For a complete explanation of ALL Revit tools and the whole workflow on projects I have created a course (for beginners): balkanarchitect.com/p/project-1-beginner-to-intermediate-level-course-2-0
I just installed the Revit trial and this is my first tutorial. The pace of this is nuts. I have to keep pausing every 4 or 5 seconds to go back to Revit and figure out what you've done. Thank you for making this, it is loaded with information for a newbie like me.
As a total beginner, I had a lot of difficulties in doing your shortcuts without clear explanations on how to do them. I took a lot of time though I finally managed. Thank you so much will be watching your part two.
I can't say I'm perfect yet but the best way is to be patient and skip, stop, rewind and follow you whilst also designing on my computer. I grew frustrated at first until I decided to do exactly what you're doing. Big ups, you're the best facilitator on YT. Bravo
This tutorial can also be presented as a Revit Refresher Course for those already using Revit but want to perfect their skills. Excellent tutorial, keep it up.
Thanks for a perfect speed, other tutorials just make you sleep, thanks a lot very useful, finally i learned somethinf instead of yawning my day away. all others complaining bout it being too fast should remember its not a kindergarden school plzzzz
Loved it, I was getting training for the HVAC certification and only software that made me discouraged was Revit and now I have got some hope to do something.
I am a beginner who is trying to use Revit for my architectural skills and your video( this specific video) helped me a lot---you actually used less than 25 minutes to show us a good tutorial---Thanks so much for preparing this video--keep up the good work
Beginner tutorial, the first thing out your mouth was "I'm just going to change the units to mtrs" but then you appeared to hotkey open a dialogue box, you need to explain to beginners how you open up the menu to change units.
it is a beginner tutorial not a kids Sunday art project amigo. How hard is it to google “revit change unit hotkey”? And lo and behold, the first result you get is the official pdf for all the hot keys…
Awesome. This is my first Revit building that I've done. My brother is an Architects and he told me to look at your video's. Took me 5 hours and plenty have been learned.💪
I can't find any of the components when I go to 'load family'. I have gone to the Autodesk Revit content website and downloaded the packages and I still cannot find them anywhere?
Saw the other comments, just wanted to say that I've actually been using AutoCAD for the last couple of years to do architecture stuff(for curiosity, not professionally) and this tutorial was really cool, very short for so much you taught in a few minutes. Appreciate the effort and the tips! Very USA lookalike house and furniture
Love the subtle humour in there. You would expect more if you were an executive, that made me chuckle! Also learning a lot, I came from a LinkedIn Learning course and it was very general I love how you show how to actually model and use shortcuts.
Nice tutorial Balkan... but there is an important part.... you didn't discuss.... which will be good for those just learning to use revit..... that is temporary dimensions..... most times revit takes dimension reference from center to center.... which will be a problem for most users when drawing... so they have to change the temporary dimension properties to faces for walls..... and openings for doors and windows...... 🙏
it's too fast. and there are some shortcuts/process you did not fully explain, like what did you do to make a floor with the shape of the entire floorplan, and what did you do to subtract areas of the bath and kitchen.
First time to see how you draw in revit. And making floor plan in revit is 1000x easier than making it in autocad or sketchup. Because of this, il be converting into revit. Thanks. 🙂
So rapid work, the floor plan is out like magic, but....., Using detail lines to draw model elements is very bad practice because they will not appear in sections or other copies of the same floor plan and also in schedules, you can load wardrobe and shelves and kitchen counter and cooker from the library, so everything will be accurate. My congratulations for the good tutorial.
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I like how you used shortcuts, how you make things easier and save more time. Your explanation is very clear too. Thanks heaps :) looking forward for part 2 and your revit course.
he clicked on "select lines" comand and then he positioned the mouse on a random wall. To select all the walls at the same time, you have to press TAB multiple times until all the wall are marked.
Hello, thanks for the video. I would like you to go more slow and explain commands, because as beginner I have to replay video several times to get how you did some stuff.
ME TOO!!! I really need more explanations about the comans, how do u turn the bed while you are choosing the position? what's the difference between line and detail line? can I change the dimension of a door/window after I put in and without creating a new type? how tall are the walls?
I would recommend to keep the units in milimeter. Your walls are called "Generic 300mm", so it could be very confusing when the dimensions are in centimeter.
I always leave 625mm for kitchen units/wardrobes because the wall is never 100% straight. You can always leave a tiny gap at the back but it ensures that it doesn't stick out.
Good tutorial, but i ran into a snag right from the beginning. I chaneged the units to CM's, but my wall thickness units still stay in inches. How do I change walls , windows etc to cm's?
Is there somewhere I can go to get all those components you show? at 7:35, you click on US_Metric and see so many components. Do you have a zip of this that us beginners can have to keep following along? EDIT - I have discovered that Revit 2021 does not install all of them by default :(
Great Tutorial Thanks Speed is excellent not boring, and one can pause and watch again until he gets it. I just suggest to tell us when you click something from the menu, and there are some hotkeys shortcuts you missed to say them. Last, what is the difference between CO (copy) and CS (create similar)?
this is good to see the speed you work at. but I feel like you glaze past some of the short cuts you use. eg flipping the door before placing. or maybe how you reworked the walls after you split them.
Can anyone tell me how to get the wall dimensions to behave the way they do at 3:48? My default behavior is for the dimension to go to the centerlines of the walls rather than the faces and it's driving me insane.
Does anyone know how to create the walls like he did? Rectangular form, then edit dimensions. When I go to create the wall it just prompts an individual wall and not the rectangular form. thank you!
i just got a hvac revit file in 3d view, tried to create a floor plan for input duct size, elevations but without luck please help. I'm new to Revit. Thanks
Thanks for the knowledge you shared sir. It's so much helpful. But there is something I wanted to ask. The display on your screen doesn't looks like AutoCAD. Did you used another package for that you tutorial sir. Pls share if so sir and reply if not sir.
Hi, in my software menu Modify / Place Component / load Family is empty how do i get them to choose or download. in this video you are presenting 7:36 Regards Alex Chatran

Anyways thanks.

Think of it like drawing. And just use tools to do what you want. The important paarts are door sizes, measurements, rendering scaling etc.

As a AutoCad user for 5 years I feel like so much weight just dropped of my shoulders with Revit...thanks, learned super fast time to get to work!
This tutorial can also be presented as a Revit Refresher Course for those already using Revit but want to perfect their skills. Excellent tutorial, keep it up.

Same for me, it was just the right speed. (To be fair I've been using various 2D and 3D CAD software for years, just not Revit.)
Loved it, I was getting training for the HVAC certification and only software that made me discouraged was Revit and now I have got some hope to do something.

This is perfection, the kind of tutorial I like, not talking too much and straight to the explanation. Thank you very much was so helpful.
I love these tutorials. I just hate the ads every 3 minutes.
Finally found a great tutorial for beginners! Learned so much in just one video. Thank you!

Not gonna lie. Was watching just out of curiosity (what is Revit) but when I heard metric system, I hit the subscribe button right away.
Cannot really thank you enough dear. You made me get into track very fast and effectively. Your effort is highly appreciated. 🙌
my first shot at Revit. thank you, man.

Just fast enough and has almost everything to get me started! Thanks. The only thing these two videos are missing is how to add room dimensions.

how to change it bro ?
go to MANAGE-ADDITIONAL SETTINGS-TEMPORARY DIMENSIONS...choose Faces for wall and Openings for doors and windows
That video was very very useful, I had to adjust the speed to .75x and 0.5X to be able to follow, as you were very fast.

Because, It is only for Floor plan, That's why he draws detailed lines instead of loading Components.

That was nice balkan to see your tuto

How to set a decimal places in your units? Thanks

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I like how you used shortcuts, how you make things easier and save more time. Your explanation is very clear too. Thanks heaps :) looking forward for part 2 and your revit course.
I don't understand what command he used for selecting all of the walls when he made the floor...

all the walls*
okay perfect! thank you so much! Sorry my english is not great haha
Wow.. That's cool.

why cant i find type of walls such as in 1:05 ? theres only wall there

how to change the family unit? changing project units doesnot change the family units that's already loaded with the software

He bombed it.
