I play this song while doing yard work. I took a break came on the porch, started dancing. Daughter thought i was nuts, she asked what are you listening to, i let her listen than she started dancing and wouldn't give my phone back.
I haven't heard this song in nearly 30 years. Sirius XM 80s on 8 plays it over the weekend and it has been an earworm ever since. Talk about unlocking memories!
I woke up this morning singing this song for no reason I hadn't heard it in many many years so I had to look it up & finally found this original video it made me smile & made me miss the 80's.
DINOFEB66 DiTO never forgot it And thank you to the people who find and show them As I have a couple of hundred VHS tapes and it’s on one of them But which one? Rapt to just hear it again And I couldn’t ever find a friend who liked it Made it that bit more special
This played on the radio constantly during my summer in Germany, in 1987, where I was on a two month adventure. It is such a reminder of one of the happiest times ever...I can't forget it :-)
This song just popped into my head after many years. What a great memory! I used to work with a guy that every time I saw him I would sing this song to him, which drove him insane. His name was Jason Holiday. Good times. Good times.
I first heard about Alf Klimek when I listened to the Spliff radio show and was very impressed by his singing and the music of Spliff. Alf Klimek and his siblings (twins), Jayney (vocals) and Johnny (bass) had made some recordings with the drummer Armin Rühl (Herbert Grönemeyer) in Berlin in the 80s. At that time the musicians of Herbert Grönemeyer still had bands like ,, Starboyz ,, ,,Die Wilde 13,, etc. in the vicinity of Heidelberg, which were very well known for their concerts and spontaneous parties. The three Klimek siblings were often there from Berlin to visit the sessions and it was always fun when they were there. I often worked as a backliner for the Starboyz and Wilde 13, when we heard that the Klimeks were coming, we always said "oh dear people, the Australians are coming" because the Klimeks were always very nice, funny, never boring and always full of urge to make music. I still have very great memories with these three, they are truly very great and lovely people. Greetings from Heidelberg
Omg! This has such a strong tie to such a tumultuous time in my childhood. Memories of lost youth. Listening to this on repeat and wishing to be anywhere else.
I was working out at the ProClub and this fun 80's memory played and I had to download it. What a great song. Makes me want to sail away back to the 80's!
Another holiday Well, you're walking straight ahead But you're looking to your right Got your eyes down low But you hold your head high A hola-hola-ho and a hola-hola-hey Another holiday Beach, the sun and sand dunes Takes me far away Distant lands are not so far away I don't know why we don't go Take my hands I'll show you the way Pack your bags and sail away Well, I hate my job And I got no car And my aching feet Won't take me that far A hola-hola-ho and a hola-hola-hey Another holiday Kiss me in the moonlight Listen to the waves Distant lands are not so far away I don't know why we don't go Take my hands I'll show you the way Pack your bags and sail away A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo Another holiday Distant lands are not so far away I don't know why we don't go Take my hands I'll show you the way Pack your bags and sail away Distant lands are not so far away I don't know why we don't go Take my hands I'll show you the way pack your bags and sail away. Yeah yes yeahs maps
I was stationed in Newport, R.I. and my roomate at that time had a very cool assortment of cds and tapes of bands i had NEVER heard of. This was one of the best that have a ton of memories 30+ years later here i am adding it to Alexa. Some songs never grow old :)
There was a german band called Alphaville and then there was their friends and they were refered to as "The Other Ones", so thats how these guys got their name. Also Janey Klimek has songwriting connections with Marian Gold the lead singer from Alphaville. And yea, this is a perfect pop song. It instantaneously worms its way into your mind the minute you here it. I played it to my daughter for the first time yesterday and she was humming it all day. Im shocked someone hasn't covered it because its relatively unknown to this generation.
Actually it HAS been covered. Search TH-cam for "holiday nick hohepa" He did an acoustic version but guess who he brought in for the other vocals…25+ years after the original.
Dieses Lied ist für mich stark mit einer ganz besonderen Zeit in meinem Leben im Jahr 1987 verbunden. (I remember this song from 1987. A very special time period of my life.)
I remember this song when it made it to the US clubs back in the 80's. Forgot about it like most do. Heard it last week as bump music on a talk radio show and now can't get the damn song out of my head!!!!!!! Not a bad thing!!!! :)
One of my sisters stayed with an uncle down in Florida for a few weeks during the summer of '87. Since we were out in the country we didn't have cable so she brought back a video of MTV's 'Top 100'. This video was on it and my 9 year old mind loved the song and it was a very cool video using the then fledgling computer animation/graphics. It was such a different time, better than today IMHO.
I just had this song Pop in my head out of the blue. Hadn’t thought about in years. Loved the 80’s!!! Another rarity was a band called Roman Holiday. Great new wave throw back to the 50’s doo-wop.
Tidbits of this song have circulated in the back of my brain for 30-35 years😆 Must have been in 2nd or 3rd grade I think? The school bus driver always had the hit music radio station playing on the morning ride and I remember this one! Finally realized you could hum tunes into your smartphone and it will identify the song...and here I am!🥲
I've been searching for years for this song as I heard it once in the 80's & fell in love with it but couldn't remember who did the song. Such a great song!!
"We are what we are" was the lead hit, then this gem followed with all its wonderful infectious hooks! Love Janey Klimek's voice. She has been asked to sing on many tracks from well known artists over the years but this one is quite a toe tapper!!
Dave Garee same here. i suddenly had this earworm in my head, even i didnt listen to this since i was 12 years old. it was tough to find the band-name and the title.
Love This Song, ❤, Only to end up as a 1 Hit Wonder, The Year We Purchased Our 1st V.H.F Video Player/ Recorder, and Atari Game System, and being the Only Olive Brown Skin Boy, in the Neighbourhood, Who would blast and Repeat , Hoilday, and Sing Both, Lead, and Backup, I'll Never Forget, The Other Ones 😊❤❤

Another holiday
Well, you're walking straight ahead
But you're looking to your right
Got your eyes down low
But you hold your head high
A hola-hola-ho and a hola-hola-hey
Another holiday
Beach, the sun and sand dunes
Takes me far away
Distant lands are not so far away
I don't know why we don't go
Take my hands I'll show you the way
Pack your bags and sail away
Well, I hate my job
And I got no car
And my aching feet
Won't take me that far
A hola-hola-ho and a hola-hola-hey
Another holiday
Kiss me in the moonlight
Listen to the waves
Distant lands are not so far away
I don't know why we don't go
Take my hands I'll show you the way
Pack your bags and sail away
A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo
A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo
A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo
A-hoo a-ha-ha, a-hoo-hoo
Another holiday
Distant lands are not so far away
I don't know why we don't go
Take my hands I'll show you the way
Pack your bags and sail away
Distant lands are not so far away
I don't know why we don't go
Take my hands I'll show you the way pack your bags and sail away. Yeah yes yeahs maps

The first time I heard this song it stuck with me. I picked up a 45RPM and played the hell out of it. I wish I still had that record.
I just heard this song on the radio for first time yesterday. Nice little catchy tune. Too bad it's not available on iTunes. I would totally buy it.
she had such a nice voice
This used to play on Sirius XM's 80s on 8 all the time. Now it plays on my work Spotify playlist at least a couple times a week.
I *loved* this band back when -- happy this popped up while I was spelunking around TH-cam; off to get their album via Apple Music.
Love this, good memories of the 80's, shame it's not available on iTunes
I know, right?!

But I love her voice here, great tune!
Ich hab es im Osten schon geil gefunden und nach dem Mauerfall war es von der Bildfläche weg, super geiler Tanzsong.... auch 2017

Used to hear this on 89.3 KOHL back in 1987.
Wow! Haven't heard this in ages. Thanks for posting.
Heard this on the 80s station a couple of days ago. I tried searching for "Holiday" and kept getting a different song. It took searching for "another holiday" to find this.
I still listen to the entire album on cassette.
I managed to pick up their full album a few years back, a lot of other good stuff on their too. I have no idea why this didn't do better in the US.
