Black over red…what a great color combo. Interior looks fantastic! I remember when these were new. Loved them and the Pontiac Trans Am GTA. Nice purchase!
Congratulations. 340 ft.-lbs. from the factory in 1990! Dual cats, discs all around, oil cooler, etc.. I bought my black on black L98 hardtop TA new from Bountiful Brothers Pontiac 33 years ago and still have it. Paint correction a few years ago got rid of the swirls and a few minor scratches. It will be around after i'm gone!

The red interior is sick as hell. And the license plates “rocshow” is cool too. Very nice buy. Congratulations. And for the black paint. Everyone knows black is the hardest paint to clean and keep clean. Black paint looks great at night. But during the day you can notice the swirls.
Very nice car. Great color combination, too. When I worked at a dealership back in the 80's I got to drive a 5.0L TPI with 5-spd, what a blast! That, to me, is a wonderful combination. Lugging in second gear and rolling into the throttle you could break into serious wheelspin without warning. From a rolling stop I spun tires through the first three gears, chirped into fourth, and had well buried the speedo by fifth. Again, what a blast!

The best looking Camaro ever made. I didn't know a 1990 could have 3.23 gears with the 5.7. I was 19 when this car was made. I was a Mustang GT fan back then.
Same age and same here. Something about that formula name on the side and it looked sleeker to me than the Iroc but this one is still a beautiful ride none the less.
A lot of classics coming out of Missouri these days. This is the 5th video this week Ive seen where a classic was coming out of my home state. What a clean IROC. That red interior looks badass.
Nice example💯, but like all 1980s, early 90s GM cars quality control at the factory was horrible. 3rd & 4th generation Camaros were known for "Door sag" over time because of the weight of those long heavy doors / unibody construction chassis flex. I would invest in a set of subframe connectors and have them "welded" not bolted to the chassis especially if you plan on adding some Horsepower upgrades....Safe driving with your new toy 😊👍
I did that with my 98 Trans Am a few years ago. Weld in subframe connectors, koni sport shocks, adjustable panhard bar, front strut tower brace. I plan on upgrading front and rear sway bars, and a rear lca relocation.
@@FWDSUXARSE another great mod is BMR tubular K member with polyurethane motor mounts, with tubular upper and lower control arms it will reduce weight out of the car 🏎🏎🏎🏎 🏁
@@imbatman3620 I was considering that too. If I'm replacing the K member, and the motor is out, I'm doing H/C/I as well and all supporting upgrades so that may be further down the line.
You are correct about the T-Tops. In either 89 or 90 (I am pretty sure it was 90) they stopped offering T-Tops because the torque from the 350 engine was causing the T-Tops to crack in previous years of the car. You could get them with the 305 however and of course the V6. 😁
Yes it is correct also because back in 1994 I bought an 1989 Trans Am GTA with t-tops and the 350. The previous owner told me it was the last year to get that package for the GTA and IROC. Great cars but yes the torque was insane and the t-tops leaked cause the bar cracked, it was noticed when car was being repainted.
Gorgeous. Had an big IROC poster in my college dorm room to remind me if I studied hard, I could eventually buy ones. I actually ended up buying a new Trans Am in 92 when I graduated and still have. Love 3rd gens!
Gorgeous car. Really makes me miss my 1987 IROC-Z. My favourite of all the cars I've owned, and one I never should have sold. The red interior of yours is in incredible condition. Hopefully you can minimize its time in direct sunlight, as that interior is known to fade really badly (most of the original red interiors, now days all these decades later, are more pink than red). That car must have been garaged most of its entire life. Be nice if you could source some repro VR50 Gatorbacks for it.
Beautiful color combination, I prefer the hardtop. Mine is an '88 IROC 305auto metallic gray with DX3 sticker delete and rear defogger delete. Only 1900 miles, still smells new.
Sweet ride! Sold my 89 six years ago. Had that same red interior, personally it was the only thing i did not like about it. The gray or black interior blended much better ....mine was the tpi 350 as well w/ t-tops..
I will always have a soft spot for the GM F-body/platform. I miss my 89 TA all the time, but then I look at the fuel prices these days and that feeling passes again. Yours is a beautiful car...almost looks like she just rolled off assembly. Enjoy it and drive it whenever you can. Cheers!
I've been removing my exhaust systems having them sand blasted, air blow all the sand off and use that vht silver 2000 degre paint, which holds up much better than ceramic coating and can be touched up at any time and does not discolor...
I love this car. As a 12 year old, barely 5 feet, I sneaked out with my brother's IROC with two pillows on the driver's seat. I drove around five blocks and nobody found out. I got away with it. LOL
Amazing car. I would not want a t-top car. I drove a 305 t-top car in 1987. Might have bought it but the insurance was way to much. Chevy never offered the 5 speed transmission with the 350 in the third gens, all the 350 irocs were automatic only. Awesome car!!

Total cars with the 350 L98/B2L was 2,415. Yours seems to be fairly late in the production run. The IROC trademark expired on Dec 31 1989 at midnight so that's why the '90 model was such a short run. 1991Camaro production started in February 1990 and ran a long 18 months to August 1991. Congratulations on your purchase!
I bought an '82 Z28 right off the showroom floor for less than $14,000. Silver with Blue interior, T-tops, the works. I loved that car. Edit: Just found my old pics of this car. It was a charcoal interior, not blue.

Although I'm not a big Chevy fan, I really liked that car and what he did to it. In my opinion, to make this even better, do this.... Limo tint the glass. Install large bladed louvers over back glass BUT have painted in the same black color code. Hand paint the spoke lines on the wheels red. Double clear coat entire car and wheels. Black out rear tail lights. Old school White letter Goodyear eagles are a plus too. I detailed that car numerous times and was still impressed every time I saw it. Unfortunately, I heard the next owner had wrecked it pretty bad.
That generation of F-body was the most beautiful in the history of the vehicles. NEW this '90 with the 5.7 ltr motor stickered at approx. 21K - 33 years later these IROC''s as collectibles are starting to ascend in value. Not pristine this example is still solidly clean so we're guessing you acquired it for $17,500 - We look forward to hearing the actual figure but we believe we're close. Absolutely loved this era of Z28 production run. Many Thanks Yo ! 💯
Nice ride, had a 85 tpi 305,did all kinds of motor work and sensor adjustments with factory chip got it down 13.8,ended up with 240k on the car, have fun with it,I have to add that the braks suck on it be safe
Recommend upgrades new speakers throught out the car replace the radio simply hold on to the factory radio. Replace the shocks and struts replace the sway bar bushings to poly urethane . Had 3 of those unfouly two were wrecked and one stolen never recovered
$14,000. Paints not perfect, Tires were toast, no T-tops, That's my guess. If you got it for that you did REALLY well as it looks like a very clean well preserved Iroc. Thanks for sharing your amazing Camaro! Looks like a really smart purchase.
You could not get t-tops or a manual transmission on a 5.7 liter car in 1990. The first new car I ever bought was a red 1990 IROC-Z with the red Recaro interior. It had every option except for the Bose radio/leather seating package. I did not like the sound of the Bose system which also made it difficult to upgrade to an aftermarket head unit. I liked the leather but it was not available without the Bose radio and the package was pretty expensive. I ordered it from the factory and the dealership received it about 12 weeks later. I got a pretty good deal at $18,500 plus tax title and license
Unless there's something I dont know about with this car there is no reason to change the fuel pump. You have a fresh filter in there thats all you need to do. Fuel pumps dont need to be changed just to do it.
My first car was a 1988 iroc. It was not in anywhere near the condition yours is in. However i really liked it and wish i still had it. Mine was t top and i think the coolest part was the leather ttop bags that strapped into the hatch area. Like you mentioned in your video, my fuel pump went out several times.
Those will always be the best version of the camaro! What a beautiful part of GM history I had a convertible one I would still have it but we got laid off I needed the money clear title it had 180 thousand miles still sold for 18 grand !
I’ve always loved the IROC Z my older brother had a red iroc and someone in my neighborhood as a kid had one of them factory turquoise ones which was my fav
I had one 2 back in the day..but looking at it now..the use of plastic is crazy..lol.. I think my interior of my maserati is worth more that the whole car.
Not only could you not get T-Tops with the 350, it also came with a 700R4 with no option for a manual. If you got the 2.8 or the 305, the manual was an available option.
I used to sing a song in my brothers 2.8 on the way to school. ‘Crawlin… in my 2.8. So damn slow I’m gonna be late.’ Surprised he drove me to school at all.
Damn I hope you saved those gator back tires, they are worth money… I’ve heard the same about the 350 and t-tops. I have a 92 1LE. I think it was the G92 option that you couldn’t get with t-tops. I think your leak is coming from the weap hole in the bottom of the water pump. If it is, you should call Edelbrock, get the aluminum reverse flow water pump. Put a 180 thermostat in it and it will never over heat if you keep the lower air deflector in place(the one underneath the car, near the front sway bar). Great job on the car, it is beautiful. 1990 is the best year if you want an IROC. I’m going to guess that you paid 22K, because the market has fallen a bit. Realistically, it should be a 25-30K car I believe, but let me know if I’m wrong.
Man that thing is beautiful. I’m an early 2000’s kid but I think I would have loved the 80’s. I’m currently working on buying my dream 96’ SLP Camaro SS, so excited to drive something special.
I had one . an 85 with the 305 carb engine . beautiful car . built like crap . rattled right off the dealer lot . took bumps like crap . blew the trans ( t5 manual ) and the rear . replaced under warranty . but car was a chick magnet . don't miss it at all . good luck with yours .
I ordered the exact same one back in 1990. Same color, options,350 engine etc. Mine did not also have t-tops. I do not believe that they were available with the 5.7. No manual tranny with 5.7. It was avaiable with the 5.0. If I remember correctly, the msrp, was around $21,000. I owned it for 3 years. I traded it in for a new '93 Corvette Coupe. 300hp with auto.tranny. $40,000 msrp. Those prices seemed like so much $ for a car,but now,you can't buy,a very nice new one for $20-$40 grand anymore.
I HAD A 1987 YELLOW IROC Z I HAD FOR 14 YEARS.I BOUGHT IT NEW, IT WAS A HEAD TURNER FOR SURE.FROM THE FACTORY, THEY WERE NOT PUT TOGETHER VERY WELL, LOTS OF LOOSE PARTS, BUT I FIXED EVERYTHING.
I know this video is already three weeks old I just now came across I'm sure you've solved the radio issue but now I was thinking maybe a fuse or relay
Paid 20 k ish My guess 1 owner these cars are becoming very hard to find nice straight ones like this and for the people saying 8 or 10 or 12 are living under a rock for a car this nice
Eh, t-tops are great, but the other disadvantage besides frame rigidity is leaking. Especially at that car's age. Third and 4th gens are notorious for it. Also that dash vent.... I had an '85 Camaro and that very vent did the same thing. Folded piece of paper and it was good to go. My guess is $17K.
How much do you think I paid for this car?
What did you pay 👀 about 10 thousand?
Worth 18k to 25k but I bet you paid 10k
$15K

Nah, it’s beautiful but best ever? Nope . The 67-69s were the most beautiful by far
@@leehouston5436Nah.
All in the beholder. The split front bumper 70 1/2 silver w black ss stripes was pretty sexy
I liked the earlier Z steering wheels better, than those padded steering wheels that LOOKED like a airbag
I ordered a loaded '87 IROC w/5.7 back in mid-late 1986.
It msrp'd @ $19,993.00
@@danielfair4675 Would not buy anything with a 3rd brake light that ruined the car.1985 was the last good year.
Almost perfect IROC, just missing t-tops for that full trip back to the 80’s. Congrats on your purchase!
I have a 87 love it and it fast!!
I had an 89 Trans am GTA with the 5.7 and t-tops and got rid of it 10 years ago. I still miss it and kick myself!
Very beautiful clean car. Way to go, you did good.
Unless there's something I dont know about with this car there is no reason to change the fuel pump. You have a fresh filter in there thats all you need to do. Fuel pumps dont need to be changed just to do it.
Beautiful IROC! I'm more of a Mustang guy but always thought these were super cool. Congratulations.
Love the lobster tune port
Congrats on your new ride. That is Nice.
One of my all time favorite cars, dreamed of having one as a teenager. How was the milage confirmed?
Those will always be the best version of the camaro! What a beautiful part of GM history I had a convertible one I would still have it but we got laid off I needed the money clear title it had 180 thousand miles still sold for 18 grand !
I’ve always loved the IROC Z my older brother had a red iroc and someone in my neighborhood as a kid had one of them factory turquoise ones which was my fav
Very nice condition for the age. Good find.
I had one 2 back in the day..but looking at it now..the use of plastic is crazy..lol.. I think my interior of my maserati is worth more that the whole car.
How come some of the back hatch compartments are plastic and sometimes they are carpeted. I had a fully loaded iroc and mine were plastic
I think the carpet was an option you could get.
A truly unique and awesome car
Not only could you not get T-Tops with the 350, it also came with a 700R4 with no option for a manual. If you got the 2.8 or the 305, the manual was an available option.
I used to sing a song in my brothers 2.8 on the way to school. ‘Crawlin… in my 2.8. So damn slow I’m gonna be late.’ Surprised he drove me to school at all.
Love a clean 3rd Gen.
Clean ride
Man that thing is beautiful. I’m an early 2000’s kid but I think I would have loved the 80’s. I’m currently working on buying my dream 96’ SLP Camaro SS, so excited to drive something special.
I had one . an 85 with the 305 carb engine . beautiful car . built like crap . rattled right off the dealer lot . took bumps like crap . blew the trans ( t5 manual ) and the rear . replaced under warranty . but car was a chick magnet . don't miss it at all . good luck with yours .
Correct. t-tops was not an available option with the 5.7 and the 5.0 with the G92 option. You can order t-tops on the 5.0 without G92.
1987 you could
@@capricetony you're correct. I was referring to '90_92
@@capricetonyMy brother had an 87 5.7 t top car. He regrets selling that unicorn.
Glad you got your dream car bro! Can’t wait to see it.
We're not worthy. We're not worthy. Lol. Sweet ride.❤
Great car
Outside and Inside
I ordered the exact same one back in 1990. Same color, options,350 engine etc. Mine did not also have t-tops. I do not believe that they were available with the 5.7. No manual tranny with 5.7. It was avaiable with the 5.0. If I remember correctly, the msrp, was around $21,000. I owned it for 3 years. I traded it in for a new '93 Corvette Coupe. 300hp with auto.tranny. $40,000 msrp. Those prices seemed like so much $ for a car,but now,you can't buy,a very nice new one for $20-$40 grand anymore.
i had a white 90 iroc with same int. great car. 90s were limited. traded it for a 93 z28 6 speed after my girlfriend tried to steal it.
Welcome back! Sweet ride. In my mind, any price under 20k for that car would be a good deal.
Those car lifts look very cool, what brand are they?
Quickjacks
I HAD A 1987 YELLOW IROC Z I HAD FOR 14 YEARS.I BOUGHT IT NEW, IT WAS A HEAD TURNER FOR SURE.FROM THE FACTORY, THEY WERE NOT PUT TOGETHER VERY WELL, LOTS OF LOOSE PARTS, BUT I FIXED EVERYTHING.
Sweet example. I would put the earlier iroc wheels on it and then manual swap
I know this video is already three weeks old I just now came across I'm sure you've solved the radio issue but now I was thinking maybe a fuse or relay
Paid 20 k ish
My guess 1 owner these cars are becoming very hard to find nice straight ones like this and for the people saying 8 or 10 or 12 are living under a rock for a car this nice
👍👊
