13 MOVIE MANSIONS That Actually Exist

The largest most grand mansion left out was the Biltmore estate in Asheville NC, home of Richey Rich and Being there.
I thought the same thing it was in Hannibal as well. I live in Asheville and work at the biltmore and was sad that it wasn’t in this video:(
Great call. Biltmore is after all our nations largest home with a past that far exceeds most of the homes mentioned here.
Home alone is one of my favourite movies so imagine my excitement when I arrived in Winnetka, Illinois, as an Au-pair, to find out I was merely a couple of blocks from the McCallister house!!
John Hughes set most of his movies up in those north suburbs.
Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was Royal Roads military college and is still used as a school
The Villa Trapp is now permanently closed. I was intrigued when you said to check the reviews.
It was run quite badly, and the owners just wanted to make as much money as they could while doing as little as they could with upkeep and maintenance...
My favorite would be the Highland Park, Illinois Ferris Bueller Home. Just seeing it here brings back great memories and made me feel younger. Thanks. M. Fairchild
The Cullen house is really cool looking.
It has aged well too - wouldn't have expected it was built back in 2001
new port rhode island . THE BREAKERS where The Great Gatsby was filmed
Gone with the wind . Is my favourite film . It is the only film that won all titles at the Oscar s . Also it was the first time a black women won an Oscar. What an amazing actress she was ❤❤
I like the Barrett House in New Ipswich, NH ( a house museum) that was used for the movie adaptation of "The Europeans" by Henry James. Unfortunately the William O. Jenkins mansion (also owned by J. Paul Getty) in Los Angeles was torn down. This was Norma Desmond's house in Sunset Boulevard.
That makes me sad, LA is really bad about razing historic buildings.
I believe most of the interior scenes of the von trapp mansion in sound of music were shot on sound stages in Hollywood. Exterior shots were in Austria tho
I believe the front of the film Von Trapp house was one building, and the back was a different building.
The backdrop shown for GWTW is Tara, the ’O’Hara’ home.
God, I love the “Cullen” house!
I was hoping youd feature a home I saw in 2 movies-A movie called Body Double (80s) and the Charlie’s Angels movie (90s) it’s a completely round home that it kinda looks like it’s held up by tree logs, it’s in Los Angeles, CA! It looks really cool almost flying saucer like!
There was no Charlie’s Angels movie that came out in the 90s
Seeing as how you have also included homes, featured in television series, It is I think a serious omission, Not to venture across the Atlantic again, more to the United Kingdom where there are two iconic examples of fictitious family homes. The first is of course, "DOWNTON ABBEY", the family seat of the Aristocratic "Crawley's". Supposedly set in North Yorkshire, the "Abbey", is actually "Highclere Castle", much further south in Buckinghamshire, home to the "Earls of Caernarvon". The second candidate for inclusion is perhaps the even more grandiose and Imposing, " Castle Howard" which actually is in North Yorkshire and appeared as "Brideshead" in the series of the same name. Adapted from the novel by Evelyn Waugh", it tells the arresting story of the "Flyte" family, wealthy, aristocratic, yet faced with decline in relevance and fortune.. Both "homes" are seriously worthy of inclusion in your list...!!
Thanks. We may have to do one strictly on movie castles.
Don't forget the houses that were used in all the pride and prejudice movies
Loved them all! Thanks very much for the tour!
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!
Castle Hill on the Crane Estate should be number 1. Or Aldrich Mansion, Rhode Island "Met Joe Black"
The house that was in home with the wind still beautiful 😊
I absolutely love the Rosenheim mansion. I just wished the viewer could have seen more of the house on the American horror series
I'd Love To See The House Cher (Alicia Silverstone)Had In Clueless That House Was Amazing
Yes!!
The address for mrs doubtfire is the same address sally fields tells mrs doubtfire
Such a good video
#5 - Cherry Tree In
We get to see from Phil's POV as he looks onto the street and the neighbor's houses from the front porch. This POV is nearly identical to Alicia Florrick's in an episode of The Good Wife, set in Chicagoland.
the wolf of wall street, i think is my favorite, but they are all nice
Expected to see the mansion from THE BEVERLY HILL BILLIES. Many movies shot there thoughtout the years.
Two films you missed where the houses are still there are “ Double Indemnity” & “ Field of Dreams”
Despite the fact that this home was a ranch style I think that the Sam Rothstein house from Casino should be on a list somewhere. Surely that was a real home.. maybe in Palm Beach?
The Beverly Hillbillies Mansion is real
Twelve Oaks!
I loved American horror story so much and I did not know this house was real!!!
❤❤ 4 and 11 are the best
The McAllister house or known as the home alone , that home is my favorite home, I always saw myself owning that house some day if I ever won the lottery ,I would totally buy that place in a heart beat. It is so beautiful.😊😊
That's a lot of maintenance, and huge utility bills, property tax.
No Clueless mansion? I'm totally buggin'
Perhaps there will be need to be a part 2?
I wish you had mentioned docs mansion from back to the future.
We actually featured that one on our Los Angeles video. Maybe we’ll do a pt 2 and re-feature it as Docs mansion. Thanks.
who is voice narrator?
#11 is incorrect. The white house with columns was, as someone else pointed out, perhaps the inspiration for movie's art direction Tara, but the movie "Tara" was not a real house--it was always just a set. The doorway that was used in the "arriving at the bar-b-que scene was the entrance door of Selznick studios, the rest was filled in (an early special effect.)
th-cam.com/video/3tQcakoAJrY/w-d-xo.html
The artwork for the arrival scene was rushed, and is incomplete. In the shot of the carriages going down the drive the shadows from the trees don't alter the color, as they would have in real life.
Marget Mitchell once joked she was going to start a group called the "Southerner's who grandpappy's didn't grow up in big white houses with columns" and said she "rolled on the floor, screaming with laughter" at the site of the design drawings for Twelve Oaks.
Scream in 1996- Stu ‘s house
never have i ever seen any of these movies
You don't watch American movies?
12 Oaks
Regina George house was the twitches house too
"Actually"
True lies in Newport Rhode Island?
Stop tryin too make fetch happen.. it’s still not gonna happen.. 😊
I like it. I remember it being used a bit years ago
Quit trying to make “fetch” happen! Lol
#11 Thanks for the virtue signaling.
