I was adopted. at around age 6, i found out my parents were not my real parents. and that my real grandma wanted custody of me and my sister. my mom fought in court for us, to keep us. she was giving so much money to the lawyers, and one day, she just gave up and said, i'm throwing in the towel. but little did she know, that i had chosen her to be my mom, and that bond , no one can ever break. my real parents abandoned me, but God placed me with my soulmate. and this woman, is not only my mother for life, but my soulmate. so in court, i let my voice be heard and i had everyone in court crying, tears in their eyes. mom didn't have to fight for me, i fought for myself, my well-being, my love for her. and she's 81 years old now, and i'm the one taking care of her now, because she took care of me all my life. mother is a powerful force. and so is God.

Good for your mom. The fact your mom is single most likely has nothing to do with her being a blessing to you. The fact she's a good person, a responsible mother who's mature enough to handle the responsibility and has the love to make a good life for her child, probably does. :)

I just feel from the start it would have been better for all involved to work together without fighting and unnecessary spending, etc. Most of all I'm glad that the boy wasn't traumatized through any of it.
I did think about how when a child has to switch back and forth to home's (as a long term very Dear friend that spent 20 year in te Army, away from home most of time told me that it makes it difficult for someone moving all the time to learn to settle down. So when my son's Father fought for every other 7 day's I fought for different. Not to mention it was affecting his grades terribly. That alone made me fight even harder for his call around future! His father actually had the principal team up with them to fight unfairly! Which before it was all over with list his job. With that part of my fight, I fought not just for my child. I fought for mine plus those that went to school with him and those to follow. Other parents took their children from that school until I fought to change that. Most of those that left came back once he was gone. While the fight was on though, none of those other parents stood by me. It hurt a bit, but I had more important agendas to achieve.
"You never know how strong you really are until you have to be."
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading.
As for his father using a marriage to his advantage was a crock if you ask me. He and his new wife had no children together. It definitely bothered me that I knew when he was there, it was more with his new bride than with his father. What was the point really? In fact before me he had his 1st wife and 2 kids. When we had the children, it was more like I had his children, not him. His 1st ex wife grew to really trust, appreciate and respect me. She knew I put her children before myself, etc. Enough when one of them had injured themselves, bicycle accident and couldn't go to school, and she still had to work she'd call me to go to her home to care for that child. She was a school teacher. Without my knowledge she'd wrote our school board a letter saying she knew I'd be beneficial to be a substitute teacher. She felt qualified in saying so not just because she was a teacher but that I also cared for children part time. Then she made a copy of letter and sent both letters out, 1 came to me. That was the biggest, best compliment I received ever! It actually teared me up. I still have that letter. He fought cancer, she didn't make it. She held on until they finished high school + a little longer. I loved her, she was a good person. It took her about a year at the beginning to come around to me. At time's we'd have long phone conversations, no special reasons. And if I needed her to back me with her children because their father wouldn't with disciplining them, she had my back. If either of her children brought important conversation to me for advice. I always told them what I felt, thought but always encouraged them to still talk to their Mom because we may not have the same opinions. I'd also call her with such important conversations but ask not to let them know I'd called her about them. If we'd break that trust we both may lose that trust. I'd asked her to conveniently bring up such subject her children and I would discuss in they she'd noticed the this and that's. We made a good team for her 2 children. Until they moved out of state. Their father and I would go to them one weekend a month. Of course he tapered that off to part Holiday vacations and some time of the summer. By then they were older, wanted more time with their friends. I thought it was sad really, I spent more time with them than he did. When they moved their Dad wanted to fight. I was against it. And the lawyer he took us to basically told him the same thing's I did. "For the kids sake, and their Mom I was glad." I never told his 1st wife how he wanted to fight her. They didn't deserve that.
Having never personally lived with my own Dad. Didn't even know him until I was 6 year's old. Eventually went to his home to visit, his wife resented me. She was hateful. My visits there didn't last. And if they insisted I go visit their if my Mom didn't come with me, it wasn't happening. As I got older I made an agreement with my Dad: He and could visit anytime as long it was just he and I but not there. Only but a few time's did he take advantage of that offer. He never financially supported me nor otherwise really. Except showed up for my only wedding, and the birth of my son. And the burial of my Mother. He had my love for the fact he helped in giving me life. And what I knew about him came from my Aunt, his twin sister. Whom I spent lot's of time with! And his parents. People can be strange.

Why do you have to use the phrase "birth mother" to describe his mother? That's so weird. She's his mother. If she was his foster mother fighting for custody, I'd understand the use of the phrase "foster mother". In this case, that distinction just seemed redundant.

The is the traditionel way of describing how to raise children. Sorry. Biologically a child needs a group. The mother is a part of the group and gets the support from them. So please stop telling this mother idealisation. I am a mother of two daughters, but I have to take care about me also. And I always shared the responability with the father or friends. 24/7 is completly unhealthy.

My folks were military and not close! If I hadn't still had a set of grandparents they wouldn't have had ANY that were related to them! A neighbor couple CHOSE to love them and b grandparents to them! When they were 4 and 7- I met an amazing man and we raised each other's kids- they weren't "mine and yours" they were OURS- PERIOD!!!!!! My inlaws had 4 grandchildren- our 3 and my stepdaughter younger half sister- she wasn't blood related to ANY of us except her half sister but they were ONLY grandparents she ever had!!!!!! They were like that from the days she was born! All the kids are now adults and I am SO blessed to have SO many people who loved ALL of the kids! It TRULY takes a village

You can teach that baby about his culture without him been taken away from his birth mother. That's ridiculous an the fact that people have to spend thousands of dollars for is pathetic. @@brendalittlejohn8730 Wrong. Plenty of mothers don't fight for their kids, or care about them one single bit.
My mother? Well, I told her when I was like 8 or 9 that my stepfather was abusing me, and she said 'Oh you must be making that up'. He continued abusing me, so I told her I wanted to go and live with my Dad, and she said 'okay', and literally dropped me off on his back steps.
Shortly after that, her, my brother, and my stepfather moved to another state, and I never really saw them again.
Not all mothers fight for their kids.
And not only mothers fight for their kids. A male friend of mine accidentally got his girlfriend pregant. She wanted an abortion, he wanted the baby. She eventually said that if he wanted the baby so much, she would go through with the pregnancy, but, the second it was born, it was 100 percent his responsibility, and she never wanted anything to do with the baby.
He had to sign a thing promising he would never contact her, again, ever, and never tell the baby the mother's name, so, thah when the baby was grown up, he could never find her.
So that's what they did. She gave birth, handed the baby - a boy - over to him, and that was that. That baby boy is now somewhere in his mid-twenties, and is fine with never having know his mother.

If you make the choice to breed, it is 100 percent your responsibility, and yours alone. Don't pawn your responsibilities off on others. That's so wrong, and so totally unethical.
I can't stand kids and babies. Never wanted any. Having one would be horrible for me, just horrifying. I wouldn't have it. No way. But if others feel differently and want to have a baby, fine, that's there choice, but it's also their responsibility. Not the villages, not mine.

    • @nathaliewilson1817
      @nathaliewilson1817 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

While I am black and concur that his biological mom deserved custody of her son Noah, his infidelity is not a reason to deny him a shared custody with the child. The fact that he initially denied the child as his son still does not deny him the right to shared custody. The first point on the infidelity....both the biological mother and father of Noah are CHEATERS. And even if his father is a superficial jerk (regardless of the exterior of charity work and him being a "good father" BS), that doesn't mean that the child should not get the opportunity to know his sisters and his stepmother and by extension his superficial father that appears as a good father on "paper" because his wife props him up and loves all 3 of his children to include the illegitimate one when he doesn't. If he loved both his daughters he would be out sticking his male member in other women instead of being home with his family spending time with them. Time spend partying like he is single and has no children paints a completely different picture....But the wife/stepmother should not be punished and neither should the three children. I am glad Noah's birth mother decided to put Noah first as opposed to hold a grudge that would have ended up hurting her son. Good on both women. The tears of relief in that stepmother's eyes show how much she loves Noah....where is the father's love and affection for Noah other than treating him as a progeny for when his basket ball days are over and he wants to continue living his life through his son?

He should get to say today is my dad etc. I just think as a mum btw that child has been hers from day one she should make every decision.

@@lisamarina6076 He is NOT a father but a "biological sperm donor". He is not there for his legitimate children (both his daughters) nor his illegitimate child (son). If you read my initial comment, you will see that I said that his biological mother deserved custody. And while she deserved custody, I do not believe his father should be cut out of his life. As far as the decisions on Noah's life goes, while his mother that he lives with should be the main decision maker, in life changing situations, I believe his father and step-mother should contribute IF they have stepped up to be parents in his life. His father has not by the end of the film....but his step-mother cares for him by the small snippets that the movie have shown even though limited.

I will always remember what it felt like the first time my son moved inside me. I was happy the entire nine months and I loved how it felt. My life changed completely when he was born and became the most important thing in my life. Children are a part of their mother.

Lol... I just wanted to say that I agree with you... Nicole put herself in a crazy position in the first place... Don't get me wrong, she was on birth control, so she was being responsible when it came to that...
My heart honestly breaks for both women, bc he played them both...
      He's a scumbag!!!
I'm not mad at the wife either, bc her sorry butt husband, cheated on her & we all know that wasn't the first time either...
But the wife stepped up & even though it was a huge, hard pill to swallow, she came around & was good with Noah!!!!
A lot of women wouldn't have done that...
Bc it's a constant reminder that their husband cheated on them & now has a child & or children with these other women...
I'm proud of Nicole, stepping up & handling her business as a Mother, woman, ect...
She wasn't trying to get a "meal ticket" from Ty, she actually started having true feelings for him & of course she wanted a relationship with him... Why idk, bc he's not a "real man"...
      He's a teenager in a mans body...
Playing with both of their emotions, hearts, ect...
      So I SALUTE both women!!!
I swear, I can't stand men like this...
I can't stand the fact that they play with these women head, hearts, ect...
& Nicole was honest with him, about him being the father & DNA PROVED that he indeed was the father!!!!
Ohhh... That's another thing I can't stand about men....
Just bc their out running in these streets, with this woman, that woman, ect...
doesn't mean that every woman you've been with is doing the same thing as you, with other men... SMH!!!!!
I'm just being honest with you!!!!!!

So it depends which brain the individual put or store her knowledge. One day, my helper shared her hardship with me and I shared this wisdom with her. We both had a very good laugh when she learned the meaning of this wisdom. She told me that. When she used the head without the brain. She had great feeling. No need to think at the moment. Later, she is paying the price for using the no brain head. So, I used this wisdom to the ladies that complained of having hardships.

I will never understand how a father would ever believe that taking a child away from his mother is in the child's best interest. I will also never understand how saying that his race takes part in the decision while ignoring the fact that he is both black and white. That means he has 2 cultures to learn; not just one. You can't just ignore his whiteness and give him to his black father because he doesn't look white so that he doesn't know or learn who he is as a whole person.

Jesus christ, this hits so close to home!
I have eight children, five of them biological.
I won full and soul custody of my three oldest.
The story is too long to tell.
But I have never kept any of my children away from their mothers.
Their mothers, sometimes made the choice to stay away, but my door was always open to them.
I have been on both sides of this issue.
My twin girls turned 18 in December, they are just now understanding what happened when they were six years old.
If people really held the children's interest at heart, didn't make this about themselves, the children would not have to suffer these indignities.
there is no Legacy I could leave that is more important than my children.
this movie is powerful because of the subject matter.
Please, just make your children more important than you.
This way, you can't really go wrong.

Kudos to Nicole's father. With a Dad like that, she could weather any storm.
    Kudos to Bev.
Sad that it was such a legal trauma, and sad that Tye is a bit hen-pecked, and egotistical.
All's well that ends well. Thanks for the well made character portrayals, true stories are my favorites.
    Be blessed.

Ya, excellent advice, except when they lie & say they're "divorcing their wife".
      Ha. Ha. Ha.
And you fall for that, right into love with him.

@@tulayamalavenapi4028 Tell him to call after he gets the papers. If he is lying to you and you're in love you already slipped up.

The lawyer was cuter. Lol Lots of chemistry from those two from the beginning. He was a good lawyer and friend like person. He really stuck to his job and for free. We have to give Peter his props.
