he is but then he shows that dark side once he pulls them into his world.

R Kelly has made some beautiful music, but I believe her. It takes a while to get out of a situation like that. You have to be very careful and plan your escape. If you are not careful you may leave, but in a body bag. I'm glad she made it out alive. It's not always about someone wanting money, it isn't. Sometimes It's more about the abuser's power and control.

I have read most of the comments, only someone who has witnessed or experienced domestic abuse physical or emotional, an even mentally abuse would understand where she is coming from bc we as the public see them as Icon entertainer, when in fact they live a different life off camera an off stage so really they are living a double life. Absolutely! I believe her. I am a survivor. My ex was a very nice around other people, but at home behind closed doors he was a totally different person. He had everyone believing that I was the "bad" person.
I haven't experienced physical abuse, but I still feel & know where she's coming from. She's the genuine article!
@Patrick Finley Hey there Patrick. Ten years I was in that relationship. I was threatened with my life if I tried to leave. This man would put a .357 magnum up to my head and told me how he would blow my head off If I tried to leave. So I had to come up with a plan, and I was terrified. I started saving money. I Informed the company I was working for about what was going on in my marriage. They were very supportive and willing to help me. They were amazing. We decided that if my husband should call, or come there everyone knew to tell him that I'd quit. One morning when he left for work, and after I made sure he was at work (an hours drive away from where we lived) I left him. I backed up a U haul to my front door, packed all that I could in a hurry and left. I found another place to live. When he called the company that I worked for they told him that I didn't work there any longer. So if he had showed up at my job which he did, he wouldn't have seen me nor my car. That's why I stayed and that's how I got out and STAYED OUT!
@Patrick Finley Authorities were called to my home several times. Even after that he still abused me, the last time they were called out it was explained that if the came out again that we both would go to jail. Why would I have to go to jail when I was the one being abused? After that I was threatened by his family. Like I mentioned earlier in front of others he was the perfect gentleman. Everyone believed him. With his charming personality no one ever thought he would abuse his wife. He wouldn't have come into my work place and acted a fool, that would've ruined his reputation. It was only after we were behind closed doors is when his personality changed. There is so much more to my story. What I shared with you was just a little bit of what happened. Still I say to anyone who is being abused please plan your escape. Don't tell your abuser that you are leaving....JUST LEAVE. It wasn't easy, but I did it.

Girl, I feel you, I feel you so much! When she broke down crying, I started crying too. I really applaud her for leaving because of herself but also because of her daughter. I was in her daughter's position, except my mother was weak and never left. It really destroyed me. Please, whoever is reading this, if you're in an abusive relationship like this, leave, if not for yourself, then at least for your children.

And it put up such a show and smile for others. You can have the perfect look on the outside and be a raging demon in the inside.... I've been through that before and got the hell out!
