    In this video we find a unicorn of low range transfer cases on Facebook marketplace. We temporarily finalize the Barnes DIY front bumper with a Warn winch and the Freedom Winchline. We then move onto removing the NP231 Jeep transfercase to put a SYE Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit in it along with a Tera-Low 4:1. We break down the ins and outs of a 231 tcase and we show you how to properly measure for driveshafts and what tool we use to know the U-joint size needed. We hope you follow along as we take on this Cherokee project and get closer to the finish line with it!!!

    We want a 4:1 transfer case when we upgrade to 40’s and one tons. Don’t know much about the inner workings of the transfer case but it’s always fun to listen and learn.

    LOL ! I was wondering what the name of the sealer you were using that was the right stuff to use rather than the grey stuff. I went back and put it on closed caption to see if you said the name of it. Then I googled the right stuff and found that is what Permatex named it " the right stuff" LOL ! Would have been good if you had said it's called the right stuff by Permatex ! So I picked up a good tip ! Why I watch so many different videos about the same thing , never know what you might pick up on , so thanks buddy !

    The 4:1 would be nice. A couple other upgrades you can consider. A Durango chain is wider than a Jeep chain and swaps in. A Chevy 6 pinion planetary is also a nice upgrade if you're keeping the original ratio.

    For scrap material storage: I’ve seen a steel skateboard rack design that could work well: a wall mount frame with prong-shelves like a ladder. Easy and compact and simple to organize by round, square, flat, steel type etc.

    I'd like to add to your Tera low comment. I've heard nothing but bad about them. Even your Buddy Matt has his feelings about them. ALTHO! No kidding I have been wheeling my XJ on Tons and 43 stickies for 3 years. Rig had it when I got it so I don't know how old it is. It just keeps going. It has totally defied what people say about them. Iam the same way, I like to crawl stuff and have had it in some hard binds. We wheel some extremely difficult parks. Rugged Moutain Ranch, Clayton, Twin Mountains, Hot Springs, exc. I wouldn't be hesitant to buy another for the price. Which they would bring them back!! Thanks buddy. Would love for CrawlCity to meet up and wheel with yall sometime. If your ever wanna come wheel HMU. We have a great crew and can give you the tour!

    fFnd some scrap pipe say 6-8" in dia. Cut to about 18" long, stack them into a rack and tack them together. You can store a lot of short rounds, squared, etc in them.

    You could fab up some wood boxes with little cubbies out of ply wood that could hold all the different sizes of tube. The cubbies could be made to hold 4 or so bars across and 4 high. This would then give you space for 16 tubes in each hole.

  • @ericjohnson4768
    @ericjohnson4768 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The metal supplier closest to me stores their cut offs the same way, a set of shelving with caps, cut offs, long and short, they sell at a discount. Another shoo out of town sold me a 48” long piece of 2x3 rectangle tubing for $15!

    I ended up cutting up a cheap wrench to make it shorter to use on my x-fer case removal. Bending one sounds like a better idea! If I had my welder set up I could have welded on some 90° angle leverage to the short wrench, but oh well. Maybe it was better to do it the hard way the first time.

I was reminded that I see tube and bar stock standing up in slots at Lowes, Homer's Depot, and Ace/True Value. Or maybe even hang it from the ceiling on a hanging shelf of some sort. When you are on the throttle it's fine. But when u let out at idle it drops to zero. Why would it all of a sudden do this. I'm think bearings may be bad. But why would it do it so fast. It sounds fine and some like it runs the same? And help be appreciated. Not really wanting to tear it apart right now.

    "puke oil if you remove your driveshaft"
    That was true of older 231s but not of newer ones. I've driven my 00 without a rear shaft to check for vibration with no fluid lost.

    Why would you install the Tera Low in the 231 that is known to come apart and not be reliable?

      Like I explained in the video, they have always been reliable for me. That's why :)

    For those of us who can't find the unicorns, what's the best replacement for the Tera-Low 4:1?

      A jeep rubicon case, an atlas, or the new midnight metalworks cases are about your only direct fit options.
