And continue:this medical places clinics make miracles to you only IF the mind is ready and want to cut the drugs.

When He👑died I was 21.He was always"magical",eye-catching like no other..Elvis Presley ..I have his music in my heart every day, every difficult day.And it's His secret that he's still among us,all over the world. He was sensitive, charismatic and very generous, but this great artist with a unique charm was also a human being. He had problemes, weaknesses and fears. He was sick from childhood, more and more seriously with time. The musical output he left behind is huge and still moves us with his wonderful voice straight from the heart. And that's the most importamt thing/I thing💖🇵🇱

As a lifelong fan:. I see pictures of him at the end and I think all he probably wants to do is lie down. The pain is so evident in his face. The courage, strength, and discipline that it took for him to go on stage when all he wanted to do was find a quiet corner and close his eyes. We've all been there at some point. I know I have. I'm not saying he didn't have a drug problem. But I respect him so much for his inner strength. I always feel his hurt and sadness when I see those last photos. God bless him.

Elvis was the first mega-famous sex symbol. He had no road map. He had to make it up as he went along. Unfortunately, he couldn't figure it out ("it" being how to handle all the fame and all the stuff that came with it). I think he freaked out a lot of big-time famous people after him, and THEY got to learn from Elvis. Mick Jagger is still around today, because he knew when it was time to chill on the partying and start paying very close attention to his health, like what to eat and the need for exercise. Same with all The Beatles. Look at people like Sting, like Springsteen, and others. But poor Elvis had no one to emulate.

I think it’s hard to judge when you weren’t there he was under so much pressure to keep on doing these shows couldn’t take time off I think a lot of people knew about his health but couldn’t say anything in case of getting fired and I think elvis knew but by that time he was so dependant on the drugs wouldn’t listen to anyone so he kept on going and eventually it killed him so many times we see this happen to stars it starts when they are young and rise to fame so quickly they can’t always deal with it and the pressure that comes with it and also what the fans expect and what the media does shame it has to end that way

Elvis also had tons of people on his payroll. I saw an interview once where one of the guys said that they told him to take some time off. Elvis said that he couldn’t. He has too many people who depend on him. I also read that the band members went to Priscilla to try and get her to get him help because she was the only one he would listen to. She tried, he listened, but never got the help he so desperately needed.

    • @danc3693
      @danc3693 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@@kristine0 I don’t think the issue was so many people were on his payroll. The issue was The Colonel took 50% - absurd and Elvis and Vernon LET IT happen. Elvis was the star and he could’ve canned The Colonel’s ass. Plenty of stars would’ve done the same!

    • @kristine0
      @kristine0 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Oh, the Colonel DEFINITELY had a lot to do with Elvis’s money problems and screwed Elvis, BIG TIME but Elvis also had a ton of people to support and, we all know, he spent money like crazy because it made him happy to see other people happy. Now, I know the movie isn’t 100% accurate, but it shows you how Elvis really didn’t realize how much control he had over his own finances and how Parker was lying and making him believe he owed everything that Parker had spent. Vernon also should have NEVER been in charge of Elvis’s finances. The only reason Parker recommended him was to get on his and Gladys’s good side. I believe none of this would of happened if Gladys would have lived.

If you've dealt with an addict in your family, you know nothing changes until the person wants to change. In the case of Elvis, he believed he needed the drugs and that they were prescribed correctly by his doctors. Sadly, to pay $ 2 million to Priscilla after the divorce in 1973, Elvis sold the rights to his music, leaving him dependent on touring as his only source of income. He came along in a perfect time for his fame and career but in the worst for his health problems and addictions. We probably wouldn't think twice now if he would announce he needed treatment for health and drug issues. There is more focus now on prescription drug overuse and I would like to hope that if Elvis wanted to (that is the only way) that he would have gotten help for his colon issues and the medication issues. He didn't abuse alcohol(thank God or for sure the mix of that and pills would have got him earlier) but he was under that mindset that the precriptions were needed and Dr. prescribed so that was ok. He was taken advantage of by his manager and anyone else who thought they could due to his nature of being giving and nice. A terrible combo and in my opinion it is amazing we had him with us for as long as we did. Sadly it could have been a lot longer.

Listen to the transcript even after been tipped off about the book Elvis says 'If you need anything just ask' and 'Do what you have to do'. I'll give you an example when a girl overdosed with cough syrup these men along with Elvis tried to cover it up. Why not leave? Like I say I've met these men and whilst I can kinda get my head around Red and Sonny I find Lamar Fike and Dave Hebler crass people.

@@darranmartin7489 i am sure that tell-all book crushed Elvis. He probably thought, "after all I have shared with them and all those years together, how could they betray me this way? "
I think he lost his drive after trying to fire that ba*&$% Parker and was blackmailed he knew his future was locked into endless touring back and forth across the US. He wanted to do serious dramatic acting and to see the damn world but Parker held him back. He took 50% of the man's earnings and gambled it away like nothing!!
Elvis felt trapped yet needed to support the massive enterprise of his business & entourage.

I've often wondered the same. If the fans stopped attending his shows would this have motivated him to get clean and address his health? Or slipped him further into decline. IMO up to 1975 Elvis would have risen to the challenge but post 1975 I think he realised the loss of ambitions been fulfilled and controversley with him been a Southener and Christian upbringing the loss of his wife and child and knowing he was mostly to blame and him never really changing and self medicating his hurt. I think if he'd had survived into the 1980s things would have naturally improved, we all re-evaluate at 50. Only Elvis could have saved Elvis.

@@darranmartin7489 I'm not sure what the point of no return was. He fixed himself up for Aloha from Hawaii but then it slowly started to go again until the end. It wasn't just the drugs, even by 73 we're talking about walking around with over a decade reliance on medication that he didn't even see a problem with because it was all from a doctor not off the streets. It was also underlying health conditions, and early deaths run in the family. I guess we tragically saw with Lisa Marie too. Nevertheless, if he somehow maintained himself I wonder what kind of music he would be doing in the 1980s and 1990s? Never gonna give you up almost sounds like an Elvis song, he could do take on me, but a lot of it was faster paced than what he did. Yeah, I saw another interview with one his guys who said if fans had walked away, it would’ve made a difference. A lot of Elvis’s more rabid fans treat him like Jesus Christ and could do no wrong. They make excuses for him or even make up their own facts. Elvis was declining a bit and getting bored even in ‘72 then stepped up for the Aloha Concert. The decline after that from ‘74 to ‘77 was swift. His behavior on stage got weird, his taste in stage clothes and haircuts declined, IMO. His mental state was poor (people around him have said so) and his drug abuse skyrocketed. By the way, I’m 64 and a big fan since age 6 or 7 - but being a big fan does not require me to believe Elvis was perfect or to be naive about his problems.

I read the book Destined to Die Young by Sally Hoedel, it goes in depth on Elvis family medical history, his mother's and his illnesses. Its greatly researched. He had alot of genetic hereditary illnesses, so many, glaucoma in both eyes in his 30s, thats not normal, insomnia, sleep walking, night terrors all at an early age, insomnia never left, bowel, intestinal issues since birth, then liver, lungs, heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, severe arthritis in neck and back, all by age 42. Not mormal. The book really explains alot, he was dealing with so much, no wonder he became addicted to pain pills. No MRI back then, different thinking of health, if he had only gotten the right medical care, if only all the Memphis Mafia guys had of known all of his real medical issues and of course Elvis kept it quiet, he was embarrassed especially the bowel problems, he needed a colostomy bag, but he refused, thus making things worse

He did himself no favor hiring a family member to cook Southern food for him either - a terrible diet. Elvis wasn’t “prone” to gaining weight, IMO - he had a bad diet and overindulged. He was a compulsive personality and some of his guys would tell you that. He could’ve done what many stars have done for many decades which is hire a professional chef to cook healthy meals. Unfortunately, it was common at that time for stars to crash diet and take speed to lose weight for a project. Clark Gable did it in his older years and child stars were given uppers as well. He was tormented with fear that his little daughter would read it. The book is on TH-cam I listened to about 4 parts, it does put him in a negative light, even events are true, there is an undertone of jealousy one mentioned he was not that great of a guitar player, very detailed accounts of every thing such that he ordered a hit on the Karate instructor, and could not be snapped out of it and began drugging more, a fan overdosed by drugs from Elvis, and he was telling the doctor who was called not to send her to the ER, to "just give her the drug ritalin" She was sent to the hospital and almost died. They claim he had no interest. He felt deeply betrayed. The timeline was 14 days from his discovery of the published book to his death.

Its ok them all talking about this and saying what if but its to late, Elvis has now gone forever he will never come back. I really dont know why i bothered listening to this, if you all loved him that much you should have instantly stopped the tour. Then told him to go home get checked out and rest. No matter how mad or raged he got you should have done that, if you had he might have lived alot longer and got his health back on track. Its so sad, so young aswell :(

Told him to get back home? Tell a grown man as stubborn as Elvis was to go back home? Elvis made his own decisions about his life. A lot of people -like the guys in this video- tried to confront Elvis about his unhealthy lifestyle; Elvis just did not want to listen.Nothing You can do about that.

Only Elvis or the colonel could of stopped the tour, I think we may not want to admit it but I feel in part Elvis was in denial about how ill his body was with all his ailments. Anyone would have to be very on top of keeping themselves well with the health problems he had, unfortunately I think his lifestyle was in complete contrast, in other words, the opposite of looking after himself. Touring, physical strain of his schedule and the trying to keep on top of things financially kept bringing him to rely on drugs that were not helping his conditions. He took too many drugs too. His fans kept wanting more from him, in his eyes! He saw them wanting to see him in concert, he saw them screaming wanting a scarf from him on stage, it had almost become unhealthy that they were blinded by the fame and not the human being in front of them. This is the part of fame I dislike. No one could have kept up with that level of demand.

It’s such a sad story, but one that is all too prevalent and real in the entertainment industry. Something that has taken so many talented people from this earth. The thing is, if you look at Michael Jackson and Elvis… Their stories kind of mimic each other. To the point, where it’s almost eerie. Both were on cocktails of medication to keep them up and being the person that everybody always wanted to see out in public… Then, because of those pills… He couldn’t sleep and therefore was on a cocktail of medication to help him sleep.
While propofol might have been one of the leading factors of Michael’s death… With the amount of pills he was on, without factoring in propofol, was enough to kill him. Dr. Murray knew this, which is why he gave him adrenaline after giving him sedative medication that didn’t work… To counteract the effects of that medication, so that he could give him the propofol. Problem is, propofol on its own, is enough to kill anybody… especially without proper equipment and medical attention. Both of which, Michael did not have.
What I don’t understand, is why Dr. Murray didn’t immediately call 911 and get him rushed to a hospital or rush him to the hospital himself… Saving even more time. The point being, that Michael was only left alone for a few minutes. In that time, he was alive, and obviously enough to ask Dr. Murray for his milk(propofol). So, in a very short period of time, things went downhill. Propofol does not last very long in the system. It only keeps you under for a few minutes. So, either he was given a massive dose at once, or he was given it in a drip… Without somebody there, watching him, in order to keep him sleeping instead of just knocking him out.
Why I bring up Michael Jackson from within an Elvis conversation… is the fact that they both died pretty much exactly the same way. According to the people that were there at the house, and his cousin, who was the one getting and giving him the medication… said that he was given one packet of pills that he asked for, in order to go to sleep. Something that had at least four or five pills in it. Along the lines of prescription pain medication, sedatives, and muscle relaxers. Any doctor will tell you that a mixture of any two of those… could be fatal within a short period of time.
So obviously, Elvis had built his tolerance up to a very high-level over a very long time. After a few hours, Elvis called downstairs and asked his cousin to bring up a second pack. Ginger Alden had said that she had woken up and talked to him for a few minutes before she fell back asleep, and he said he couldn’t get to sleep himself. After the second pack of pills, which was probably enough to kill anybody else on this earth… he still couldn’t get to sleep and called down and got a third pack. Now, I don’t know if this was unusual for him to get multiple packs of pills in order to achieve sleep…
But he was on his third pack. Any one of those pills taken in multiples, meaning two of one type of pill… Would be enough to either knock out or kill a normal person. But you are talking about three packs of pills that each had four or more contradicting medication‘s in them. Contradicting, meaning that they should never be taken together as they all have the same ability to slow and stop your breathing. If not that, cause major blood pressure spikes and therefore, you are at risk for a heart attack or stroke.
You are talking about around 12 pills. With any one of them alone being able to kill somebody who is not used to them, or takes them with something else, which could be something as simple as chocolate or other foods that cause a spike in Serotonin and/or Dopamine. When mixed with Antidepressants, which he was also said to be on… It is very easy for your body to overdose on either of those chemicals, and slip into a coma or death. His doctors should have known this, though he was getting prescriptions under everybody else that he knows name.
Which should have been a huge red flag for any medical professional that he went to. Because it isn’t like those doctors saw his cousin or cousins brother walk into the doctors office and get a check up in order to be written out a prescription to get those medications. Computers and their use in the medical industry wasn’t as widespread and therefore there was no way to check at the pharmacy or the doctors office, as to the amount of medication, and how many times they were prescribed over any period of time… Unless you looked at the physical records you had on hand. Which, obviously, they didn’t have the time to do… If they even had those records handy to do so with.
So anybody could’ve got away with anything before the mid 1990s when computer medical records were becoming more prominent and therefore allowed doctors and pharmacists to see the extent of somebody’s use of any medication over any period of time. so, Elvis was a victim of not only his own mind, but the medical establishment also. Because doctors were willing to write out endless prescriptions, under different peoples names, who all lived at Graceland… With nobody blinking an eye. no red flags, flown or seen. Other than those that were raised and talked about with his friends and family.
But like Michael Jackson, if Elvis didn’t care for what you were saying, and you didn’t agree to what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it… You were cast out of his life, without a second of regret. Essentially, it was Michael and Elvis’s or the highway. So, you can standby and watch them kill themselves… Yet remain good friends with them in the process… Or, you can say something and try to do something, then be an enemy of the state. Never to be heard from again.
It’s tough, because you know it’s your friend in front of you who is killing themselves… But there’s a little to nothing you can do to stop it. I just wonder how many people said anything to Elvis’s dad or Tom Parker about the situation and who knows… Maybe they were complicit and were the first line of defense to get rid of people who didn’t support Elvis’ ways and habits. Regardless, you think if somebody really cared… That they would have said, something to a medical board, the FDA, anybody who could have stepped in and kept it from happening. So that Elvis could have gotten some help and possible rehab, so he might still be here today.
The thing is, as many have said about this video… You can’t help anybody who isn’t willing to help themselves. Elvis obviously knew he had a problem, but the problem was bigger than himself, and instead of going through the pain of rehab… Decided to stick with what made him feel good or at least tried to make him feel good. Because at that point, I can’t imagine where his tolerance would have been, and if he would’ve felt anything from anything he was taking. Though, obviously it didn’t stop him from jumping on the horse and trying to ride it… Even if that horse had a broken leg, he was still determined to ride it, regardless what anybody else said.
It’s a sad story that is all too common in the entertainment industry, and God bless anybody in their families who have gone through it. Because there is little you can do to fix a broken record that keeps repeating itself over and over again. You either toss that in the trash and buy a new one or continuously put glue or tape on and hope for a good outcome.
Hope everybody has a happy holidays.

There's a huge cost to that level of fame and Elvis was the first who had to try and navigate it. Of course, it doesn't help when you're clearly very ill and your manager still insists on dragging you to the stage every night.

A twisted or spastic colon is serious enough. It turned out as healthy and beautiful as Elvis looked before the last, he actually had been suffering from other serious ailments. Didn't want surgery. He would not appreciate people talking bad about his precious mama nor any of his family. He lost his mom when he was 23. A sweet, humble, honest lady. In an interview, Elvis said that she could be strick but as he grew up he realized she was right.
She raised him to be respectful, humble, well mannered among many other good qualities. RIP ELVIS, Lisa Marie, Ben, Gladys, Vernon and of course baby Jesse Garron.❤🙏🏻❤⚡
